Positives:

-Jalen,  dude just wins
-Offense, young outside of Lane and he is still playing at an elite level
-Defense, got better all year and are also young
-SB hitting his prime

Questions:
Baun, number one priority for Howie and I am certain he is back
Sweat, I think gone
Milton, most likely gone
Becton, most likely gone
Slay, most likely gone
Offensive Coordinator, this is a big question mark

Needs:
Replacements for Sweat and  Milton
O-Line will need a right tackle and maybe for Lane this year or next in the draft (Lane may be good for two more years at an elite level) so maybe no worries

Reason for optimism:
-The core is coming back
-Howie, hopefully he kills the draft again
-Jerrah Jones (just joking but not really)

They should still be a powerhouse for years to come, especially if Howie continues to knock it out of the park with draft picks and FA signings.  Otherwise it's back to the basement for him! (jk Howie Humpers 🤣)

I had a lot of dislike for Howie but that dude (outside of Huff), has been rock solid. Just visit the cowboys forums and they would kill for Howie as would most other teams. I give him his due. He put the roster together and it is not even auguebly the best. Howie used to try to draft the next Alshon but he has gotten off that kick, best player available these days.

I’d say the talent is there obviously but they have a much tougher schedule next year. They also need to try and bring back 2 or 3 of the main 4 free agents if possible.

Baun will for sure  will be back (I would be super dissapointed if not since he was a playmaker on defense every game), I think Milton, Sweat and Becton will be gone (and they benefited huge from Carter). Schedule is what it is, there is no team the Birds should fear. The core of the team will remain.  Possibly even be better as they are young for the most part and have potential to improve.

They should, but you never know if injuries appear, or if the new OC will be up to par, or if a few players regress.

Hopefully they just keep balling. It'll be fun to watch.

I know everyone says that Milton and Sweat will both be gone. Don't you think they'll try using the franchise tag on Sweat?

I don’t think Howie has ever used it has he? I can’t see him using it but I did see that Williams said he wants to be back in Philly but wants to be paid right. Which is fair enough as he knows he’s going to get some big offers.

No - Sweat’s number would be 25 million. We can’t afford that.

We will lose FA's. We may have more injuries. Tougher schedule. New OC (any other Coaches leaving)?

Always unknown's. I expect a playoff appearance, but not expecting another SB appearance for next season..

The whole division has that "tougher schedule".....except for like 1 or 2 games.  I expect the Eagles to probably win the Division again.....breaking that stupid no one has won in consecutive years...the Giants suck, Dallas will continue to suck and Washington.....something tells me, they are going to backslide.  So now the question comes down to, will they win enough games to get the 1 or 2 seed again?  We shall see indeed!

I mean here is the Commanders schedule, they may very well be a 10-7 team:

Home

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • New York Giants
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Chicago Bears
  • Denver Broncos
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Detroit Lions
  • Away
  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • New York Giants
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • Minnesota Vikings
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Miami Dolphins

Becton - Gone. Would really like to have him back but I think he might have priced himself out of the Eagles. Plus Tyler Steen has shown very good progress to take over..

Milton - Gone for sure. No way he is worth the 100 mill he is expecting, he had a great year playing next to Carter, if Carter wasnt there he is just an OK DT imo. Eagles have better options at a cap friendly cheaper deals; could sign Jonathan Allen or even Javon Hargreave both expected to be cap casualties. Moro Ojomo is developing very nicely into a starter...

Sweat - Gone for sure. We can rely on draft, Khalil Mack another FA etc...

Baun - 50/50.

Slay - Gone..

Isiah Rodgers - Would like to have him back but, only if he is keen on being an inside corner at the right price. Coop & Q on the outside would be 🔥...

Will we go back for a 2 peat ? Yeah I think so...

Yes.  Eagles will contend again next year.  #LockedAndLoaded.

They will repeat as Super Bowl Champions.

Right - we have a great chance, but we will lose some key defensive players in free agency and we were lucky in terms of injuries this year.

Heck of a roster still though…

They keep saying Ojomo will take Milton Williams place. I got laughed at when I showed their numbers. To me, Milton Williams is the type of player you keep. He was drafted, developed and blossomed under you. Mo money, Mo problems.

Next year will be harder than this one.  Short offseason, multiple key players will be leaving, another new OC and possibly other coaches to replace.

Can we please finally beat a Pete Carroll coached team next season.

If slay who has 1yr remaining likely gone, does that mean bradberry could be as well? Also 1 yr remaining

Slay $13m

Brad 12m

Any cap issues dumping both?

Id really hate to see coop change position. Ever since he started playing that position, the D was on another level.

I’ll put my hands up… I wasn’t a big Coop guy going in to the draft. I was massively wrong (as usual) and very glad that I was. But I think in the NFL Coop is an inside guy where he can use his power and athleticism to make reads on the ball. I really wouldn’t want to see him on the outside but I guess if the team think he can?

If coop insists outside cb, make em happy.

Who knows what their plan is for him. Did they draft him to play inside? I kind of feel like they did whether that be slot or safety but he played outside in college so he can play there.

Ok it's been a week and the dust is starting to settle.

Given all the "3 peat" talk before the game, it was only natural to start thinking if the Eagles could win again and start their own dynasty - particularly given how dominant they were.

I've said this before on here but I'll repeat it.

Watch a lot of sports and how champions are decided is different all over.

I think from a domestic standpoint, winning a Super Bowl is the toughest ask in sport.

So many things have to line up.

It's such a hard game, injuries are always a big factor- look at Detroit.

You need a bit of luck sometimes too.

Add in the salary cap and it's another thing to juggle.

I'm not sure it can be done but this is clearly the Eagles window.

They should look to keep as many of this team as possible

If they do, given a fair shake with injuries there's no reason they can't go back.

Clearly the best team right now.

I agree with this! The cap space and also losing coordinators and coaches is a hard thing to combat.

We are the best team in the NFL and until proven otherwise that remains. But I agree that a lot has to line up. So whilst I’m very hopeful that we can repeat I also think the reality is we are in a window but that may not mean repeating it may just mean being a contender.

Bottom line I think we will be back in the next 1-3 years.
