Posted April 15Apr 15 With the draft just 10 days away, here's my Mock Draft 3.0 (no trades):Rnd 1 (32) Nic Scourton DE Texas A&M - Even though the Eagles brought in two promising free agents in Joshua Uche and Azeez Ojulari to replace Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat, the team would be lucky if either pan out to be more than situational pass rushers this season. Scourton was one of the Eagles top 30 visits, and fits the size profile the team likes in their EDGE rushers.Rnd 2 (64) Tyleik Williams DT Ohio State - After the departure of Milton Williams in free agency, the Eagles did not sign any notable interior DL, which leads me to believe they will use an early pick on one in the draft, possibly even the first round. With Nic Scourton going in the 1st round, the Eagles take Williams here (another top 30 visit) who could start on this DL as a rookie.Rnd 3 (96) Jaylen Reed S Penn State - While the Eagles are hopeful that Sydney Brown steps into a starting role after the trade of C.J. Gardner Johnson to the Texans, it is still a big ask for the player who missed a large portion of the 2024 season due to an ACL injury. Jaylen Reed can push Brown for the starting position across from Reed BlankenshipRnd 4 (134) Dylan Fairchild OG Georgia - While the battle for the starting RG position is presumably going be between Tyler Steen and Kenyon Green, there is still a need for depth on the IOL. While Howie has been stockpiling Georgia Bulldogs for the defense, he opts for an OL here in the middle rounds.Rnd 5 (161) Chase Lundt OT Connecticut - The Eagles get more depth on the OL but this time at the tackle position. Lundt has 4 years of starting experience at RT during his time at UConnRnd 5 (164) Chimere Dike WR Florida - Howie finally gets his Florida Gator. Dike is a late round dart throw in this juncture of the draft with the hope that he can translate his deep speed into a role as a field-stretcher in wide sets, he has the physical tools but needs to work on cutting down on drops, hence being available this late in the draft.Rnd 5 (165) Shemar James LB Florida - The Eagles prioritized bringing back Zach Baun in free agency, which was the right move. However, with Nakobe Dean coming off a major injury and Oren Burks gone in free agency, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is the other only notable healthy LB on the roster. James adds depth to what is now a fairly thin LB position.Rnd 5 (168) Damien Martinez RB Miami - Although the Eagles signed A.J. Dillon to be the RB2 behind Saquon Barkley, he is coming off a serious neck injury that cause him to miss the entire past season. Martinez is a bigger back that can help get those tough yards on short yardage situations.

Williams has great athleticism for his size at 6'3 and 334 lbs and is already great against the run, but of course the key projection is how well he can continue to develop as a pass rusher. He definitely needs to build up more than a bull rush in his arsenal of pass rush moves but this is something that can be taught with coaching.

What are you doing to backfill the production we lost when 93 left? We end up with redundant NT skills/abilities for two seasons and a hole in our inside pass rushing skills/abilities? I don’t follow that logic.

I like Tyleik because I do believe he can help us fill the production lost by Milton Williams, although I agree it's a bit of a projection. I wouldn't consider him strictly as a NT prospect. I would bring in Tyleik as someone to start alongside Davis and Carter, not as a primary backup/replacement for Davis.https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/tyleik-williams?position=DLFrom a measureables standpoint, Tyleik is actually closer to Carter. l presume you favor other prospect(s) in that range for IDL?

However, what is the difference between Milton’s fourth year (when his production jumped) and Davis’ fourth year? You appear to believe Davis isn’t as good or promising a player as Davis. Why is that?My personal opinion, for whatever that is worth, is that the cost of Davis’ fifth year should be compared to the cost of Milton’s fifth year, and/or Osa Odighizuwa, Johnathan Allen, Tershawn Watson, even Jevon Hargrave. Davis’ fifth year cost is a bargain.

He’s putting up Casey Hampton type numbers and getting better each year. He was never going to be a pass rusher and that’s not what’s expected of a NT. He’s not Vince Wilfork but he’s close to Casey Hampton.

Davis’ fifth year cost is a bargain. Not at all..I wouldn't have a problem with resigning Davis and he has grown as a player as he should but Howie stated it himself by pointing out the rise of salaries in some positions that aren't going to allow teams the luxury it once did.I think they will prepare to move on from Davis knowing that Carter is the most important. Being Davis is rotational and doesn't play nearly as much as JC because of his size, Howie will look to replace him with a younger less expensive version.Tyliek Williams has the size in weight close to Davis but we will see. I like Alexender just as much. Not hating on Davis but unless Howie can figure out how to pay him and maintain the $$ structure with the team as a whole I feel this will be his lastyear with us.
April 21Apr 21 Author Thanks for the feedback guys. I totally understand why Tyleik Williams is a polarizing prospect given how much of his upside is a projection given his measurables. Can certainly see the Eagles opt for a DT in round 1 instead and try for EDGE later in the draft. Also turns out today in addition to being Easter Sunday and 4/20 for those who celebrate, it's my 5 year anniversary of joining the new EMB after the Eagles shut down the original EMB and tried pushing us to use Reddit during the pandemic. Glad to see our community is still going strong!
