Without using a post June 1 designation, cutting him would result in a $17.2M dead money hit to the 2024 cap (only $16M if he is traded).  However, using the post June 1 designation would spread the cap hit over 2 years such that we'd incur a $4.7M dead money hit to the 2024 cap (if cut ... $3.5M if traded).

As they say, hindsight is 20/20.  He was playing a very high level last year ... it's mind-boggling how far his play dropped this year.  I was happy to see him re-signed.  Now it seems the money would have been better spent on retaining CJGJ or used elsewhere.

It sure does seem like it would be best moving forward to part ways with him.  With 3/4 of the secondary over 30, that unit does need a youth movement ... younger players with fresher legs.

For all the love Howie gets, this is one of the MANY times he's ended up with egg on his face.

100% agree.  Bench him.  He is a complete liability and has cost us multiple games at this point.  He is being targeted by opposing teams and our safeties aren't fast enough to provide the help he needs.  Worst case you get a look at the new kids to see what our options in the secondary look like for next year.

If the kids make a mess if it then you can bring him back in on fresh legs.

Enough already with this guy.

They are facing teams with zero passing offense for the balance of the season, might as well tinker.

But when they play our defense, they'll look like the Air Coryell offense for a week.<_<

they targeted this dude over rookies. that's disgusting lol. he needs to be benched 100%

I am unsure if its the scheme being played, or if its a players ability but I am beyond tired of seeing out corners 7-10 yards off the line on 95% of plays. Need to start challenging receivers right on the line. Throw off the timing between them on the QB would definitely help.

Bradberry has played like crap all season. Tbh he’s not been the same since that call in the superbowl , I honestly think that’s damaged him.

Bradberry is aging and losing a step. When we resigned two over-thirty CB's we all knew it was a gamble, on that the FO had little choice but to make since the priority in the off-season was getting a 2nd contract for Hurts. Yes, Bradberry is losing a step. Yes, he is getting burned. But put some respect on his name. He is not trash. He's an aging superstar.

that may be true, but at what point do accept that he needs to be taken out of the 11 as he's costing games/points?

Hopefully he's gone next season. I just don't think they will bench him this season. He's on his 3rd team? Probably a reason for that.

The teams future CBs probably are Ringo and Ricks. Hmmm that sounds kinda catchy!!

Ringo is going to be a Starr

He certainly is drumming up alot of hope for the future of the secondary.

I think once Slay is back they need to go with Slay and a youngster on the other side. It may not work out but they’ve got to try something because Bradberry is a completed pass waiting to happen. He’s been awful all year and he’s not getting any better.

The weakest part of the defense is Bradberry and Morrow. Both guys have been torched throughout the year.

It wasn't a gamble. Since that  requires uncertainty. Even last year Slay and Bradberry were declining as the season went on. Bradberry should have never been resigned.

Bench him for who?  They can't even find a slot guy to start much less any backups worth a damn.

Can you imagine? It's easy if you try.

It likely won’t happen. But he might be gone for sure since he only signed a two year deal I believe.

Choosing Bradbury over CJGJ was a mistake. We knew there were dangers to bringing back Bradbury for another season, but I didn’t even expect his fall off would be this steep. Even Steven Nelson is playing better than Bradbury right now.

yeah but he'll probably need a little help from his friends

He’s a contract-year player. Played awesome in his contract year with Carolina, then terrible with the Giants after he got a big contract. Played awesome on a one-year deal with Philly and then terrible after he signed a contract. There’s definitely a pattern.

Ahhh TY. Didn't realize that bit of info.

I still wonder if the SB penalty gets into his head at times.

I don’t think the SB plays in to this. He’s just too old and he’s getting exposed. It happens to all players and that’s what he is going through.

Should've let him walk in free agency and put money elsewhere.

I know a lot of people loved seeing Gannon leave and, I'll admit I didn't lose any sleep over it either. But he was a DB coach and somehow he had Bradberry playing at an All Pro level most of last season. It should be noted that we also lost Dennard Wilson and he seemed popular to the DBs on the roster. All I know is that Bradberry played so much better last season that it's hard to imagine him having the year he has had this season.
