One of them also charges for its services which makes it very much a different matter.

The USPS is the ukn worst. Ill use just about any other carrier I can before using them. They take forever, lose ish all the time, damage ish all the time and do nothing when those things happen. They can go ahead and shut down shop for all I care.

It absolutely should be treated as a business

If you want to go after bloated government spending the USPS is like the last Fing thing you should look at.

Medicare entitlements and military spending are soooooooooo five years ago.

I'm sure the House and Senate will work tirelessly to get a COVID bill passed and include additional funds for the Post Office.

Ohhhhh wait they are all on recess until September.

Absolutely. As everyone knows, the best way to fix budget shortfalls caused by entitlement spending is to reduce the ability to generate revenue!

In all seriousness though, it could be as simple as creating more real estate in sorting facilities to accommodate increased levels of parcel delivery... a segment of USPS operations that has seen huge levels of growth in recent years.

The problem with making decisions like that aimed at maximizing efficiency and profit is the sacrifice of mail sorting capacity. Treating the USPS like a business means that your making cuts to mail operations, a segment of the USPS that isn't exactly growing or profitable. Unfortunately for all of us, USPS Mail is how ballots are delivered and received.

So, to recap, no we shouldn't be treating the USPS like a business because it is one of the institutions tasked with protecting our Constitutional right to vote... something that is not and never should be a profiteering enterprise.

apparently, at least in this case, it was pretty obvious. the only way he could have made it more obvious is if he used crayon.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that we'd arrive at the point where you just straight up deny saying something everyone can see you said a page ago.

I think we're probably done here.

How about you go find the post where I said it smart guy

Even 64% of Trump voters support giving the USPS some help during a pandemic so people feel they have an option to vote safely.

This could end up being a big issue in a few months.

He literally stated that is what he is doing. He SAID it.

And everywhere, Republicans who have a few brain cells to rub together exclaimed in frustration "DUDE YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO SAY THAT OUT LOUD!!!"

Ok, so you're half right here.  I was backpacking with my son through Wednesday with no connectivity so I missed his press conference on USPS.

What he said was that the Democrats are asking for $25B to fund the USPS.  Part of that money is supposed to go to preparing for this mail in voting scenario.  Without that funding, Trump was saying they probably wouldn't be able to do mail in voting.  All that being said, the fight over the $25B is between Pelosi and McConnell and they are at a stalemate...it really doesn't have anything to do with Trump at this point.

Still don't think its fair to connect the dots through to the conclusion that Trump's actions at USPS are an attempt to rig the election.
