January 30, 2025Jan 30 I would be OK with Reich or McCown. Another option is Mark Brunell from Lions (current QB coach). I am hoping Moore declines the Saints job and stays another year so Hurts gets continuity.
January 30, 2025Jan 30 I think you guys hoping for Reich are forgetting something incredibly important. The fact of the matter is, while 'never say never' certainly applies here, Sirianni once talked about bringing Reich on as part of the staff and if I remember correctly, implied that the former relationship of teacher to student (Reich to Sirianni) made that more than a bit awkward. Sirianni for a NFL head coach has an abnormal willingness to put aside his ego, not so sure Reich is the same way.

I do wonder if Moore would stay if we are hoisting that Lombardi trophy. $$$$ talks, and what the Saints are offering will be waaayyy more than an OC makes. And in this league, it's $$$, not loyalty, that wins out, sadly. Unless he is the kind of guy that says "let's go get another one" and isn't worried about $$$. That would be RARE.
January 30, 2025Jan 30 When the eagles hired Moore, they also hired his QB coach Doug Nussmeier. Nussmeier has been with Moore for a few years in Dallas and San Diego. If they're looking for some continuity, I can see them promoting Nussmeier or Patullo to the OC position if Moore leaves.

I don't blame him for taking the opportunity.

It also seems like the Saints H.C. job provides a greater than average chance to become a "failed head coach". The New Orleans job seems best for an older failed Head Coach looking for one last pay day. Let them take their beating on the salary cap/draft picks situation so the next Head Coach has some resources to work with.

Outside 2017 Pederson's offenses were the worst Eagles offense to watch in the last 30 years, and he just spent 3 years taking Trevor Lawrence nowhere, I wouldn't want him anywhere near this team.
January 30, 2025Jan 30 It will never happen in a million years but honestly Chip Kelly would absolutely kill it with this QB and Saquon, it'd literally be the roster he's been searching for his entire career.

He had Vick, McCoy and Jackson who were supposed to be the ideal NFL trio for his offense. He got rid of them. He wouldn't like how Barkley wears his socks or walks on the grass so he'd trade him for a smoothie maker.

He hated McCoy and wanted Murray as a between the tackles runner (and then destroyed his interior line), Vick had a 12 game purple patch as an Eagle 3 years before Kelly arrived, he was a broken down journeyman by 2013. If we're going to argue about something I admitted was never going to happen at least argue seriously.

So for me we really need to find a Fangio type for the O, who has a good track record as a OC, but has either failed as a head coach or is getting to the age where they aren’t interested in a HC role. Reich seems an obvious candidate! Yeah, I'm really getting tired of the revolving door coordinators. I think there's a lot to be said with the Chiefs' success and their continuity at offensive and defensive coordinators over the past 4 seasons; 6 with the same defensive coordinator.

Wait wtf. People were talking about Nick's led offense (last year) being trash, but Doug literally did not have any offense inside the top 10 in points scored except the Super Bowl year. ..... People are even harsher on Nick than I realized (and I didn't think that was possible), holy crap. Thanks for the information.

That's a special case scenario because Andy is too good. It effectively gives a clear note that: "Hey, the reason for the success here is Andy Reid." You'll get some of this effect here eventually, but this is the problem with younger coaches at HC. You're going to have people plucking your talent up until they figure out your tree is poor. Shane and Gannon aren't doing amazing so that might cool off soon. It's similar to how no matter how much success he has, Belichick's tree rarely would get plucked. Because they prove to be poor everywhere else.
January 31, 2025Jan 31 What we need is someone like Vic that has no aspirations of becoming a HC anymore. Doing a reset on offense every year sucks. Get someone who won't move on and is happy as an OC that has playcalling

My biggest concern with Patullo is that he has never coordinated a full offense before (but he has served as pass game coordinator - with Stout pretty much handling the running game coordination then that may not be a major concern). If continuity is key perhaps Nussmeier may make more sense. He has 10 years of OC experience (albeit at the college level but still ... ).

Just get another chargers cast off and keep going to the super bowl every 2 years and be done with it

I personally feel like Sirianni can get more involved again calling plays. He should have a pretty good feel for it after relinquishing that duty for the past few seasons. A promotion within will keep the terminology the same for the players and help us keep anything positive that Moore added this last season. In other words, I'm less concerned about the OC since we have a HC with an offensive background. If you take the Andy Reid approach, you just promote within, let them get opportunities elsewhere and ultimately fail (while learning valuable lessons) and then bring them back when the next team creates an opening on your staff. So maybe Patullo or Nussmeier this season and Steichen returns in a year or two.
