Keep kicking the can down the road Democrats. The Cares Act gave hundreds of billions to the private sector due to the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Keep it and keep bailing it out every time it approaches bankruptcy, or, privatize it (or sell it) and let it succeed or fail on its own. The hybrid experiment that us the USPS today has clearly failed. I bet we call all agree it need restructuring, but tell us why now. As someone who served overseas and mailed my ballot in why does he do this now? As someone else mentioned he is killing his base in rural areas who rely on the USPS for last mile delivery. Just another forward thinking move by this idiot

The Dude, you're embarrassing yourself. The USPS' debt is backed by the federal government, look it up. If they run up liabilities the taxpayer is ultimately on the hook. Unless of course, we allow them to go bankrupt...but Democrats don't want that for some reason.

Just another forward thinking move by this idiot I suppose there are one of two explanations.... A. He's trying to screw it up to prove his point that mail in voting won't work. This is a clever narrative, but I doubt even he is that dumb. B. He wants to try to fix it and build in some controls in prior to the election to ensure mailed in votes are counted properly I'm sure the gaggle of group thinkers in here will laugh at me...but I'm pretty confident it's the latter. I mean, what sense does it make for Trump to screw up the delivery mechanism for votes prior to the election? He needs the votes too, right?

The GOP governing strategy sucked up by rubes is so simple, "starve the beast". We can't have government work or else private biz couldn't rape you 6 ways from Sunday. Any surprise the GOP spun the postal service out of the cabinet? Anyone that has actually shipped for a business knows its USPS>>>>>>UPS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FedEx. FedEx is worthless than a steaming pile of diarrhea in terms of service, customer service, or well actually doing what it's paid to do. I've run a few e-commerce business and can't describe how much I hate FedEx and how trash they are both as a seller and buyer. Ironic is the gubment subsidizing them, cause no way they'd be in business without it.

He needs the votes too, right? Because he thinks he can 1. suppress democratic turnout and 2. get more enthusiasm out of his base by picking a fight with a "big wasteful spending government agency". He's not wrong on the latter, but irrespective of how enthused a voter is their vote only counts once (unless you're comparing Wyoming to California but I digress) You give way too much of the benefit of the doubt to Trump. He's not that complicated. He's not that smart. He doesn't see 2 moves ahead. He barely sees one move ahead most of the time. He's a reactive creature who uses social media reactions to make decisions.
August 13, 20205 yr The USPS is a subsidized public service. For most of it's history it ran a "deficit", though it always had some form of self funding through delivery fees and eventually standardized stamps. There was no mandate or expectation for the USPS to be 100% self funded from it's inception through today. This is a meaningless standard that critics attempt to use as some sort of baseline. It's not a business. It shouldn't be treated as a business. That's not to say it cannot be judged for it's efficiency or lack thereof, but "profitability" is not a goal, it's not in its charter, and is a completely meaningless point unless your goal is to shift the narrative away from the losing one.
August 13, 20205 yr He is just giving the dummy way too much credit, but he did pass this test with flying colors. So maybe we are all idiots So

August 14, 20205 yr 5 minutes ago, BBE said: This is just dumb. I don't disagree. It's equally dumb to argue we should treat a public service like the USPS as a business. The Army, along with other branches of the armed forces (especially the Navy) help not only to protect the nation, but to establish conditions conducive to international commerce. It's very hard to price the value of this public service. The USPS assures that mail and parcels can reach every citizen of this nation, regardless of their origin or destination. This ubiquitous access afforded to the nation's citizens is also hard to price. For most, anyway.
