Make your last minute preparations now.

Not sure what time, exactly, the world will end today. You'd think numerologists would be better with providing numbers.

You got your facts wrong. The climate scientist Thunberg quoted said there would be no permanent ice left in the Arctic by 2023 unless we stopped using fossil fuels, based on measurements of Arctic ice and trends. As it stands, all of the permanent ice in the Arctic will be gone by 2040.

I posted a tweet Greta deleted. If she misquoted the scientist that's on your autistic child-god, not me. Nevertheless, he got it way wrong as every climate scientist always does. Let's revisit this conversation in 2040, shall we?

Yes. Let’s revisit.

See? No different from the cult that was predicting the end of the world on 4/23. Doesn't matter that climate scientists have been predicting catastrophic sea level rises for over 40 years, they still have the true believers.

You can ignore it. But it is happening.

Polar ice caps are melting as global warming causes climate change. We lose Arctic sea ice at a rate of almost 13% per decade, and over the past 30 years, the oldest and thickest ice in the Arctic has declined by a stunning 95%.

Sea ice at the top of the planet continued to shrink and thin in 2024. The maximum winter ice coverage in the Arctic Ocean is consistent with an ongoing 46-year decline.

Analysis of satellite observations has revealed that the total area of the Arctic Ocean covered in sea ice reached 5.80 million square miles (15.01 million square kilometers) on March 14. That’s 247,000 square miles (640,000 square kilometers) less ice than the average maximum extent between 1981 and 2010. Overall, the maximum winter ice coverage in the Arctic has shrunk by an area equivalent to the size of Alaska since 1979.

Arctic sea ice declines are related to the phenomenon known as Arctic amplification: more intense warming in the Arctic than over the rest of the globe. Arctic amplification fits with current scientific understanding of Earth's climate system, and with model projections of global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions. Multiple factors contribute to Arctic amplification, and sea ice loss is one of them.
