February 2Feb 2 So basically a helicopter can fly under the 200' ceiling in an airspace that would be the correct path for a landing plane? How the hell is that the case? I'd expect that the space in front of the runway to be totally restricted.

Well, normally there’d be two controllers on, not one, and most of the time when pilots have a visual on the other airplane, they have the right visual. If you want to have some fun, go watch as many VASAviation vids on YouTube as you can. You’ll realize how often stuff happens.
February 2Feb 2 I've seen a lot of people online and in person express concern and an increased anxiety about flying as a result of this accident. I get that. When something this tragic happens, it's natural to feel like this could be you the next time you board a flight without thinking about it beyond a superficial level. Obviously the rate of fatal car accidents dwarf fatal aircraft accidents by such a massive margin that we've normalized and largely ignored the former while we hyper focus and over-analyze the latter. There's also an element of control when you're the driver of a vehicle that you surrender when you put your life in the hands of a pilot you've never met or even seen. I won't fault anyone for having those types of feelings. But there's at least two people I've talked to now (one is a relative of my wife!) who've insinuated this happened because one of the helo pilots was a woman. People are gonna believe what they want to believe, and a lot of that is influenced by who they vote for and what's happened to them in life, but it sure would be nice if they didn't act like cartoon characters who reflexively need to demonize someone based on their gender or pretend these types of events never happened when only men were pilots.

Mass shootings probably outnumber those caused by airplane accidents.

My dad pointed it out that the pilot was a woman .. said " nothing wrong with that but, its interesting it was a woman" im like ok then Gave 2 sheets about the Philly one. Wonder why that is 🤔

Even still, the FLIR image is coming up on a small MFD, so it’s more or less to get a closer look at something or to use as a targeting system for onboard weapons, not for navigation. Im pretty sure what happened is that when they confirmed visual they were looking at a different aircraft further away, but it’s going to take a year at least for the NTSP to do their thing. That makes the most sense to me, looking at the wrong airplane.

February 2Feb 2 Imagine having to defend your dead daughter's qualifications in a public statement because a bunch of baby-fisted highschool dropouts on the internet are taking out their incel rage on her. So pathetic.

February 3Feb 3 Yea it's no longer shocking or edgy. We already know the most disgusting pieces of garbage on this planet are almost exclusively Trump voters.

A lesbo Biden chopper pilot killed a planeload of people because of an outrageous error. Not pointing that out wouldn't bring anyone back even though the truth hurts your feelings for some reason.

February 3Feb 3 Again, this is why it's so good that Trump brought up DEI. People need to understand that democrats have intentionally made flying less safe for the sole purpose of discriminating against a race of people. Imagine how utterly brainwashed you have to be to vote for this.

Second, it doesn't matter if she is lesbian you fin g idiot!

February 3Feb 3 Man, attacking a member of our military who just died is about as low as it can possibly get. That's awful even for the worst of people.
