im curious about this. I've seen a couple Bond movies but they never really captivated me. Mission Impossible on the other hand, love it. Just watched Dead Reckoning last night and it didnt even feel like a 2h 43m movie. theyre both kinda in the same category, right?

Add the Bourne movies to this poll. Out of these 2?  MI.

Oh man, I was obsessed with those a while ago. I should go back and watch them again

I would have to pick Mission Impossible, I've never really been a big fan of the James Bond movies. Probably the last one that I watch beginning to end is either "Live and Let Die" or "Goldfinger", and it wasn't recently that I'd have watched it. It would have been in the mid to late 70's.

Though I think there was a Bond movie that came out in 1987 that I technically went to, but only watched a few minutes of it (that I can remember). After graduating High School, I got a job as an usher at an AMC theater (in Greenbelt Maryland), and most new movies were released on Thursdays. So Wednesday nights after we'd closed and all our work was done, the theater manager would let us watch one of the new releases before it was released to the public. That was one of the movies that we watched... I fell asleep almost as soon as the lights went out.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Princess Bride, Three Men and a Baby, Hollywood Shuffle and Spaceballs are some of the other movies that we got to watch before they were officially released.

Oh, and the Mission Impossible that I'm picking is the 60s TV show, not the modern movies.

The newest Bonds were good.  Who's taking Daniel Craig's place?

Last MI was the worst of the series but still enjoy the crazy action more than anything. You know what getting, over the top action

Mission Impossible.

Comparing 25 films with multiple lead actors changed over generations vs 7 films with the same lead actor makes it kind of tough.  I like both franchises.  I like re-watching the Mission Impossible movies more.  The older Bond movies are campy and silly, some are downright awful.  The newer ones with Daniel Craig are a mix.  Casino Royale and Skyfall I thought were really good.  Quantum of Solace was average at best.  Spectre was terrible and boring.  No Time to Die had parts that were really good and parts that were average.

MI series has only 1 bad movie: part 2.  After that, 3 got back to being better but 4 and beyond actually got better than the previous ones.  It's hard for a franchise to actually get better over time.  I've re-watched 4-7 more than 1-3.  Tom Cruise and his producers flat out know how to deliver.

Granted, they've taken from the Bond series with more international locations, European style especially with casting Rebecca Ferguson and the score has evolved to be more like the Bond movies.

A friend of mine is a die hard Bond fan and he's admitted that the MI series is doing Bond better than Bond these days.

I think part 2 was terrible and the worst of the series.  The last one wasn't as good as 4-6 but still good.  I think 4-6 were so good that it makes 7 feel worse but it's still good.  I re-watched that one recently and enjoyed it more than the first viewing.  The villain came out of nowhere all of a sudden as a crucial character from his past, and they went too far with the AI machine that controls/knows everything.  But it still was good.
