I went on safari in South Africa in the first week of March, literally the last possible minute before we knew we were up against something so bad.  And we came home to chaos.

We have a 5 day trip to Iceland booked for May 14.  I expect to cancel, but May 14 also happens to be the target date for resuming normal life.

I think you can pull off July 24.  You may have quite a few peripheral guests who do not attend, but I bet late July will be a green light for weddings and travel.  Sorry about that...that does suck.  But you'll get it done.

Hope so, we shall see. Depends who you ask, some are optimistic about the return to normal life and others aren't. Truth is no one really knows.

My dad had booked a 3 week trip to Alaska this summer that he ended up cancelling. It might be over by then but they were offering full refunds so he figured he wouldn't risk it

My sibs and families rented a house in Sandbridge VA.  I just signed a cancellation notice for Jul 4.  Our refund is up in the air.  If that states restrictions are lifted they must re-rent our week to get a refund on the deposit.  If not, hoping if they must keep it we can book another week at a later date.    I have my brother and nephew working on it since I was advised by them to not purchase the travel insurance when I booked it.  Or, it is also an option in the notice, that we still come.    It's just more unknowns!!  Wearing me out

That blows. Portugal is a good choice. I hope you get there. Good luck.

Yep.  We were there last summer.  Stayed just west of Lisbon on the water.  Very nice.

We also got to the Basque country in Sept mostly in San Sebastian but also up over the French border into Biarritz.  Wonderful trip, great food.  We were down in Rioja for a day and over in Bilboa as well.  Very cool trip with old US based friends.

I was supposed to be flying to over for a US visit next week but of course that is cancelled.  I'm still hoping to come over in late October for a few weeks down in the Carolinas.

Sandbridge is quite nice.  Outer Banksy but not actually in NC.

I was stationed in Basque country and married a Basque woman named Arantxa. I loved Spain and Portugal. Divorced the woman, she just wanted a ride to the US. She's back there now, go figure. Good riddance.

Yes, the OBX of VA.  That's why we choose it.  Our last trip to Corolla was great but the traffic was a nightmare.  Almost 2 hrs. from Wrights Brothers Bridge to the house on 12.

Yeah, I stopped going in the summer nearly 20 years ago.  I only go in the offseason late Sept or 1st part of Oct.  Hurricane season but the traffic is doable.

I so miss the late 80's/early 90's when no one knew it was there!!!   I have been from Oracoke to 4 wheeling up to the VA state line.   I sometimes look at properties in Elizabeth City, Hartford, or Edenton for a nice little place to retire and still be near water and within a 2 hr. drive to the ocean.  Some places in the Inner Banks are in a flood plain though.  Dream big, build high!

Trip to England/Belgium/France booked for late July. Don't think that's going to happen. <_< I don't think anybody is going anywhere this year.

Yep.  My first trip there was in 1976 with my family down to Avon.  Fell in love right then.  Still great but not the same these days.

Wow,  there was probably nothing in Avon in '76.  I think my first time was 1987.

Yeah not much.  We had another Uville family with us with kids (I was 14) and a nearby renter had a bunch of girls my age one of which took a liking to me (so it was all good anyway, haha).  We did all the usual stuff and even had a day out of Oregon Inlet on a boat we chartered.  I think we were even able to get the Phillies on the radio at night.  Fond memories all around.

I still can't get over how much hair you had as a baby.

OMG, stay off of her! : funny

I have reached the Admiral Nelson 100 proof rum and apple cider portion of the day.

We have a map with pins in the major places we've been to together.  I'd like to add a lot more.  Among others I want to see Ireland, Egypt, Iceland, the Holy Land, Banff, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, the South Pacific and Patagonia.
