This.  I think it's the QB more than the coordinator/HC.  His inability to read the field, throw over the middle, constantly escaping from a clean pocket, and decline in running ability is becoming a huge liability for playcalling.

One would think that if that's the case, rather than just having Hurts always drop back and look for an open receiver, Moore (or Siri) would specifically call designed plays to get the ball out quickly into particular players' hands.  That rarely seems to happen.  With the talent on this offense, Hurts really only needs to function as a game manager.  It's bizarre that the play calling isn't designed to use him in that manner.

If the offense were healthy this entire time, I'd understand the criticism. They're just now getting the WR position healthy again and then the starting TE goes down for the game. Not to mention missing Lane for a game, now Mailata is out for a number of weeks.  Once they get healthy I'll be harsh if they're out there looking awful, but right now I'm more concerned with the defense.  They show up one week then take the following one off, so let's hope they don't let Daniel Jones look like Brady this weekend.

Also, the league has every QB figured out, the hard part is actually stopping them. The bigger issues with the Eagles are playcalling and design.

It hasn't looked smooth even when they were healthy or mostly healthy.

I think it's been relatively smooth. The more concerning thing is the play calling, or being too aggressive, which almost cost us vs the Browns.

The only games they've really looked awful in were against the Bucs and Saints. They lost Davonta and Lane in the Saints game and easily passed up 6 points by not taking gimme FG's. The Bucs dominated our defense early and we had no Smitty, AJ, or Lane, so the offense looking like trash wasn't surprising.  Every other time they've needed to move the ball they've pretty much been able to do so, and we're really one drop/one dumb defensive drive away from only having 1 loss.

They did that some last game and someone on here criticized Hurts for it, saying something to the effect of they're making it simpler for him cos he can't read a defense.  I guess it's a positive when Baker does it to avoid pressure, and he torches our defense, yet when Hurts does it, it's because he sucks.

Anyway, l agree to an extent, because Hurts doesn't really need to play hero ball, or force it downfield too often. They can take what the defense is giving them and move the ball easily, and then when the defense tries to adjust, take your shot downfield then.

Sirianni said today at his PC that this offense is based on the strengths of the players. Now in some ways I totally get that, but the offense for the most part seems to be struggling so something needs to change. His comment is suggesting that this is Jalen’s offense as well. What we see is based off the abilities of this quarterback. In the end it doesn’t feel like Moore is making much of an impact at all. Was this a veiled shot at Jalen even though he referenced A.J. Brown? Seems like it to me especially since the Eagles got him out of there as fast as they could soon afterwards.

The correct and right response is........NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Times yours. :groovy:

Good. Then he's not just a cheerleader or CEO.

It's funny ... first people complained, "What's he even here for?" Now it's, "He's still too involved in the offense." lol

But that isn’t good… I’d rather Sirianni was here doing nothing (well actually I’d rather he just wasn’t here ) than meddling with the offense.

The reason we had hope this year was that Kellen is a proven OC with an offense that works in the NFL. We had hope that it would mean Sirianni was hands off the offense because he’s clearly not a very good offensive mind. And yet here we are wondering if he’s too involved? Yes he’s too involved because any involvement by him is too much.

Sirianni was an OC for 3 seasons before being hired as HC by the Eagles. He wasn't fired by his former employer or part of a staff that was let go by them. Moore, on the other hand was let go by Dallas and part of a staff that was fired by the Chargers. People actually were "worried" that Moore was going to be so terrific here that he would be signed as a HC after the season by another team and we'd be stuck with Nick as the HC after he left. When you think about it, it's kind of funny. Fast forward to October 2024 and through 5 games this offense ranks 12th in DVOA. Fans are jumping off a cliff, calling for Sirianni's head and overreacting like they always do because  a 3-2 start wasn't pretty enough.

Moore wasn't the hottest ticket out there while he was unemployed. He has an approach and concepts that have had some success and the Eagles were looking for someone to come in and meld some of those with what this offense already did well. That's what he was brought in to do. Right now, it's a work in progress. Things aren't as bad as some are making them out to be. Jalen Hurts didn't have the best beginning to the season, but appears at the moment to be righting the ship by protecting the ball better. Brown missed 3 games and Smith and Goedert have also missed time. Covey looked like he was going to be much more involved on offense before he injured his shoulder. He had 7 catches on 7 targets before the injury and also had a few more receptions wiped off the stat sheets because of offensive penalties. Barkley, through it all, appears to be getting used properly overall.

The big picture is about the offense improving. Adjustments will be made over the course of the season as the team tries to build off the positives. Nick is the HC and he's clearly been taking the fall for people. Fans believe what they want to believe. But the players are behind the HC and that's what matters most.

At what point will everyone realize, is that it is Hurts! Not Siri, not Moore, but Hurts who is basically does whatever he wants.

I have seen beautifully designed plays, analyzed by experts, in slow motion, Where Hurts audibles or throws to his favorite target, and completely ignores designed play which would have worked. And in these replays, he either missed or threw out of bounds, with a OC designated target being wide open.

Nope… a good amount is Sirianni.

The way the offense has looked. It seems like it is his offense with Jalen's input. Which is very similar to Nick's. I think the offense has been truncated to what Jalen is comfortable with.
