UK Eagle Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Barf. I'm not a massive Bond fan (especially after that last film), but adaptions of legacy properties by streaming services to be a content item don't tend to work out well by the end of it. I'm sure lots of Bond geeks are having some moments of panic about what Amazon are going to do to that franchise. 1
xzmattzx Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I hope they don't go in a "bold" direction and go with someone like this: 1
NOTW Posted February 22 Posted February 22 They could go in the direction of a team like Mission Impossible. Or also side movies/shows about other 00 Agents.

UK Eagle Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I did see some comments on X about Bond over the weekend and the smarter ones said it should be a period peace from the 60s vs a reflection of modern day. It will help the stories flow better and help it gets its cheeky nods and winks back.
UK Eagle Posted February 24 Posted February 24 It does, but then it made a pigs ear out LOTR and Wheel of Time. I don't watch either or know the source material, but I know people who are utterly exasperated by what was done to them by Amazon. Terminal List was really good. Reacher series was 1 really good, 2 was ok and 3 seems decent. The Boys was good for minute until it went off the rails. Invincible has been good in patches. Can they resist the urge to deconstruct Bond or make it for a modern audience?
Alpha_TATEr Posted February 24 Posted February 24 some the complainers on the rings of power are ridiculous. the show isn't great, but it is a decent show.
UK Eagle Posted February 24 Posted February 24 My ear has bent on many things LOTOR. I usually just agree as I haven't the foggiest who most of the characters are, how old they are, etc. And I don't care either
NOTW Posted February 26 Posted February 26 The change in tone with the Daniel Craig movies was so refreshing after the ridiculous Brosnan movies. I'm not sure what new direction they could go though? Going back to the 60s with old spy tech is cool idea, but then you're just basically recycling the old movies. I don't know.
UK Eagle Posted February 27 Posted February 27 You are, but by doing that, you can ground the films in a more manual world that removes the whiz bang gadgets and makes it different to most other spy stuff out there.

True. The Fantastic Four movie is doing that. Skyfall had a stripped down feel. I suppose it could work with modern filmmaking but retro tech used in the movies and strip it down to basics. You also have to recapture the cheeky nature of the older films as well.
UK Eagle Posted February 28 Posted February 28 That is why I'm intrigued about the Fantastic Four. Its a step change from todays world, and the simplicity gives the film makers a smaller pond/world to play in. You can't have a suit of adamantium provide cop outs for writing a fight scene. Or for Bond, satellites and mobile phones allowing oversight. Bond would be independent of London and have to be more innovative.
