March 4Mar 4 Slay has been a terrific Eagle. And he's still a very good player. The Eagles just created a weakness that will be tough to fill.
March 4Mar 4 It sucks to see him go, although they did this a couple years ago and he ended up coming back. Maybe it will be the same situation. But I can also understand not paying a guy at the end of the road when you have Ringo and maybe Rodgers if he re-signs to take over.
March 4Mar 4 It’s definitely a loss to see him go… But I think it is the right move. He’s getting up there in years and overall it’s a big cap saving with this year and next combined. And who knows he might be back? Doubtful but I wouldn’t rule it out.
March 4Mar 4 Full text: The Eagles were ready to move on from Slay in 2023. He was ready to sign with the Baltimore Ravens. "Baltimore offered way more money,” Slay said. "And I’m like, ‘I just came off the Super Bowl run. Go chase the bag.’” Then Dom DiSandro called: "Slay, we need you,” DiSandro said. "Dom, he’s one of the dudes, he calls me and he’s like, ‘I need you.’ Because he’d do it for my family’,” Slay said. "He made it right.” Slay stayed for two more seasons, won the Super Bowl. Like AJ Brown said: Big Dom keeps this team together.

March 6Mar 6 OK, so I am not going to delve into this, but can someone break down what this Slay v CJGJ beef is?

Allegedly, CJGJ possibly was offended when someone asked Slay who would be the vet leader if he moved on. Slay suggested Blankenship would fill that role just fine. I don't think any of this is as big a deal as the media wants to portray it.

I don’t think what Slay said was a big deal but CJGJ seemed to take exception to it. Now with Slay gone I’m also not sure it’s a big deal. And even if Slay comes back it doesn’t need to be a thing. But I do think these players need to just take a step back sometimes.
March 7Mar 7 I think the beef is a nothing burger. There are two kinds of leadership. Emotional "heart" and the mental side. CJGJ is emotional heart. Blankenship is the mental side. Slay was probably thinking the latter in his answer or something simple like that.

Honestly, CJGJ was what was missing in 2023. He's a playmaker that sets a tone and fires teammates up. I haven't heard of anybody really calling him a mentor --- he's a different kind of leader. Blankenship, though, is the guy responsible for communication in the defensive backfield and he already has that responsibility. I think Slay was acknowledging that. CJGJ maybe felt snubbed by Slay's response, since he's kind of the "old man" at this point in our secondary. But he has his role and Blank has his. Everything will be fine.
March 13Mar 13 10 milli for 1 yr, the Steelers got that. But what Ridgers got from Minn. 2 yr, 15 milli, they could have more than matched. Rodgers is young too.
