I Don’t Care About Sports Anymore

Thanks to covid?  Mr Di dying?  Done

I’ve watched 2 periods of hockey since regular football.  I’m sorry. I can’t do it. I’m not paying attention (like I did anyway)

I don’t care.

I was on the Parkway once. That I will never forget!   That was a great day!

I will understand if I must be banned.

I don't care about any sport not named pro football anymore and I'm starting to slip there. Part of that comes with age I think. But you have also suffered a great loss so it's understandable that your priorities are a little different at the moment. You won't be banned, in fact this is the place to come to to talk about non football stuff. That said hang in there, while I doubt time will heal this completely, it will help. No one knows what tomorrow will bring (well no one here on earth anyways). But I do know that life is full of peaks and valleys.

I am so sorry for your loss sister.

Completely understandable regarding the sports.  I am really only interested (like Greend) in the NFL and some college sports (hoop and FB) - but the other pro teams - meh...

Breathe in, breathe out. Don't give yourself a hard time - things are hard enough as it is.

This too shall pass.

I can't imagine how tough this year has been for you - truly awful.

Personally, today's athletes and the way the media covers sports in general makes it very unappealing at times.

I am sorry for your loss. Do whatever gives you comfort, and do so in your time, and your way.

I used to watch every Flyers playoff game.  I haven't watched one minute this year.

I too am losing interest in sports.  Too much money to go to a game anymore.

I've been watching a lot less sports for the past few years.  Part of it is that my job requires me to work evenings and weekends, when games are on.  Part of it is having other interests, like watching documentaries and educational things.  Part of it is the pandemic, when we had to go without sports for over three months.  And part of it is the politicization of sports, even if I agree with the politics.

Totally.  I remember a time when we heard nothing from or about players other than their stats.  Now politics is intertwined with our sports and it’s a turn off.

I blame McNabb

Would you rather them hide their true feelings?  I think that’s kinda lame too.  They’re human beings.

Banned for not being interested in sports? No. If this board can help serve as a distraction from life, then let it help. You don't have to talk sports. There's the Entertainment forum, there's WU, there's even CVON, if politics and the news of the day are things that you like.

Yes, while they are at work. Kinda like what the rest of us in America have to do everyday.

If I didn't I wouldn't have very many customers.

You're the exception.  I can't imagine there's a huge line around the block to replace the spunk mopper at the adult store.

If you're trying to tell us you're the d-bag at work that no one likes, we already knew that.

Well, seems our teams are making things a bit more interesting.

I was out with friends last night, but what I saw of the Phils and Flyers-----YES!!!!

Way to get me back in the game!

Yeah its totally lame.  I love that i can go into work and make stands for the things that bother me.   My employeer totally appreciates it.

seriously though.  Muhammad Ali stood against the Vietnam war. It was a worthy cause especially for young black men in a time where they were still fighting for equality but being asked to go 1/2 way across the world to die. He paid a pretty heavy price for his stance too. Are the likes of Lebron willing to make any personal sacrifices whatsoever?

I would have supported Ali’s protest.  But the blm cause is bogus because they arent condemning The black on black killings that plague our cities only the rare cases of cop on black killings.  They dont like police and i grt that but the police are a vital part of our communities.  And athletes should know that better than anyone   W/o police we wouldnt have sports period.  Imagine going to an NFL game with no police presence?  Total anarchy. And these athletes... they may not need the police because they pay money we couldn't ever afford for private security when in public So there’s that hypocrisy too

Yeah, except they’re professional athletes.  A little different from the 9-5 grind.

A job is a job in the sense that not a single business owner wants their employees personal feelings brought to work.  And they certainly dont want their company being used as their employees loudspeaker.

come to work, do your job, go home and if you feel the need to protest do it on your time and dime.  Shoot many average joes are getting blackballed and/or fired just for things they say on their social media alone

People get fired for doing and saying racist things (or other inappropriate behavior).  If you’re actually capable of acting like a normal person on the internet then you’re fine.
