Commanders two of the last three weeks?

Updated schedule so far:

Week 1 — Thurs, Sep 4 vs. Cowboys (8:20 p.m. on NBC10/Peacock)
Week 2 — Sun, Sept. 14 at Chiefs (4:25 p.m.)
Week 3 —
Week 4 —
Week 5 —
Week 6 — Thurs, Oct. 9 at Giants (8:15 p.m. on Prime Video)
Week 7 —
Week 8 — Sun, Oct 26 vs Giants
Week 9 —
Week 10 — Mon, Nov. 10 at Packers (8:15 p.m. on ESPN)
Week 11 — Sun, Nov 16 vs Lions
Week 12 —
Week 13 — Fri, Nov. 28 vs. Bears (3 p.m. on Prime Video)
Week 14 — Mon, Dec 8 at Chargers (8:15 p.m. on ESPN)
Week 15 — Sun, Dec 14 vs Raiders
Week 16 — Sat, Dec. 20 at Commanders (on FOX)
Week 17 — Sun, Dec 28 at Bills
Week 18 — date TBD vs Commanders

This explains likely why the Commanders were not scheduled for the opener. They wanted a game that could be for the NFC East that could be slotted as the final game of the regular season in Week 18 on Sunday Night Football. I suspect they also did that in case President Trump did an Executive Order that would block the NFL from having games on December 20, when three first-round games in the College Football Playoff take place (the other Friday 12/19) with those games moved to Sunday 12/21. I can see Trump actually going there because of his almost 45 year vendetta against the NFL that goes back to 1981 when he attempted the buy the then-Baltimore Colts with George Allen for a then-record $50 Million that was rebuffed by the Irsay family. Trump I can see doing that and bragging how he "prevented the NFL from ruining the College Football Playoff" by not allowing them to play that day, effectively expanding the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 that bans the NFL from televising NFL games nationally from the 6:00 AM Friday-11:59 PM Saturday on the second Friday in September through the second Friday in December to add the College Football Playoff to that.

f'ing TB again when it’ll be 100 degrees out! Was hoping they’d slot in on one of the Nov dates that were still open.

I got so sunburnt in that game last year... but this year our company's biggest event (hosted every other year) will be on the West Coast of Florida that same weekend... with my boss already asking me to attend that is normally that Friday/Saturday portion... so there could be a strong chance of me driving up for the game flex

That may have been the original plan (and what I thought was going to happen), but I wonder if the NFL is front-loading the Cowboys in prime time in case for when they fall into the ditch again.

I guess they want a Prescott-Hurts game and figured they better schedule one before Dak goes on I.R. again.

Why in the f are they scheduled divisional games just weeks apart

Yeah get them over with quickly. The game doesn’t have the pop that I think it should though, but I get it. The Eagles tend to start slowly and the Cowboys will want to come out firing for their new coach and against the champs. The Cowboys will likely run the preseason like regular season while the Eagles likely won’t play one preseason snap with the starters. I think this is a bad spot game for the Eagles. Really the front of the schedule kind of sucks for the Eagles. A team that generally starts the season off slow has a front loaded schedule with three teams with a grudge against the Eagles and the fourth team is one of the few teams who actually beat them last season.

-Getting six 1 pm Sunday games is nice.

-A week 9 bye right in the middle of the season is great.

-GB on a Monday night and Detroit on a Sunday night is BS.

-No back to back homes games is BS.

-Washington two out of the last three games is just stupid.

Only 1 in the second half of the season though.

I think it’s a tough schedule. I think we all knew it was going to be given the opponents and the way the schedule has been put together I think makes it even harder.

Obviously a lot can, and will, change but there’s no clear "get right” period if they need it.

I am not scared of any game...except the one in Tampa...that one I have as Loss...again in September when there is 40+ degrees and again during our pre-season

This is a pretty brutal schedule, I can totally see us and washington being neck and neck all year, which is why our 2 division games are at the end.

They are clearly trying to trip us up with this schedule but I'm not concerned. LOL @ KC in week 2, trying to clean up the Super Bowl? Nope. We Won there in 2023, we can do it again. 14 Wins again. 13 at the very worst. Also Week 9 Bye week right in the middle is exactly what this team needs. Let's go.

I suspect the schedule is as such because the Eagles either are playing a standalone game, the main late game or the main early/singleheader game with maybe 1-2 exceptions,.

Just another reminder that intelligent people have always known trump is a idiot and would have been a terrible owner.

Yep. Trump tried to in 1983 buy the Cowboys for the same $50 Million (which would again have been the record at the time) but again was rebuffed. He then bought the USFL's New Jersey Generals for $10 Million in 1984 and used that to try to force a merger with the NFL. The USFL actually WON that suit in 1986 but was only awarded $1 (tripled to $3) in damages.

Well this is somewhat strange ... from the official NFL site, check out the week 16 schedule:

The Eagles will be the first reigning Super Bowl champions to play consecutive games (weeks 2-4) against each of the 3 teams to most recently win the Super Bowl before them (Chiefs in 2022/23 seasons, Rams in 2021 season, Buccaneers in 2020 season).

The NFL for now has stated those games would be on Saturday, Dec. 20 with times to be determined later. As I have said, however, I would not be surprised if President Trump issues an Executive Order barring the NFL from having games the Friday and Saturday of the first round of the College Football Playoff that is Dec. 19-20 (one game Friday night and three on Saturday). As noted, Trump has an almost 45 year vendetta against the NFL dating back to 1981 and I can see Trump doing this for spite and also to inflate his ego by being able to say, "I blocked the NFL from going opposite the College Football Playoff." If that happened, I suspect FOX would get a makeup doubleheader on Friday 12/26, likely if so with games at 5:30 and 9:00 PM to account for those who have to work that Friday, the day after Christmas (and Eagles-Bills likely one of the games moved to that Friday spot).

I would not be surprised if that last one against the Bills winds up being on four days rest due to President Trump:

And as said, if Trump did that the NFL likely has to give FOX a makeup doubleheader Friday 12/26 with games at 5:30 and 9:00 PM ET with Eagles-Bills one of the two games moved to a new Friday doubleheader.
