They are very alike. They love turning the ball over and making bad decisions. They were also overpaid

And they both had an army of apologists making excuses for them.

Sadly I was one....learned my lesson the first time

In their defense…Wentz in 2017 and Hurts in 2022…people are going to cling to that.  Hurts wasn’t good last year (wasn’t awful either) and Wentz was actually pretty good in 2018.   It’s a long, slow, and expensive realization that those respective career years aren’t happening again.

They're going to stop him from rolling to his right. Which is fine because he needs to go back to stepping up into the pocket anyway

I must have missed the "Wentz got paid, he's done" thread.

I still think y'all should be careful what you wish for. Hurts is still a top ten qb in this league, for all his faults. Have you seen some of the jokers lining up under center these days?

Be as critical as you like, sometimes I will agree with you. But the question is always going to be the same. Who is available and better?

Unless Jalen is like Connor Barwin of course, and visits the EMB, in which case he might eight listen to someone called PussyMagnet69 and decide to stop giving the ball away due to their thoughtful feedback

CHANGED PLAYER: #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had the BEST passer rating against the blitz in Week One, CBS 1) Hurts: 158.3 1A) Darnold: 158.3 3) Mayfield: 152.6 4) Allen: 143.1 5) Stroud: 136.6 This is something that Hurts struggled with last season & has worked

Were you on the board? The dude was getting crucified on every thread

Baldinger's take: one of the INT wasn't Hurts fault.

I appreciate Baldy trying to make a somewhat plausible excuse, but it just doesn’t fly.  Why did he bail (to the right again) from a clean pocket?  If AJ doesn’t slip, then AJ is would have been able to play DB but not WR on an under thrown ball.  Best case, AJ bats the ball out of the hands of the defender if he doesn’t slip.  This tape doesn’t really help Jalen’s case at all.

2023 Turnovers per games played for QB's with at least 9 games played.

Baldy specifically said Hurts bailed from a perfectly clean pocket, a "cradle of love."   This is Hurts' main problem as a QB.  He has happy feet.  This INT was 100% on Hurts.

I think I read he was blitzed 10 times in the game. This is encouraging but just one game.

The way last season ended they really should have played the starting offense in the preseason. Jumping off the bandwagon one game into the season after a win against a quality team is just a bit early for me to say this is a repeat of end of last season.  Don't think anyone is getting ready for a parade either after this game.

If AJ doesn't slip, it's a 50/50 ball. Honestly, I like Brown's chances in a 50/50 situation, but if you take the player out of the equation and just say generic WR, that's a bad decision --- especially in the situation (3rd down, in easy FG range and a chance to go up by 8 in the 4th quarter).

So, I'd rather he throw that into the 10th row and bring Elliot in right there. But not only is Brown able to get to that spot if he keeps his footing, there's a potential for a DPI even if he doesn't catch it which would have set us up with a new set of downs from the 1.

At the end of the day we won despite an aggressive mistake right there.

Here's the breakdown from the qb school.

This is worth watching just to see how the Eagles are handling blitzes and what new route concepts we are using.

We get that Hurt's turned the ball over early and often.

Is that good when he does that? You like it?

Maybe you could stop kissing his butt.

He showed he doesn't have it between the ears to be trusted to get the job done. He didn't learn from Seattle last year and had to play hero ball. Despite all the other valid reasons they lost, 4 of which are higher than him tonight, the bottom line is the ball was in the hands of their 50 million dollar quarterback and all he had to do was get the ball to the Falcon's 40 and he blew it.

Take away AJ Brown and Hurts can't get it done. Low yards per attempt. 13 carries? Why? Ended with choke INT on last drive of game.

Kenny Pickett would have won this game.

Trade Jalen Hurts to Miami,

I had work, so I didn't watch the game. It looks like Hurts played bad again. I just saw the last pick he threw on FOX 29, and it was brutal. I still have coworkers and others defending his play. It's the coaches fault, the OL, etc. Everyone gets the blame but Jalen. The team has played it's best ball during the Hurts era when they took the ball out of his hands and relied on the run game. To this day, I still tell people the year Hurts got benched for Minshew he played some of the ugliest QB for an Eagles starter in my lifetime.

Hurts actually played pretty well. Too many designed runs for him, but he was careful with the football until the very end. You could, of course, argue that´s when he should be at his best given how much he´s being paid, but he had pressure right up in his grill
