Especially with all that goes on with ground crews who had to halt so emergency response could get going. It's got to be a crazy job at times. I've always found it fascinating, especially on 9/11 that there were no crashes during the ground stop. Quite an unforgettable feat. I did it in the Navy, ATCi. It's basically video games at the highest level. Wish I tried out for Combat Controllers in the Air Force but didn't know about.
January 30Jan 30 Trump blaming minorities for a plane crash less than 12 hours after it happened HAS to be an all time top 5 Trump moment.

Yeah, I agree this is one of the worst ones. Let's see if it lasts one week on the front page or not. I doubt it.

Had a buddy who made it through phase one of it, then busted his leg on an obstacle course over a case of beer. Apparently not having an officer present when the obstacle course sign has printed on it in very tiny letters that an officer must be present during use is Article 15 worthy. Who knew?

Yeah you probably would. I haven't heard it personally but one ATC transcript I read had the controller advising the Black Hawk crew about the CRJ. The Black Hawk crew reported the CRJ in sight. ATC said to pass behind the CRJ. Why did they collide? Was the Black Hawk crew looking at the wrong airplane? I have no idea. I do agree that doing training/proficiency flights over that portion of the river when RWY. 33 approaches at DCA are in use which cross the river at low altitude seems kinda dumb.

There is a severe shortage right now, and it will be years until we can train enough to catch up. Why would you hope it’s a long time away?

Because I read Science and Technology sites that I think look at the real world, not publications that has AI pooping Unicorn turds and pumping technology stocks. There are already safety backups in place in the ATC system that could be viewed as AI. But they're assistants which can be ignored or over ridden when appropriate.

I’m hearing the black hawk crew were wearing NVGs. Wouldn’t there be too much light pollution in that area to fly with NVGs?
