November 17, 20241 yr Author Chris Simms (for once) nailed it before the draft/season on Mitchell. Says he thinks he would have been a top 5 pick if he went to a big school. From what we've seen, I don't think he's wrong.

November 22, 20241 yr I would love to see a highlight reel of his from this season once it's over. A really special season. I've been wanting them to draft a top prospect stud corner for a long time and it's almost unbelievable that we're witnessing it. Being that good as a rookie, not waiting 3 years to develop. It's awesome to watch.
November 25, 20241 yr Author No idea why he was still in during garbage time. His no touchdowns record is now broken but it was meaningless!

All 22 drops tonight so I am planning to verify what I saw in the broadcast. My observation was Cover 4 disguised as Cover 2 pre snap then Rogers and Quinyon dropped into quarters cover at snap. Technically, inside release or seam becomes is safety responsibility. Looked like Brown was late and Mitchell recognized that help wasn’t there and attempted to make up the ground but was already beat. Even if it turns out he was ultimately responsible for the TD, he would join a distinguished list of pro bowl and all pro corners that Cupp has scored a TD on.

Ok, I watched and this was one of Fangio’s split zone schemes. A bit tough to diagnose, but pre snap looks like quarters with deep safeties, post snap actually looks like split zone or the Saban Cover 7. Ultimately the back end rolls into Cover 3 (a Fangio staple) and Sidney gets easily looked off by Stafford to the right side (QB perspective) and Stafford attacks the commitment by throwing seam to Cupp. Problem is with split zones, we can’t ascertain the keys easily and I don’t know if Sidney was in bang or buzz, so he may have been in the proper position given the split assignments and keys. My gut is this is on Brown, but Mitchell could have recognized that there were no receivers attacking the outside 3rd and committed to Cupp.

As a fan, I'm thrilled he's here.
December 1, 20241 yr Author Odds update Verse is coming back to the pack at evens. Mitchell now 9-5. Fiske a threat at 11-2 and don’t rule out cooper at 12-1!

To have not one, but two rookies in the back end and both learning and thriving is a testament to them, the coaching and to Roseman for picking them high when that’s not been done here in a draft since Lito and Sheldon.
December 2, 20241 yr Mitchell just goes out another week and basically shuts his guy down. It looked like today he had a chance for an INT, but he slightly mistimed his jump. I don’t know if he will ever be a guy who gets a lot of turnovers, but he just goes out there and does his job week after week.
