A 1st round LB, incredible!

First time in 46 years (1979).

Traded a 5th rounder (#164) to get their guy.

Fangio influence for sure. LFG

Good value as always. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles want to use him. He could use some time to develop some more, but we may have an immediate opening off-ball if Dean can't start the season. If Dean can return at some point, Vic might like to use Campbell more at OLB. I'm guessing we may now move BVS permanently to FB.

Rapoport said we tried to move up into the early 20s to draft him. Unless I misunderstood.

no you did not, apparently there was almost a trade in place with San Diego at 22, I would hate to see what we would have had to give up to move up that far, when we ended up getting him at 31.

Yea, was looking to see if I misheard....

"The Eagles were trying to trade up to the No. 22 pick when the Los Angeles Chargers were on the clock to select Campbell, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. But no deal was made. The Eagles eventually moved up one spot with the Kansas City Chiefs, who they beat in Super Bowl LIX."

Incredible luck and patience by Howie.

A linebacker? Vermeil would approve.

He's from Camden...he'll feel right at home.

Howie tried to move up to the Chargers, etc. pick to get him.

Sounds like good value.

Did they really need to trade up 1 spot to get him? I have to imagine the Chiefs were going to take him they wouldn't have traded the pick and if another team wanted him surely they could have offered better than what we did... It's only a 5th but it didn't seem necessary

I like that he brought some energy when he was picked. I like that he's a fan of the birds. I like that he had 117 tackles last year. I like that he turned 21 two month ago.

They have 20 draft picks between this draft and next year. It's a 5th rder. F it. Go up and get your guy

Howie must have feared other teams saw the same thing the Eagles did and jumped up...similar to Carter and DeJean

I get that im not complaining it just didn't make much sense... Could have had him at 32 and used that 5th to move up in another round 🤷

I'm sure Howie will trade a few more times before the weekend is over. Goedert will fetch a pick

I agree but like I said if other teams felt that strongly about him they could have given more than pick 164

Jihaad said he went to IMG Academy, then to Alabama, and now "another Alabama”

He'll get plenty more opportunities this autumn.

Some teams thought the same and Roseman made them look stupid. Smith, Goedert..

Maybe he doesn't want this to happen to him.

I guess the only thing that makes sense to me is Howie reached out to veach and asked if they had offers from other teams and beat their offer but I also think veach could have reached back out to the other teams to beat Howie's offer 🤷 I don't dislike the trade it just seems like we could have had him at 32... I think KC was going oline at 31 no matter what... KC got a free 5th rounder from us

That would mean Roseman is an idiot.

He's not. He's very well connected.

If this was the Giants, maybe. But us? There was a good reason to do this.

The point was to prevent someone from jumping the eagles to snag him. Same as JC

It's a good thing that No one is picking up Howie Phone!!!!! Anymore.

We wasted a 5th rounder, because KC was always going to get a Tackle. KC been trying to fix that tackle position for a while.

Hearing the reports that Howie was trying to trade with multiple teams, starting with Chargers at 24, to get this guy.....

It's a great thing for the Eagles, that No one was trading with Howie.

Kind of, everyone saved Howie from being Howie the trader, and we still got a great pick that we needed and a Great Value at 31, without loosing more draft capital.

Overall its a solid A+ draft value.
