People act like Edwards wanted to stay here or something. It was his dream to be a bear. He signed (agreed to sign)  for under market value to play for a perennial loser, just 3 minutes into the legal tampering period.

That being said, his (TJ's) deal affects the bar for his position and I believe that's where you start with Baun. Since Baun has a smaller sample of starts at ILB, I think the team should try to get a little less guaranteed money in it and more performance based incentives.

That’s up for debate. There were rumors the Eagles didn’t even make Edwards an offer.

Baun isn’t Edwards so I wouldn’t worry about that.

Howie has already joked to Baun about it.  Said something along the lines of, "Remember that I brought you in when you get your contract”. (Jokingly saying to work with him on the contract)

Howie will get it done.

Do you seriously believe that wouldn't have something to do with the player's agent? You're telling me that he had a deal worked out with the bears in just 3 minutes of time, but didn't reach out to the Eagles for even a low-ball offer or with an opportunity to match any offer he receives at the beginning of free agency when he had months to do so ...

It's pretty obvious what happened --- especially since TJ signed for less than his market value.

You can believe what you want but TJ literally said the door in Philly was closed so he went to the Bears. The rumors were right.

That's a lot to process in 3 minutes time. You don't think there's a chance he's the one that closed the door in Philadelphia? There's absolutely nothing in that article that leads me to believe he was hoping or even trying to re-sign with the Eagles. Everything he said points to him fulfilling his dream of being a Chicago Bear.

Clay Harbor had also said that Howie never offered a contract and that TJ wanted to stay in Philly.

Whether or not it's true, who knows?

Either way they should and will make sure Baun stays.

With the way he’s played and with Dean likely to miss some of next year (and I mean who knows if he’ll ever come back the same or at all) I think they have to bring him back!

Baun will be back but the term is where the fighting could get nasty..the agent will try for the longest, Howie will try for 3 year deal.

We can worry about this sometime between Feb 10 and Mar 12.

Do what you can. Eagles haven’t f ha as a consistently good lb in awhile.

I have a gut feeling Baun and Milton Williams will be playing for the Skins next year.

Eagles will replace these 2 with Trotter, Ojomo, veteran FA DT & a draft pick.

Howie will extend Becton and make him the LT with rumors of Lane retiring...

I'm hoping Howie does some magic with Baun, Williams, Becton......

You are selling Cocaine short here.

A little intuition will show you that; as the Eagles only have 19 mill in Cap space, with a Jalen Carter monster contract looming in the future, extending Milton at what he wants is not feasible.

I believe Eagles already tried to extend Williams and he turned it down, he is probably expecting somewhere in the 100 mill deal which the Eagles can't afford. Eagles do not value Linebackers, even though Baun had an amazing year, Roseman and Co would be thinking they can find another Baun with Fangio's guidance at a cheaper price.

Skins with an $82 million cap space will need to rebuild their defense with Jonathan Allen now injury prone and aging, along with having to replace an old Bobby Wagner. Peters is a GM intend on improving the Commanders and he may sign both Baun & Williams.

I am not saying this is what will happen but there is a possibility, it makes sense from their team and cap perspective. Eagles need more depth on the DE and may look into Khalil Mack as this is their Superbowl window, an interior line of Carter, Davis, Ojomo, A veteran FA DT and a solid draft prospect will do, Milton is just a luxury at that point, no need to break the bank for him.

I could definitely see howie valuing receiving some pretty decent 2026 comp picks in exchange for not overpaying some of these players..

I like Baun and would like to have him back but no one expected this type of season coming and hopefully in the same system he could have another 1-2 similar seasons but the right number is for howie to determine. I could see another team offering him a  Big contract but I don’t see him playing as well for another team/in a different system.

Howie will add to that 19 mil. Slay and Huff are most likely gone after this year. Add in Bradberry. Not sure what the cap savings are. That's @paco job

Yeap, I am thinking similar here, unlikely Howie signs both Williams & Baun or either one..

I think depending on comp picks is a myth. When you get them. it's great, but if you are letting high priced guys go, that frees up cap space for other teams' UFAs and that might cancel out some of the picks you'd potentially receive.

I think we'll re-sign Baun. I expect Williams to get starting money and as an UFA, some team will overpay to get him. I don't think we'll be able to justify what he'll sign for. Playmaking off-ball LBs aren't super expensive, which is why I expect Baun to sign here. "Howie doesn't value LBs" is a myth just like he doesn't value RBs or draft DBs high in the draft. Howie cares about building a winning team that can keep winning.

Forgot about Slay & Bradberry being expendable.. However the Bryce Huff contract is tricky, even if the Eagles trade him they would take quite hit on the Cap, cutting him would incur a horrible cap hit.....

Easily 12-15M  per season (3yrs?). If he had a consistent career playing at this level, 20M.

Howie should add in incentives to sweeten the pie

Im thinking Graham, Sweat, Williams wont be back next season. Bradberry & Slay as well? That opens up some cash to resign Baun and Becton.

Lane has already said hes back next season.

Some team with gobs of money will make Baun an offer he can't refuse and the Eagles can't/ won't compete with. Let's face it, it's a team friendly deal or nothing. He's as good as gone.

The market for off-ball LBs isn't as big as you think. People feel like the Eagles don't value them when in reality, it's a league-wide approach. The Eagles know Baun and his fit within our system and how he works with our coaching. To other teams, breaking the bank on him would be like the Eagles signing Huff last year. Combine that with a player at a position most teams don't invest as much in.
