Well plenty of other players have had their appreciation threads … I don’t think the contributions Nolan has been making should go without giving him his props.  He really caught a lot of flak around here last year for not contributing much as a 1st rd pick but damn man he’s really stepped up his game here in year 2 … it comes at a time when we really needed it with losing BG and Huff being such a disappointment.

What a turnaround that young man enjoyed! From last year where he struggled as a rookie to in the first few weeks of this year where those struggles continued! He has been on a tear since then though and there’s every chance he’s a long term piece of this defense.

We were worried about his size, but his athleticism and speed off the edge is what gets him success. Hits hard for an undersized pass rusher

I agree entirely with the sentiment, he's been absolutely stellar. But, man, I miss when we gave rookies time to mature into the league. I remember the ish BG used to get here early in his career

I know it isn't exactly an "apple-to-apple" comparison (since comparing a draft pick going from his rookie season into his 2nd year and a free agent that has been acclimated to life in the NFL but also going into a different environment/system, but hoping Huff can make a similar jump next year.

He looks like a younger Haason Reddick. His ability to bend the corner is already elite. The sack that he got yesterday was fun to watch.

He's gonna have to get to PM.  Think he can do it.

Ive been his #1 fan since he was drafted and that never wavered! Ask @NOTW

It's true. you got on me for saying he was developing, albeit slowly. Well he's accelerated that. You can thank me for giving him that motivation. :smoke:

I can't wait to see how his repertoire develops as an OLB/EDGE.

And 1 more game to (**hopefully**) add to that total.  :flex:

Its a nice  surprise so far. I wrote him  off after being completely useless last year. Goes to show how bad our  defensive coordinators were last year

After last year, I think most of us would have been somewhat satisfied if he turned into a serviceable player. He's not only become serviceable, he's a difference maker and a big reason why the Eagles are going to the SB.

With his attitude and athleticism, I'm excited to see him become a star.

I def wanted him at 30 but I don't post too often so I don't have the receipts to back that 😅😅

But even I was wondering if we were gonna start making Smith vs Brian Branch like we had Graham vs Earl Thomas but he's def become a key piece even earlier than what Graham did

Was a huge fan when drafted and didn't waiver until around the bye week.

He was the #1 overall recruit in the country. At Georgia, all the players and coaches swore by him. He was always going to make it, just took a couple of games.

I was concerned about his size. I no longer am. He's developing nicely and should have a positive impact every week going forward, starting in SB 59.

He didn't struggle this year (early). He may not have had sacks the first few games, but he was playing solid. He actually had a terrific preseason that fans around here discounted. He was even one of the few guys that played well in the wildcard loss last season. It just takes a long time for pessimists to come around and admit what they are seeing is real.  At the beginning of the season, Huff was the starter, but Smith consistently outperformed him.

That's life in TATE ... much easier to label a player a bust than it is to show recognition for when they start playing well.
