hoosierdaddy Posted March 5 Posted March 5 This is huge. I don’t care what else happens this offseason now. 1
Kz! Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Hefty pricetag. Think I read something that speculated a 3 year/$36 million deal. Either way, well deserved after this season, and we couldn't afford to lose him. 1 1
jsdarkstar Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Keeping the most dominant offensive line in the NFL intact should now be a top priority. If Howie can do it. Bechton needs to be signed. As for Myles Garrett that's just pure fantasy. 1
Talonblood Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I'm glad they didn't wait or drag it out. Way to do business, Howie. 1
eglz1 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I guess Howie has learned the value of a good linebacker. Better late than never. 1
brkmsn Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I'm just posting this because I was going to say the same thing, but also add: "Howie doesn't use high draft picks on DBs." 7 1
MrFadedGlory Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Fuuuuuuu Damn I called 4/50 months ago. 3/50 is reeeediculous
BayAreaLennie Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Baun was definitely the priority of the free agents ... his presence in the lineup just seemed to be the key to unlocking potential all over the defense. It's a bit more money than I was hoping he would sign for, but $17M a year for three years is not going to break the bank regardless. (By contrast, I have seen contract projections upwards of $25M a year for four years for Milton Williams; I like Milton, but that is a lot to commit to a guy who has been very good but not a world-beater.)

Howie should have made him that 4/50 offer in October.

Milton Williams did have a Sack, Strip, Fumble of Mahomes in the SB. Just sayin. I agree the money is probably too much.
hoosierdaddy Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Who’s the last LB we had who had the amount of impact on games that Baun had last year? I’m thinking early 2000s Trotter, before he left for Washington. Before that? Seth Joyner.

Howie has certainly adjusted his thinking in recent years. At about $17 million per year, it's not insane, as the LB franchise tag is about $25 million. Now all Baun has to do is continue to play like the best in the league, even though none of us had ever heard of him before the Eagles signed him.
