I figured so, I know that black powder type firearms don't.

Correct

I live in the Great State of New Jersey, Purgatory for a Firearms owner. Every handgun purchase requires a separate, individual permit issued by the local Chief of Police after (yet another) LEO background check. As background checks are currently on hold due to "understaffing" thanks to the Rona, handgun purchases are effectively denied as a matter of course.

Firearms ID cards, required for the permit applications, are also on hold for the same reason, so prospective first time handgun owners are being  denied their Second Amm. rights. Also, too bad if you already have a Firearms ID card but just had a change of address. Your new address won't fly on the paperwork and to update your current ID card requires a completely new background check (again), which aren't happening anyway.

Governor Murphy, staunch anti gun bozo, has succeeded in getting his agenda fulfilled and denying the legally entitled citizen from firearms purchases. This ID is also required for ammo purchases by the way.

If you aren't currently armed and ammo-ed, you won't be anytime soon in New Jersey.

Lovely state of affairs.

Fortunately I'm well ahead of the curve on this one.

shutting down the background checks during rona is dumb.  the rest sounds like the usual paperwork process & should be nbd under normal circumstances, imo.

If your ID card is in good standing you can buy anything but a handgun so I guess that is nbd to some under, as you say, " normal circumstances". The process remains too vulnerable to the whims of one guy though, a Governor, sure, but still one guy who can suspend the rights of an entire block of the voting public.

Not good.

yeah, it doesn't seem right that the gov could use that as a way to stop firearm sales for newbies.  is it being challenged?

Not in the courts yet as far as I know, chalked up to a shortage of manpower because the peeps that run the checks have been ordered to stay home for so long. Desired results for the Gov achieved by blaming it on the current climate, and he's happy to let this linger indefinitely. When this situation does resolve, I'm sure they'll drag their feet again citing a massive backlog or some such, again delaying purchasing and getting desired results without actually writing new law.

Any thoughts on a pellet gun to deter some nuisance birds?

Gotta be careful. In many localities, a pellet gun is still seen as a firearm. And its illegal to discharge a firearm even in your own yard in an urban/suburban setting.

And if you live on a farm, go big and use a 12gauge. Or at least a 20

Definitely. If I read right, this was a supposed drug bust but at the wrong address? Whoever got the address wrong, should probably be under investigation for some kind of charges. I don't know what laws might cover that, but that kind of mistake can't go unpunished.

What I read was that a targeted dug dealer was picking up packages that he had delivered to their house. Thats why they raided it.

No knock raids though shouldn't be a thing.

I’m in FL (Brevard Co.)

I was looking for one that’s untouched, but I’m not opposed to a gently used model. (Hell, even my wife was married once before.)

Either it'll get canceled or they'll release the version that has the guns. I bet they created it with guns and then someone said they should do it without

i didn't realize they were still making new episodes of looney tunes. huh.

I think it's a reboot

I wonder how many old Looney Tunes shorts didn't have guns in them?
