Posted July 12, 20241 yr Blokes... Looking for advice on 3D printers from anyone in the know. I've been doing a bit of reading but there's nothing like getting input from those who actually use something. I have never had or used one before but suffice it to say I'm no neophyte when it comes to either software or technology, so I don't need some kind of "entry level" rig. But I'm not making high-volume, production items or selling things - this will simply be a hobby venture - so I don't need any kind of professional system. Having said that, I'm not opposed to spending money on something with a lot of versatility. I could go up to the US $800-$1000 or at most a tad higher if it gets me some extra functionality and durability. Here are my parameters, generally: I don't want a piece of crap I don't want anything with too much assembly required out of the box I want something that can accommodate different kinds of materials, and multiple colors - as few limitations as possible for the price I don't care if it's enclosed or open, but I'd like the option to build fairly large items if I ever want to I don't care about speed, even if it takes a few days that's fine Before you ask - yes, making my own fleshlight is a consideration Anybody?

They’re pretty versatile and it’s the easiest material to work with. I see quite a few MakerBot desktops in engineering departments I visit.
