Howie said to be patient throughout free agency all the way up to training camp, because he has a master plan. I hope he is right.

Agreed and he does deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Was really calm up to this point but now with Sweat, Williams, Slay and CJGJ gone there are a lot of unknowns for the defense. At least it is in good hands with Fangio. Hope for the best.

Howie got bent over.

Absolute horrible trade

What never is mentioned is the Eagles have spent more future cap dollars than any other team and by a wide margin. We have spent more than a full season’s cap money. We now are limited in our spending. It tells me that we are defense with our top picks other than making taking a TE. We help everywhere on D. First two picks are going to be DE and CB.

People thinking green is the reason for this trade because it says he is a former first rounder…  this doesn’t make him a stater.. first of all he has been a LG.. he is someone they think they can work with and maybe start or get a comp pick out of in the future.

they trade is basically moving up from the 6th to 5th round next year for Cj and saving cap money! Anything from green is icing on the cake.

Also tells me they aren’t draft OG high. I thought maybe 3rd round RG but not now. Maybe a developmental swing OT in the 5th and we need a back up center but a pure RG is now off the board

Because the Eagles did so well on defense after CJ was ejected from that Commanders game (i'm referencing this game because it's a good before and after example).   The guy makes a big difference, and now he's gone.  If they don't have an equally effective or better player already lined up to replace him with then this was a brain dead stupid move.

Lurie wants to become the Yankees of the NFL and players like CJGJ need to learn to keep their yaps shut.

this social media and podcast sheet does not make Jeff a happy man.

cj gone

slay gone

AJ potentially traded???

Act like Barkley or don’t let the door hit you in the arse

Jimmy Johnson said it years ago, a team full of choir boys don’t win championships. I hope you are wrong.

We are obviously very tight to the cap with the extensions they plan to give. No doubt they need his money to pay core guys

I'm waiting for the CJGJ eagles diss, lol.   I don't like this one at all.  Our defense next season is going to look so different and has lost a lot of its heart/leadership.   Brown isn't dependable, and we're going to eventually feel this loss at some point next year.

Sigh

Maybe they are thinking that with Q and Coop, that they'll be ok without CJ? Just plug in another Safety?? Odd move.

A big part of this trade is giving former third-round pick Sydney Brown a chance to compete for a starting spot next to Reed Blankenship in the Eagles’ defense. Brown was a third-round pick out of Illinois in 2023 but hasn’t yet carved out a significant role on defense. He showed some promise as a rookie but tore his ACL in the regular season finale and missed the start of 2024 before bing buried on the depth chart.

In addition to Brown, the Eagles also still have Tristin McCollum and Lewis Cine on the roster. There are also several months before the opener, so it’s possible the Eagles could add another safety.

And Blankenship, 26, is entering the final year of his contract. So an extension could be coming for the now-veteran starter.

Green, 23, was the No. 15 overall pick out of Texas A&M back in the 2022 draft but his NFL career hasn’t gone to plan. After starting 14 games as a rookie, with plenty of struggles, Green missed the entire 2023 season with a shoulder injury.

In 2024, Green was benched in October. He ended up playing in 12 games with 9 starts. Last season, ProFootballFocus ranked him as the No. 76 best guard in the NFL out of 77 qualified players. Green gave up 47 pressures and 4 sacks last season. He appears to be another reclamation for highly regarded offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland.

Green has played only left guard in the NFL and the Eagles have Pro Bowler Landon Dickerson at that spot. So perhaps we see him get some time at right guard, where there’s an opening. The Eagles’ 2024 starter, Mekhi Becton, is a free agent. The Eagles also have 2023 third-round pick Tyler Steen on the roster.

I'm struggling to understand this.  CGJ is an outstanding safety, and you trade him for an offensive lineman who couldn't keep his starting job?

Man, Stout must _really_ see something in this guy, because now we have a big hole at safety.

Wait .. hold on.

There's more to this one.  What if Howie needed to clear up some cap room?  Someone is going to get extended, or someone is going to get signed soon.  Stay tuned.

First move I really don't like. CJGJs ability to get into their head is super underrated.

I think this move signifies that very few on this roster are considered untouchable and Howie is trying to improve the cap situation for the Eagles.

Now. But how will they address it? What if they have a top draft pick come in and start day 1 like Q did? You never know.

Kind of impossible not to because we had one of the best defenses of the decade. We certainly weren't gonna get better?

Howie has more than earned some leeway, but if we're being honest it's hard to like this trade.

I like Brown but so far in limited snaps he's been unreliable.

This is terrible.  Green is awful.  Steen is better.  So, they traded a standout safety for a backup guard.  It could be that Gardner-Johnson is just a jerk, and they don't want him on the team...but that is just a guess...I have no idea if that's true.

Is CJ a complete pain in the butt to coach/be in a locker room with? No one wants him around very long.

They trade for him. He plays well. Let him walk over pennies. Get him back on a good deal. Has a good season, wins sb. Traded him.. baffled by this one

What makes it worse is we traded him for a guy that probably wouldve ended up being cut, eventually.

What the F is going on. About Green

Green struggled during the 2024 campaign before Houston benched him near the end of October

hopefully Stoutland can fix him

I don’t know where this black outline came from. I don’t see how they’re going to replace five starters or so unless they see tons of talent in the fifth round.
And I hope Sydney Brown doesn’t have to cover worthy

Earl Thomas to come out of retirement so taters from 2010 can be happy 🙂

Think  it is sort of funny that the Eagles received literally the two worst players in football at their respective positions.  Thompson-Robinson and Green.

Hopefully they are just camp bodies, for now. And hopefully Howie works his magic and brings in legitimately good NFL players.

We shall see.
