But that’s the way it went down. so trumpers only support capitalism when it feeds their narrative ?

The premise isn't what is currently considered a racial slur. His premise is what is a future insane thing leftists will come up with. He suggested actual names like Vikings and Crusaders. GD responded with Crackers and Podunk Whites which don't exist. 10 minutes ago, Green Dog said: Heh, wow. Ok, so its not that I disagree, it's that it's an inherently stupid idea and comparison to make. I know, it takes some brain cells. The only straw man is in the text of the OP and how the issue of the negative connotation of the team name in question goes conveniently unmentioned. See above. Crackers and Podunk Whites don't exist as nicknames. The examples he gave do exist, and his prediction is people will want to change them. In fact, I posted links that it's already come up about changing the Fighting Irish. And in another quick Google search, a university has already changed Crusaders for being offensive. So his "stupid idea" is being carried out by universities already. https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/capital-university-to-retire-crusader-nickname-mascot#:~:text=COLUMBUS%2C Ohio (WSYX%2FWTTE,of study%2C discussion and reflection. In recent years, our nickname has been challenged by students and faculty for its connection to the historic Crusades. The detailed study found a significant portion of the Capital Family shares this perspective," the university said.

Vikings and Crusaders aren’t racial slurs, my guy. Green Dog was making fun of the ridiculousness of that premise. Apparently that was lost on you though.

I mean you do realize that those corporations pressured the Washington team to change the name because those corporations want to ensure that they don't offend anyone, namely the leftists. You do get that, right Dave?
August 4, 20205 yr Holy Cross was considering it, but decided to keep the name but remove the Knight imagery. Trojans has also been discussed: petition to change as Torjan is a symbol of white supremacy Boston University considers changing the Boston Terrier mascot dog's name from Rhett because of Gone With the Wind.

He simply said people will want to change these names, and I already showed that most of them already have petitions or considerations to change, and some already have. The premise isn't that they are racial slurs against whites, the premise is someone will find them offensive and want to change them which is already true.

Once again, sounds like capitalism to me. God bless America.

So now we have names like Jose, or the storm from today: Isaias. Come to think of it, once white names are retired, and only Latino names are left, will hurricane names be racist, even though people petitioned for more diverse names?

What I'm saying is that the activist led opinion drove the corporations to push the Wash football team to change their name. Pretty simple and in fact a normal tool used by any citizenry that wants to change the behavior of a company, in this case a professional sports club. Power to the people!

Right and just how do those corporations make money? Well let me tell you. They sell stuff to people. Nike sells a TON of stuff to people who embrace issues that are important to the left. Ergo, Nike must be careful to consider how they can ensure that they don't lose face with that key constituency. You know, that group that buys Nike products. 101 corp Dave. I am quite sure you never took the course Dave.

Where did I say it was about anything else? I said it was about NIke not wanting to lose money and that the concern is based on Nike customers feelings toward the name of the Wash football team, i.e. the opinion driven by the left. How could it be any clearer Dave?
