Juan Peron came into power in 1946 and they ratified his new Constitution in 1949.     Talk cause and effect....

Huh, must not have been real socialism.

Or a large influx of rich Germans around that time had an effect?

It actually slowed down considerably after WW2.

They heavily incentivized European migration in the late 1800's/early 1900's and it peaked by 1920.

Do you consider yourself a libertarian?

I don’t consider myself anything really. I agree with the LP on some issues but not all. Even when I was active in the LP I was a "small l” libertarian. I was never close to being an ANCAP.

I try to explain this to people sometimes and for some reason it's a completely alien concept. I get that blank stare like trying to teach calculus to @EagleVA.

Or they'll say something like "oh so you're a moderate"

And I'm like no... nothing. Nothing!

Some don’t like it because appeals to purity are especially useless if they can’t pigeon hole your arguments.

Anarcho Capitalism has about as much of a chance at succeeding as Communism does.

I'd love to see demographics of ANCAPS and ANTIFA types who are either on Meghan's List or have their license suspended for 6 DUI's.

It seems like most of their political beliefs are shaped by their resentment towards the cops that arrested them.

Who??

I think he's a former heavyweight boxing champion that had a sitcom about a Junior High school named after him.

(chew on that one a bit)

Anybody else following what's going on in Argentina?  You scratch below the surface and after the exaggerated hyperbole of the campaign, Milei is following through on his campaign promises.  At the very least - a fascinating economic experiment is happening down there.  And it's refreshing to the see the economic change involving less government instead of more government

Milei: Happy Holidays! Don't be a communist

Mileu immediately got rid of subsidies, prices skyrocketed. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/23/world/americas/argentina-economy-inflation-javier-milei.html

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. The economic situation was unsustainable. Argentina is living in it right now. Will his gambit work to stabilize the economy? We will see.

Watched a couple of interviews of him recently.  As an economist, he is very knowledgeable.  It was like an education listening to him.
