My guess is PA and NY will follow suit in the next year or 2 when they realize how much tax revenue they're missing out on.

With my luck, there's gonna be two in the whole state, and  they'll be 90 miles away.

Early on that's probably how it will be unfortunately.  They're pretty spread out through MA still.  More concentrated near borders.

I have zero faith in PA given their goofy ass liquor laws

If they can control it and make money off of it they might.  Grower/dispensary permits, licenses, etc plus tax revenue would be a huge boon.  Plus all the jobs creates an additional revenue boost for state and local income taxes.  You have created an entire new industry.  Those frackers will need jobs after Biden shuts them down.

I thought Wolf talked about using the tax money so they could help small businesses survive during COVID

When we lived in Denver there were a lot of medical dispensaries and when recreational was made legal there were very few open for that purpose and mostly concentrated in Denver.  That quickly changed and by the time we moved there were dispensaries everywhere. They always creeped me out though.. in weird warehouse neighborhoods, or converted manufacturing facilities that felt like there were dead hookers in the dumpsters behind them.. or basements where you had to show your ID to a security camera before getting buzzed in.  And it's all cash.  So it still feels shady since it's not legal at the federal level.

that was just a way to try and push it through.  the comptroller did a study a while back and projected tax revenue was 400-500 million.  That could go a long way in helping school pension deficits and funding other health programs.

Oh I'm not arguing it doesn't make sense.  It's just a weird and stubborn state sometimes. Hopefully I'm wrong there.

It's great if they actually use it to cover deficits, but they won't.. they'll dive into their new found revenues like scrooge mcduck into his pile of coins, and create massive new programs to spend it on.

Old school republicans are the only thing stopping it.  Younger generation sees through its old stigma.

Unfortunately you're probably right.  I'd put it into education and mental health/addiction programs but they'll put it in something that lines their cronies pockets.

@paco is going to be spending a lot more time in brigantine

Not going to lie.... the fact that legalization is around the corner was an angle schmoopie used to convince me to buy the place.

But yes....  During my yearly summer vacation down there, I do look forward to having a few gummies on the beach.  A hell of a lot easier to transport and conceal than a 12 pack of beer.

How does it work in other states? Can you just walk into a 7-11 and grab some weed just like you can walk in and get a soda?

I can only speak to Colorado from our time living there.

There are dedicated dispensaries.  They pretty much sell ONLY weed products but some also sell smoking devices, papers, etc.  If you get a drink there, its pretty much a THC drink.

When you walk in, there is usually a security guard checking ID. In CO its very by the book... no one under age enters.  Plus, its all cash because, feds, so you want security.  You go in and pick out what you want.  In CO, there are limits and it depends on if you live there or not.  You can buy up to an ounce or two if you live there, but much less if you are a visitor.  They do this to discourage people buying mass amounts and transporting them across state lines.  (Kansas use to have cops at the boarder stopping folks with CO license plates).  Once you got your stuff, its all cash and they check your ID again.  I also remember them sealing the bags but that may have changed.

Also, Jersey should look to CO about their pain points.  Edibles were a HUGE issues when it first went down.  For example: They were selling drinks with 100 mgs of THC.  This was meant to do in shots because 10-20 mgs is a good starting point for a non smoker.  But you had smoke birds coming in for their weed vacation, drinking the whole damn thing, freaking out and going to the hospital.  I'll give CO credit, they addressed the issue quickly.  No individual edible could be above 10 mgs.  THC on them had to be clearly marked.  And there was a huge ad campaign to "take it slow as you go".

Did you need to get a special "weed id", or just show a regular photo id like a valid driver's license or something?

Just a gov't issued id for recreational.

There were a few spots that were split in half between rec and medical.  So you would need a special ID for that.

Drank a 200mg bottle once to you know see what would happen and just felt sick.

A few strains have gotten close to the end of a shroom trip but no visuals.

200mg... dayum. No thanks.

I have some homemade edibles that are around 10-12mg each. I have 3 of them and I'm feeling pretty good. 4 of them melts me into a puddle. Haven't tried 5 yet.

JFC you guys are intense. 10 mg gets me to where I want to be most of the time. 5 if I have to be sociable. 200mg I'd be Fing dead.

Damn. I'm gonna have a lot to learn I see. I  haven't smoked up in over 22 years, and never in my life tried an edible.

Edibles hit everyone differently, so I would listen to paco's advice and start low. The biggest mistake n00bs make with edibles is that they keep eating them because they "don't feel anything." All of a sudden an hour later they're glued to the floor or are freaking out with unfathomable anxiety.

My homemade chocolates take anywhere from 30-60 minutes to kick in, but edibles can take up to 2 or 3 hours for some people to feel anything.

5 to 10mg is a perfect starting point.

Same boat, except maybe 15 years for me

You'll be fine. You can get super technical with strains and chemicals and dosages etc but there are plenty of casual users out there. The line for my local shop usually had just as many old ladies as it does young hipsters.  Start low, go slow, ask the guy behind the counter for advice and you'll be all good. And this is coming from a real lightweight.

Same to you.

10mg doesn't do it for me. 20 gives a nice mild effect and makes me sleep like a baby, but that 30-40mg area is my sweet spot. It's the perfect combination of highness/sociability where I can still speak and think somewhat properly but doesn't turn me into a full blown window licker.

I wouldn't touch edibles until you are comfortable getting high or even stoned. People get anxious over being high and want to see how that goes before touching more potent things.

Also, edibles take time to kick in 30 mins or so. people think they didn't have an effect because smoking is an instant high so they take even more and get blasted.

I only had edibles once and it was a big chocolate chip cookie made with thc butter... I didn't feel anything at first and after a while I realized that I felt like I melted into my bed and was zoned out watching tv... It was super relaxing... Wish I had more

Love Chris Long...

I’m taking a break from dabbing concentrates. The last 2-1/2 grams I got barely lasted a week. 240-300 mg/day. I’ve been off work rehabbing my new knee, and was wake and baking every day. Was getting expensive.
