I guess it's good because he's familiar 🤷‍♂️

Initial reaction is I don’t love it. Feels like when we promote from within it doesn’t go too well.

What's the alternative?

Pretty sure I saw a list somewhere of some candidates still out there

I was warming up to McCown even though he'd likely be gone in a year

It’s a good and fair question. I just know that:

1) It’s generally good to get fresh eyes on the offense to try and introduce new wrinkles. We know Nick isn’t a great offensive guy (he’s a culture builder and people manager).

2) The last couple of times we’ve tried to promote from within it hasn’t gone well. It isn’t to say this can’t work or won’t work I just don’t love it.

I agree that it's not ideal, but the Eagles had few alternatives at this late date.  If they do well next year, the team will be vindicated.  If not, they'll be able to pick through better prospects.  This is the price we pay for being SB champs.

Honestly I think this is what a head coach should be. A strategist too, however a great head coach is going to let his coaches coach and then hold them accountable.

I mean he and the team deserve the benefit of the doubt here... I wish him the best and hopefully we don't miss a beat

I would prefer someone from outside of the organization, but I won't knock it until I see what he does.

I wonder if this means Sirianni is planning to reinsert himself into play calling once again. Whatever happens he and Jalen need to stay on the same page. Can’t have players going rouge on the field again.

And this is kind of how I feel. My initial reaction is I don’t love it. I’m hesitant to say it’s going to work out well. But at the same time we just don’t know and we won’t know until the season gets going.

Not a fan of this, expect the Offense and Hurts to take a step back this year.

If the team has success, the tendency is to promote from within.  Things are going well and don't rock the boat.  If it is not doing well, you bring in new coaches along with new ideas to correct the problem.  Pretty general practice at the FO.

Yep, continuity is probably the best bet. And unlike the last "promote from within" OC, this guy didn't get the job because he was old buddies with Jalen. Hopefully it works out better.

Well...It sucks...I have a bad feeling that will go back to pass happy crap, but who knows...

Meh.  They promoted the Passing Game coordinator and the passing game kinda sucked at times this season. Oh well.

The truth: None of us know enough to have an opinion that matters.

Is that Kellen Moore's brother? Looks just like him.

Can't we bring Frank Reich in as a consultant, and a possible replacement if Patullo sucks?

We were in that mode earlier this year under Moore.  It wasn't until the players approached Sirianni and specifically asked to make the run game more of a focus that they shifted.  And quite honestly, with a talent like Barkley, you'd be a complete idiot to move away from the run game.  Patullo should know that (and still has Stout to coordinate the run game).

I'm now curious to see who we bring in as QB coach.

I get that guys want their shot at glory (ie HC job), but it's got to be frustrating for owners, HCs and mgt that the turnaround these days is essentially one year from coordinator to HC...

 3-14 record next year.

Saquon runs for 567 yards on the season, and Hurts averages 48 passing yards a game.
