C'mon man, how bad a corner can Ringo be that he's not worth a shot ahead of guys like this that couldn't even get on our PS, or the guys we had running around 4 or 5 yards behind Garrett Wilson every other play on Sunday?

Yes that is becoming apparent that maybe the kid cant play a lick at this level when 5-6 undrafted free agents get on the field before you with 6 DBs out. Not doubt Howie would love to have our 3rd rounder back

Sad part is we drafted Nolan Smith when Joey Porter, Jr was still on the board.  YTD, Porter, Jr grades out at 81.9, Smith is at a 48.6.  To put Porter’s play in perspective; Slay grades out at 52.3. We passed on a corner that’s outplaying our best DB for a guy that’s not seeing the field (Smith’s snap count is currently at 39 on defense).

Yes we drafted him in the 1st to be a deep reserve this year just as we drafted Steen to compete at RG but he is an OT, so an early 3rd round pick for a back up LT to a young pro bowler there. Hopefully Steen can play RT

 Scott is the absolute worst.

I wholeheartedly disagree. He's better than Goodrich.

What happens with wages when players are waived from the first team and then signed back to the PS? do they stay the same or go down?

As I understand it, clearing waivers voids the original contract and they sign a new one as a UFA.

Yeah, practise squad players with no accrued seasons on a main roster make something like $12000 a week on a set scale.

Scott was actually drafted in the 4th round.  Is he good?  No.  But at one point, scouts had a much higher opinion of him than Jobe, Goodrich, Garner, and Ricks…none of whom were even drafted.

The bottom line is that they all suck.

Yuck…. Aren’t there any better options?

What's wrong with improving over Goodrich? Coming into the season, we lost our primary backup to Maddox (McPhearson) and then when the season began, we immediately lost Maddox. They had hoped Maddox would stay healthy while Goodrich was groomed. They've been trying to get taller in the secondary and preferred to take a chance with Goodrich after he had a couple solid preseason games. But it was obvious he just isn't ready to fill in for Maddox. On top of all that, the injuries to safety have piled on to our woes. Bringing back Scott was obvious. He replaced Maddox last year --- so he has that experience. He also can fill in at safety if needed (he was trained there in camp), unlike Goodrich. He was also a pretty solid tackler on ST.  Yeah, Scott struggled a bit against top WRs, but he also made plays that people have overlooked. Overall, as a backup last season, he was mostly solid. He "started" 4 games last year and played a large amount in 8 games, yet the only one people talk about was the dallas game. The very next week, he had his 2nd INT of the season. I don't know if Scott will ever be anything more than a backup in the NFL, but right now we're trying to find the best backup available and hopefully without giving anything up. For now Scott, IMO, is an upgrade over Goodrich and there's nothing wrong with that.
