As I said in the post you're referring to, Columbia were counting students suspended or expelled after previous protests as unaffiliated which is technically true but a nonsense. Also it includes students from colleges that don't have a huge quad to camp in and protest which yeah means they're unaffiliated but doesn't mean they're roving antisemitic agitators which is what the 'unaffiliated' tag is being used to heavily imply. You want to talk about weird affiliations look at some of the places NYPD has intelligence offices. Even on the 0% chance all the people accusing the students of being agent provocateurs for Iran were correct, I find a few thousand protestors on college quads a boatload less concerning than politicians taking millions of dollars a year from a foreign power whether that power is notionally an ally or not, I don't understand the things that raise a certain portion of the American public to anger. You should keep an eye on what they do to these kids, because at the moment it seem American politicians are perfectly happy to be flexible around the first amendment in ways they would never countenance around the second amendment and that should concern a lot more people than it seems to in here. I look forward to your next glib comment fishing for haha emojis in due course.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t sizable numbers of others in their mix.

As I said in the post you're referring to, Columbia were counting students suspended or expelled after previous protests as unaffiliated which is technically true but a nonsense. From NBCNews Quote When James Carlson was arrested inside Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall, he was already under investigation for snatching an Israeli flag out of a man’s hand near campus and setting it on fire. That wasn’t the first time Carlson, who has no affiliation with Columbia, had run afoul of the law. He was arrested in San Francisco in 2005 during a violent protest organized by an anarchist group, according to a senior law enforcement official. The 40-year-old animal rights lawyer is among the group of "professional outsiders” cast by the New York City police department and mayor as having a significant role in the takeover of Hamilton Hall. Large, drawn-out protests like the one at Columbia have a tendency to attract people with a diffuse set of ideologies and motivations, experts say. Roughly 30% of those arrested at Hamilton Hall on Tuesday had no affiliation with the school, according to university officials.
