Posted May 12May 12 The 2025 schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 14th. There will be leaks ahead of that official release ... we'll track them here.
May 12May 12 Author First rumor to surface (not sure how reliable the source is but take it for what it is worth).

May 12May 12 It's true, Eagles vs Cowgirls Week 1. Somewhat surprising...I thought it would have been Washington in a rematch of the NFCCG.Go Birds!
May 12May 12 If the NFC East was in the play for Week 1, then I’m really surprised it wasn’t WAS. I suppose they’re saving them for a primetime game in DC.

I thought for months the Commanders were a lock because the NFL I'm sure wanted to showcase Jayden Daniels off his rookie campaign. This suggests the NFL probably doesn't want to risk the Cowboys having another bad start. I figured they would save this one for either the Thursday after Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.I wonder if the work-arounds the NFL annually has to do with stadium concerts that were already scheduled (not necessarily any at The Linc or CBP) played into why the Cowboys are opening against the Eagles.
May 12May 12 Contenders then for the Eagles 3 SNF games would be: Lions, Rams, Redskins, @Redskins, @Chiefs and @Bills.
May 12May 12 I still don't understand why the league chooses the matchups for the opening game. Game 1 is always going to draw huge ratings because people have been without meaningful football for 7+ months and everyone is excited coming off their fantasy draft. Whatever the lowest-expected ratings are for the Super Bowl Champs Home opponents (likely Raiders) should be picked for that game. Everyone is tuning in to game 1, whereas Raiders-Eagles will be buried in the middle of the season in a week where Cowboys-Eagles will still get a ton of national attention.

Could it be they put the Cowboys against the Eagles because they plan to have either Chiefs-Cowboys or Chargers-Cowboys as the Week 2 Thursday nighter on Amazon Prime since the Cowboys would be playing on normal rest and the Chiefs or Chargers the same as coming off a Monday nighter in such a matchup? That I could see with whoever is playing the Cowboys flying straight to Dallas and practicing for that game in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex ahead of it.
May 12May 12 My buddy is a Dallas fan I told him it was really nice of the league to start us off with a layup

Fangio did well against Prescott in 2023.

Trump has a LONG vendetta against the NFL dating back to 1981 when he along with legendary head coach George Allen attempted to buy the then-Baltimore Colts from the Irsay family for a then-record $50 Million but was rebuffed doing that in retaliation for that and other "wrongs" the NFL did against him over a now-almost 45-year period (Trump tried again with trying to buy the Cowboys in 1983 for the same $50 Million which again would have been the record to that point but was rebuffed, then buying the USFL's New Jersey General in 1984 for $10 Million and using that to try to force a merger in 1986 with the NFL that the USFL actually "won" but was only awarded $1, tripled to $3 in damages).

This is a joke to give Dallas an unearned Primetime slot..

This is a joke to give Dallas an unearned Primetime slot..I suspect the Cowboys are the opener because it looks like the Cowboys are going to host the Week 2 Thursday night against either the Chargers or Chiefs (Chiefs are rumored to be the Chargers opponent in the Brazil game on Friday 9/5). Doing so allows the NFL to have the Cowboys play up to four Thursday night games since they can then play two Thursday nighters on short rest and the week-after-Thanksgiving Thursday game on normal rest.
May 14May 14 So many primetime games this year...one of the annoyances of being a good team and of course, SB champs. I'll gladly deal with it! The best one is the Saturday night game. But man, I'm still a Sunday guy. Give me the Sunday 1pm time slots. But it seems more and more every year that the Sunday 1pm time slots are for the loser teams, LOL
