Did they really need to trade up 1 spot to get him? I have to imagine the Chiefs were going to take him they wouldn't have traded the pick and if another team wanted him surely they could have offered better than what we did... It's only a 5th but it didn't seem necessary

If another team would have moved up there, KC would have had to move further back for their next pick, so of course the additional pick would have had to be better. But then KC may not have been able to get their guy. So it was one of those trades where both teams get a win.

It's a good thing that No one is picking up Howie Phone!!!!! Anymore.

We wasted a 5th rounder, because KC was always going to get a Tackle. KC been trying to fix that tackle position for a while.

Hearing the reports that Howie was trying to trade with multiple teams, starting with Chargers at 24, to get this guy.....

It's a great thing for the Eagles, that No one was trading with Howie.

Kind of, everyone saved Howie from being Howie the trader, and we still got a great pick that we needed and a Great Value at 31, without loosing more draft capital.

Overall its a solid A+ draft value.

Or Howie just couldn't live with himself if someone beat him to the punch. Could it be that AR smelled blood in the water and "snookered" him? If he really had balls, he would have demanded a7th rounder in return.

I told my brother we traded up with KC..his immediate response was "I figured they'd have our number blocked after that a$$ beating two months ago". 😂😂😂

Welcome to Philly Jihaad!!!

He'll end up playing edge and he will dominate!

I get that im not complaining it just didn't make much sense... Could have had him at 32 and used that 5th to move up in another round 🤷

They were concerned KC would take him. Or maybe Howie was concerned KC would trade the pick to another team that would take him. Either way, it’s not as crazy as it seems.

Love the local guy pick.

I guess the only thing that makes sense to me is Howie reached out to veach and asked if they had offers from other teams and beat their offer but I also think veach could have reached back out to the other teams to beat Howie's offer 🤷 I don't dislike the trade it just seems like we could have had him at 32... I think KC was going oline at 31 no matter what... KC got a free 5th rounder from us

We should have gotten a 6th in return.

People complaining about giving up a 5th... KC was taking bpa and KC knew this was a huge value pick so they capitalized. Also Howie tried to jump up in the early 20s. I can only imagine how much that would have cost.

Timber Creek...he joins Damiere Byrd, Devin Leary, Tarheeb Still and Deion Jennings

Not one of us would have been happy, if, before the Super Bowl, we were told that the Eagles would be drafting at no. 31 overall, while the Chiefs would be drafting at no. 32 overall.

I’m honestly surprised by Dart there. Didn’t get thrown backwards and was ready to go after.

Entire division drafted well. And deions kid is free falling. Amazing draft

Love the pick, assuming his shoulder injury/surgery heals 100% and he can contribute this year (which is the expectation). Certainly didn't see this coming, though. Howie continues to surprise by how he's evolving and moving away from some past stubbornness...paying a RB and LB big money, now drafting a LB in Round 1, etc.

I liked the way Campbell spoke and acted during the post-selection interview. He seemed genuinely excited and his talent should make him a long term player in Philly.

I don't follow college football so know nothing. Do we like this pick? Does this mean we might see a little more 4-3 defense on likely rush downs, or is he more like a get after the QB type OLB?

Don't know much about the pick. Good I guess?

So f'ing tired of NFC east teams always taking the top Penn State players..

Holy smokes I love this pick!!

Quite possible that KC had a couple of teams that wanted to jump up there to grab Jihaad, they absolutely knew Howie was going to take him if he fell to Philly. So, we gave up a 5th to get our guy. I have no problem with that.

I'm curious what we do with this guy. He's 6'3" 235 and runs a 4.5 40? Wow, that's a big, fast, dude. Linebacker? Edge? Both?

You guys hit the jackpot here. I'm sure most of you won't remember, but I said when Dean was drafted, he was going to be a huge for you and he has been even after a slow start.

I am a college football fan much more than a NFL fan and let me tell you, you will absolutely love Jihaad. Being a Bama fan, I watched him play in every game, went to all the home games and a few away games. Watching him play in person was even more impressive than watching him on TV.

He was everywhere on the field! He was either sacking the QB, tackling players for a loss, or in coverage breaking up passes or getting an INT. He has some legit dog in him, he is a killer. One of my favorite aspects about him is that he when he tackles, he hits the player and he is stopped cold, he wraps up and finishes the tackle.

I have attached a highlight reel that really shows how he tackles, his speed, and how he is just all over the field. Enjoy! Roll Tide.

I think in their eyes, the value of ensuring you get your guy as opposed to the risk of someone else trading with KC, was worth one of their 5th rounders. I think it’s hard to disagree. We also traded up one spot to get Carter two years ago and at this point, I can’t even recall what we gave Chicago to do so. I’d say both were worth it.

Seems like they end up here to win a SB, so we can wait 4 years to capitalize 🤣

It's pretty wild that in just a few short seasons we've gone from a team that historically neglects the LB position usually sifting through cuts from other teams to fill out the position, to having probably the best group in the entire league. Baun - Dean - Campbell have the potential to be the best trio we've ever had. Crazy.

I like Trotter Jr too. It's going to be weird with such a strong LB room and top corners.

I'll get used to it real fast though. 😁

He seemed more mature than a lot of the other picks. I like that my team's first round pick didn't come to the draft wearing some pink outfit or some suit that looks like it was bought at a party store. He came off like a grown man with both of his feet on the ground which in today's world, says a lot.
