In fairness, it worked out for the Eagles when we traded for AJ Brown 1-year into a new staff building around a new, young QB. But Samuel is largely living off that 2021 outlier season. He may be better than Zaccheaus, but is he $14M better? Not in my book.

Brown was only 25 years old (and just entering his prime) when we acquired him (and he had an existing relationship with Hurts).  Deebo is 29 and seems to be on the other side of it.

Look do I think Washington are going to be good next year? Yes. Do I think they are going to be a bit of a problem for a few years? Yeah probably. But the national media is going too far. Talking about Washington leapfrogging us with this move? Come on! We just beat them down in the NFCCG. We beat them once in the regular season and only lost because Hurts went out (otherwise we may have blown them out again). They won a few close almost freaky games and they have a lot of FAs and aging players. Sure they have a lot of cap space… But doesn’t mean they’ll hit on all their moves again.

I expect them to take a step back. Time and time again we’ve seen a team have an unexpected great year, only to disappoint the next season. Let’s see how Daniels looks after teams have a season’s worth of film on him.

And that’s the thing right… QBs in year 2 tend to take a step back. Doesn’t mean he’ll be bad but I don’t think he’ll be as good next year.

C.J. Stroud certainly took a step back this year and I imagine Jaden Daniels will do the same in the upcoming season. Daniels will no longer be an unknown.

Exactly! Teams will have tape on him and they’ll be able to see what things they can do to limit him etc. I think every single rookie QB has taken a step back in year 2 right?! Plus I’m just not sure Washington overall will be quite as good next year.

They just traded for laremy tunsil... A 2 and 3 in 2026 and 4th this year... Seems like a lot but could be a good trade for them

Wentz went from good rookie to almost MVP in his first two years. ‘Burger and Russel Wilson won it all in year 2.

We can stop with this narrative

And technically Hurts 2nd full year was a MVP candidate

Yeah. We all hate Washington and want them to fail in hilarious fashion, but this feels like copium.

Who knows, maybe he does take a step back like Stroud, but I personally don’t see it.

I didn't see it with Stroud back then either...what happened to him?

I think it's easy for a young QB to fall for the hype about himself after a successful season. It could affect how you prepare for the next season.

Daniels had good composure for a rookie QB in the NFL, but he was older than average rookies and likely more mature coming into the NFL. But there's more to becoming a great QB than just knowing how to be loose. I prefer QBs that focus on football --- call me old-fashioned.
