Blokes...

Looking for advice on 3D printers from anyone in the know.

I've been doing a bit of reading but there's nothing like getting input from those who actually use something.

I have never had or used one before but suffice it to say I'm no neophyte when it comes to either software or technology, so I don't need some kind of "entry level" rig. But I'm not making high-volume, production items or selling things - this will simply be a hobby venture - so I don't need any kind of professional system. Having said that, I'm not opposed to spending money on something with a lot of versatility. I could go up to the US $800-$1000 or at most a tad higher if it gets me some extra functionality and durability.

Here are my parameters, generally:

  • I don't want a piece of crap
  • I don't want anything with too much assembly required out of the box
  • I want something that can accommodate different kinds of materials, and multiple colors - as few limitations as possible for the price
  • I don't care if it's enclosed or open, but I'd like the option to build fairly large items if I ever want to
  • I don't care about speed, even if it takes a few days that's fine

Before you ask - yes, making my own fleshlight is a consideration

Anybody?

I have an ender 3 V2. It works great. It's slow compared to the high dollar ones, but prints good. They run around 250 I think. I bought an auto bed leveler and a filament dryer to go with it and those make a world of difference. I've printed many gu...... uhhh, trinkets with it

Send me your 3D .stp files. I’ll get you some pricing for having the parts professionally printed.

Thanks, but this is mainly about learning and doing it myself. It just seems like fun.

In that case I would suggest an FDM printer. They’re pretty versatile and it’s the easiest material to work with.  I see quite a few MakerBot desktops in engineering departments I visit.

I'm laughing but I have no idea what that means.

Neither do I.

Most of you on this board should know by now that I'm either pissed drunk or completely full of shite when I post about 90% of the time.

The remaining 10% could save humanity from itself.

Pretty sure this applies to most of us.

I forgot to update.

I got the X1C and have been rocking with it for like 6 weeks.

It's great.
