Portugal has been great so far…did Lisbon and Algarve with Fatima, Duoro Valley, and Porto to come.  Very kid friendly.

Did you eat any barnacles yet?

Let me know if you see a plastic surfer toy wash up.

My son tossed one in to the waves yesterday and it never came back like it's supposed to.  It got pulled out to sea.  You're pretty much directly across from us in NJ.

Surfer dude?

Yeah I think they’re called surfer dudes right?  We were just on vacation with friends and their son had one too - it was yellow though

Yep.

Agent sat down at the $25 min roulette table in Planet Hollywood last night, and placed his first $25 bet down on 23.

Hit first spin, and took a part of my $800+ winnings and placed a Hurts MVP and Eagles Super Bowl Champs bet at the Sportsbook.

I spent two weeks in Europe

Spent time with my wife’s German cousins. It’s trendy now to support an NFL team like we all have a premiere league team to appear trendy

the nfl in Europe games are a huge draw for locals

Was there a dominant team over there that you noticed that more people were fans of?  Or pretty spread out?

Planning a trip to Arcadia National Park.  Breaking up the drive.  1st stop outside Albany NY.  Waterfall nearby. Then heading to the Forks in Maine.  Staying 2days for hiking area.  Then to Bar Harbor for four days to hike and explore Acadia.  Coming home along coast. Boothbay Harbor for two days to do botanical garden and rest of area.  Then to York, Maine overnight before drive home.   We’ll be exploring towns along way down coast.  Any recommendations ?

Portland, ME, is a big foodie town, and a big craft beer town.  It is probably akin to Charleston, SC, regarding food, culture, and history, but in New England.  I am hoping to go there myself this summer.

I've heard Camden, ME, is one of the prettier towns in New England.

Portsmouth, NH, is another nice city with a Downtown that's vibrant, with a mix of a ton of history and a modern touch.  The Strawberry Banke area is one little section packed with colonial houses.

Woodstock, VT, is the prettiest town in Vermont, and one of the prettiest towns in the US.  If you're driving from Upstate New York, you'll pass near the very tiny village of Plymouth, where President Calvin Coolidge was born.  Then if you continue east, Windsor is a historic city where Harpoon Brewery has a taproom, and the Old Constitution House, where they established Vermont as an independent country in 1777.

Maine is on my list.  I've never been. I was in Hampton Beach NH once, so close.

My daughter and boyfriend are going to Acadia later this month.  He plans to propose to her at the end of one of the trails.  They are staying in Stockton Springs.  Since my daughter does a spreadsheet for literally everything, it was very easy for me to ask her to send the itinerary, so I just hired a photographer up there to mark the occasion. They also plan to stop in Portland on the drive up.  Bar Harbor and maybe even Bangor.

Enjoy TB!

Portland ME is a cool town - love visiting there

Way to go Dad, hope it all works out.

It’s hard to fit every place in.  We’re a more quaint small town vibe than the hip big city.  We decided to skip here.  I know we’ll be missing out on some great  places.  Another time.

Can't go wrong with Bar Harbor either - I've been to both and they are different but both great in their own way for sure.

Did a Bahamas cruise, and then just got back from just 2 days at OCNJ this year. Already have the next 2 years planned for trips. Gonna stick with OCNJ next summer to allow us to continue saving up for another big Disney trip the following February in to March. This time, I want to try to bring my parents. My mom used to say it was a bucket list thing to do- go do Disney with her grandkids, so I want to make it happen.

After those trips, I have my sights set on Destin, Florida. Or possibly somewhere in the Keys. Bucket list for my dad is fishing in the keys. And my son is interested in fishing too. Watches youtube videos of people in FL fishing all the time. I need to find a place with a nice beach for some of us to spend time at while the rest of the group is out fishing. Anyone have suggestions on places in the keys with fishing AND good beaches? Or good info on Destin?

Beaches are pretty meh in the keys, though Islamorada which is about 1/3 of the way to key west (from the northern start of the Keys) I feel like was always a popular spot for people to go fishing out of, and I think it had decent beach coverage.

key largo is kind of the "first” key you hit coming from the mainland, and it had a decent sizable beach/park (John pennycamp or something off the top of my head) and has coral reefs for snorkeling and what not. Key west is good for adults and drunken debauchery at select times or year, but staying further north will be more bang for your buck and family-focused activities

Islamorada is one my dad always mentions.

I know someone who recently stayed at Hawks Cay resort on Duck Key. That looks like a pretty good location in between marathon and Islamorada.

Destin looks like a great family place with something for everyone. Beaches.  Fishing.  Water sports. Museums. Boardwalk area with some nightlife. Crab Island for partying on the water.   but also quaint shops and food. Of course,  it's not anywhere near the keys. But I've never really heard of some going to the Emerald coast and now that I know about it,  it looks spectacular. Just found out the other day, an acquaintance has a house down there that they also rent out.

There aren't really that many beaches, or big beaches or amazing beaches, in the Keys.  It's just the nature of an area that doesn't have deep water and doesn't get sand deposits from storms and all.  I think there's a beach in Key West where they replenish it each year, and that may be the best "beach experience".

Knowing nothing about the area, thats been the impression Ive gotten.

Ill have to look in to Key West a bit.

I think something like Hawks Cay resort in Duck Key might be the way to go. They have a lagoon for things like paddleboarding and kayaking, and a huge pool. Looks like a nice resort with a pretty central location to all of the Keys.

Hahaha…those were 2 of the best dishes I’ve had in a very long time.  The first was a fish ceviche with some hot peppers for kick and toasted corn kernels…really creative and lots of flavors going on.

The second was probably the best steak tartare I’ve ever had, just edging out a couple from Rome and Florence.

I also saw a family with a young girl in a very aged Jeremy Maclin jersey.  They weren’t American and I didn’t get a chance to ask…but that was out of left field.

Love Portugal. We have a few friends that winter there. An underrated Euro spot.

Stop in Buddy Guy's Legends in the Loop to see one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen alive perform.  I wish I had stopped by when I was last in Chicago.

Did Buddy’s place last night and very happy we did. Thanks for the tip.
