Could the Jets or Giants come after Howie?

Late on Christmas night on WFAN's show with Danielle McCartan (@Coach McCartan on X/Twitter), a caller suggested the Jets and/or Giants could both come after Howie Rosenman, looking to pry him away from the Eagles:

While I do think Lurie would do whatever it takes to keep Howie if it comes to that, do you see either New York team come after him (more likely the Giants for now unless the NFL were to suspend the Johnson family and force a sale of the Jets to interests of the NFL's choosing for what we found out several days ago)?

Well, there's still 5 more days left for the dumbest thread of the year award, but im confident you got this locked for the win.

I wonder if someone would be dumb enough to create a thread expressing an interest in benching any of our star players simply because they made a mistake in a game?

Probably not, that would be ridiculous, but it would be funny if it happened!

You never know. At dinner last night my drunk uncle suggested that he might have a threesome with Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson. It was definitely worth seriously discussing the possibility!

I was simply throwing out what was suggested.

I'm sure Jets and Giants fans see what Howie has done here and think he could duplicate it in The Meadowlands.

No, he's highly paid and couldn't be offered a promotion.

He is the most powerful man in the organization is zero promotion possible

I don't even think a promotion would matter if it was even possible. His job security here is so insane. When he was in the doghouse they didn't get rid of him, just moved his title.

They're both terrible organizations, so I am going to say no.

Instead of asking whether it could happen, why are you not asking why it would? Why on earth would Howie go to one of the NY teams? In fact there are probably only a handful of teams he would even consider because he’s got a really good spot here!

He’s his a loaded roster right now (that he’s been a huge part of building). He’s got an owner who runs the team well. The owner also is really good at supporting Howie to manage the cap by giving up front bonuses etc. He’s also got an owner who has supported him even when there’s been an argument to move on. There’s no reason for Howie to move, he can’t do up.

The question is  What could they possibly offer him to consider a move?  With the position he has with the eagles, the jets couldn't really top that....

What is his salary here?

Maybe a NY Team comes after him with double that?? I would take it.

What organizational position in a NFL team hierarchy is higher than what Howie has now?

NFL rules prohibit "poaching” for a lateral move.  The move has to be a promotion to a higher level.  More money alone is simply a "raise” ant as such not sufficient to make the move comply with the provisions of the NFL Rulebook.
