DaEagles4Life Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Was an ATC In the Navy and that was a fun job. 1
Bill Posted January 30 Posted January 30 CRJ701 out of Wichita. Ran back the flight data. Was at around 400ft. May have initiated a clime right before impact, which would be indicative of a TCAS alert, but that could be wonky ADS-B data as it was showing 900ft. At either rate, looks like it hit the water somewhere around 90-110kts (just a shade over 100mph). not sure of the seating configuration, but ballpark 60-80, but usually flights this late aren’t booked to capacity
DaEagles4Life Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Heard it on the scanner they were cutting out EMS

mayanh8 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Everything i see says the injuries are to divers, no survivors.
VaBeach_Eagle Posted January 30 Posted January 30 That's a shame. Having grown up not far from there, I've flown into Reagan National many times, though back then it was just National Airport. You always hope for survivors, but in a case like this, I think that's unlikely. Hopeful, but unlikely.
VaBeach_Eagle Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Statement from U.S. Figure Skating: Quote U.S. Figure Skating can confirm that several members of our skating community were sadly aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a helicopter yesterday evening in Washington, D.C. DiPros Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Too bad we can't prevent him from opening his damn mouth!! Shameful statement. Can't say I'm the least bit surprised. Human error on part by the black hawk pilot? Too soon to know of course. Sorry to wake up to this news. Two Russian skaters also on board. 3

Gannan Posted January 30 Posted January 30 It seems to me that we've had a lot of near misses over the past year or 2. I kept fearing something like this would happen. 1
