Procus Posted January 30 Posted January 30 https://www.audacy.com/94wip/sports/eagles/philadelphia-eagles-kellen-moore-replacements-saints-coach 5 replacements for Eagles' OC Kellen Moore Joe Giglio listed five potential replacements for Moore on his WIP Daily Podcast on Wednesday. 1. Kevin Patullo (age 43) - Currently the Eagles' passing game coordinator and has been with Nick Sirianni since 2018 when they joined the Indianapolis Colts together. 2. Doug Nussmeier (age 54) - Currently Eagles' QB coach, but chance he goes with Kellen Moore to the Saints; His son is the LSU starting quarterback. 3. Scott Tolzien (age 37): Former QB. Currently the Cowboys' QB coach in 2023 and 2024 and was an assistant under Kellen Moore in Dallas. 4. Josh McCown (age 45): Currently the Vikings' QB coach and former Eagles QB. 5. Matt Nagy (age 46): Currently the Chiefs' OC. He is from Dunellen, NJ and went to the University of Delaware. Moore signed with the Eagles this past offseason to be their offensive coordinator after spending 2023 as the LA Chargers' OC. Moore was the Cowboys' offensive coordinator from 2019-2022. The Eagles were 8th in the NFL in total yards per game and 7th in the NFL in points per game this season under Moore. Philadelphia, with Saquon Barkley and an elite offensive line, finished 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards per game (179.3 yards/game).
Portyansky Posted January 30 Posted January 30 If those are my only 5 choices, I'm picking Nagy. I don't want a project OC, I want someone experienced bc the O will be 100% his. They won't have a HC to fall back on, bc we all know Siri is not that guy.

He did a great job with the Vikings this season.

UK_EaglesFan89 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 McCown would be an interesting choice. I think he did a great job with Darnold this year and has long been touted to be a really good coach in the league. But that would be a huge gamble so I’m not sure. None of those names above fill me with much confidence and I think I’d want us to go external with the hire.
EaglesAddict Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Not a compelling list. What'll be interesting is if Sirianni will be given the freedom to choose his own OC without any "direction" from Howie and Co.

Like it was for Doug, building a strong staff doesn't seem to be a strength of Nick's. If it was Howie and Co. that was responsible for bringing in Moore and Fangio, then I am happy to let them do the choosing.

I think Moore was probably on their short "preferred" list. And yeah, sometimes head coaches are just too loyal to their people and it effects their judgement when filling positions on their staff. Both Siri and Doug had initial strong picks as their OC and DC but just couldn't backfill them. Doug's loyalty is what led him to be let go whereas Siri decided to cave and/or be more "flexible" in their stance. 1

If Moore leaves (kinda seems likely at this point ... which sucks) then sure hope they find the right guy to fill the spot (like they did with Moore) and we don't go down that loyalty road again. Hate to take a step backwards. 1

Hate to take a step backwards. Yep...definitely not sure about anyone on the list in this article. I'd take a really close look at Bobby Slowik...can't blame all of Houston's offensive problems on him when their OL was complete garbage and lost 2 of their main 3 WRs (and even lost Nico for a stretch). Last year he was a hot HC prospect. Then there's Frank Reich, if he'd be interested in coming back to coaching. He'd be solid.

Implication from your post is that Howie et al. are bad meddlers which I disagree with.

Typically, NFL head coaches have always picked their own staff. I said above that both Pederson and Sirianni both picked initial strong coordinators but couldn't backfill...then Howie and Co stepped in. So, what I'm saying is that if Moore leaves, will Sirianni be given the freedom of picking his next OC without any involvement or will Howie have some say in the matter? That kind of situation can create animosity.
LacesOut Posted February 1 Posted February 1 He's gone. So the they better find one that Jalen can work with. SMFH.
Breeze 44 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Chance Moore stays... Not happy with their QB room at all as well as their salary cap hell...could stay for another run in Philly to boost his value and better jobs open up. The saints would kill his his value and forever after he would be an OC
birdman#12 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Kellen Moore is committing career suicide going to New Orleans......their salary cap issues alone are going to gut the team of a lot of talent. Kellen Moore should wait one more year..... 1
