Eagles' Doug Pederson cancelled meetings, addressed team amid Jacob Blake sports strikes

The Eagles are practicing on Thursday after a night of discussions about social justice issues.

Doug Pederson on Wednesday evening opened the team meeting with those discussions, opened the floor to others, and then canceled the rest of the team’s meetings to continue the discussions.

Several NFL teams have canceled practice on Thursday, but the Eagles are already beginning to take the field as of 10:20 A.M.:

On Wednesday afternoon, the Milwaukee Bucks decided to boycott their playoff game in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. That was followed by a wave of postponements across pro sports in the United States.

The NBA canceled its entire slate of games Wednesday and then the WNBA, MLB and MLS followed with postponements of their own.

The Eagles are expected to continue their dialogue on Thursday and then into Friday. Rodney McLeod said the team was already scheduled to have a Social Justice Committee meeting on Friday. It sounds like that meeting will be moved up.

Thursday is the last day of practice this week for the Eagles before an off day Friday.
