We let him go thinking it would be easy to find another reliable WR3...and here we are with a pretty non existant passing threat beyond AJ and Devonta.

Who says Dotson isn't reliable? Heck, Quez was fine as WR3. You would think by now Eagles fans would figure out that a 3rd WR is just not a big part of the gameplan. We are passing 43% of the time. Try to keep up.

Another Opa banger!

We have a good third option in Goedert. Calcaterra has looked serviceable as well. I haven't went in depth after the games,  but has Dotson even really been looked at in the passing game? It is seeming like we go short or deep with no in-between. Legitimate question; is Dotson playing that poorly, or has he not been looked at on the field?

Hurts can't get thru his progressions fast enough.......he's just too slow.  I don't care who is WR3 when the QB doesn't throw his way because he never gets thru his reads.

Dotson is a very good receiver......but you can't catch balls that aren't thrown to you.

Thinking Greg Ward would fix things is a joke.....

Goedert just can’t stay healthy.

I don’t think anyone is expecting Dotson to go out there and catch 70 plus passes; however, we now have multiple games where the Eagles didn’t have their first, second, and even their third receiver options available and Dotson just hasn’t come up with any kind of reliable play. Against the Ravens they had no Smith, and Goedert got hurt, and Dotson provides one catch for seven yards. That lack of productivity is inexcusable when the Eagles are down that many weapons.

Umm… No.

Ward was fine when we didn’t have much at WR but no he’s not the answer. The answer is on the roster already and that’s Dotson. Hurts needs to trust him more and Dotson just needs to do more and better. There’s no need to bring anyone else in at this point unless there’s injuries.

Also, when we are only throwing 15-20 passes a game there’s only so many catches to be made! AJ is going to get the bulk of those every week and then Smitty. Throw in Goedert and Barkley catching a couple a week and Dotson getting what seems to be 1 a week and there’s the full quota of throws.

We've had this discussion for years......the eagles have been "searching" for a 3rd WR but can't find any??  The problem is with Hurts.....he's become a 2 look QB because he is so f----- slow with his reads.   He looks for Brown too long and then Smith, then he gets out of the pocket.,....

I can't believe that nobody seems to see this.....he's too slow with his progressions.  And until he gets better at it, the eagles will always be looking for a 3rd WR who won't get thrown to.

QBs get 3.5 seconds to read, decide and deliver the ball.  Just watch Hurts......just too dam slow.

We have had multiple seasons where both Smith and Brown have put up huge numbers with "slow reading” Jalen Hurts at quarterback.  This season even Calcatera has had multiple catch games. Maybe just maybe this WR doesn’t have a friggin clue where he’s supposed to be out there.

When you have 2 really good WRs, they are good at getting open, BUT, they don't get open all the time, and Hurts waits too long for them to get open.  That's why the top passing QBs go thru progressions quickly and spread the ball around.   That's just ridiculous to think that Dotson "doesn't know where to be". LMAO....

Is it ridiculous, because I don’t think the Commanders walk away from a guy they believe consistently gets open. Like I wrote even Grant C made catches in Goedert’s absence. Even Wilson gets passes thrown his way. Acting like Dotson has nothing to do with this is actually ridiculous.

Jalen goes through his progressions more than people give him credit for.

There is definitely a "trust factor" with Jalen when it comes to target volume. Obviously he trusts Brown, Smith, and Goedert. This season, he has begun trusting Calcaterra when Goedert is out. I don't think he's really established that "trust" with Dotson yet. Dotson made a couple nice key grabs leading up to the Washington game and it looked early in that game like Dotson would see more targets than in previous weeks. But he did have that drop and then didn't really see any more targets that game. But the pass volume right now is so incredibly low with our running game taking over in the 2nd half each week.

Dotson is still under contract next season and I believe he and Jalen will develop some chemistry by next season. But right now the Eagles have something that is working and they aren't messing with it too much.

Dotson had enough potential to be drafted in the 1st round and I'm hopeful that being in the WR room with Brown and Smith will help him become even better. I'm also hoping he works out in the offseason with Jalen to build some chemistry heading into 2025. I know Johnny Wilson was able to do that with Jalen between OTAs and that has helped him get targeted a few times in his limited snaps.

Op should step in front of a train

Yeah its not like the commanders are loaded with talent. They had a rookie QB that needs all the weapons he can get. So why would the commanders trade him in the division to an already loaded roster especially after taking him in the first round? Doesn't sound like he is a solid receiver to me given those scenarios.

Averaging 21.5 passing attempts a game won't matter who's #3.... Guesstimation.... AJ 8, Smith 6, Goedert 4, Barkley 2

Dotson might still be struggling with the playbook as well. He was traded just before the season started so he still could be learning terminology. He might not be ready, but they really don’t have any other options to go with. Still the Commanders do not make an in division trade if they thought they were giving the Eagles elite talent. They gave up on this dude in his third season and his first with the new coaching staff. Every now and again a team pulls one over Howie and I think this guy was one of those times.

The problem is Goedert, Brown, and Smith have all missed multiple games. Someone needs to step up and Dotson doesn’t seem to be the guy.

Only one that matters in that equation is AJ. Our W/L with/without him is ridiculous.

The Tampa game had no Smith and no Brown and they couldn’t move the football. Hurts looked terrible and Barkley didn’t even break 100 yards. When players go down someone needs to step up and Dotson hasn’t shown he can.

Want to know something scary?  Johan has only 50 more receiving yards more than Quez Watkins through his first 3 years... Quez also had a higher yards per reception ( by a slim margin) and 6 less touchdowns but, quez also has a higher catch percentage. Quez was a 6th round pick... Dotson is a  middle of the 1st round pick.... Tells me all i need to know about Dotson.

Well that says a lot. Quez (like Dotson) was forced to move inside where I don’t think he was comfortable. Still Quez was a 6th round pick. A first rounder basically putting up Quez numbers isn’t good.

Quez started outside his second year and put up 43 catches for 647 yards for 15 yards per reception. The yards and the y/r reception beat out Dotson's best year. Dotson really only has quez in touchdowns. Dotson has how many games where he was the #1 or #2 receiver this year? Enough to do more than he is thats for sure.

Cant believe Dotson has me defending freaking quez Watkins @brkmsn would be proud 🤣🤣
