Eagles 2020 cuts tracker: Eagles waive 12 players on Thursday

The

Eagles must trim their 80-man roster down to 53 players by the 4 p.m. deadline on Saturday.

Once the Eagles have their 53-man roster in place, they’ll have a little over a week to prepare for the season opener in Washington on Sept. 13. The Eagles announced 12 cuts on Thursday afternoon, following several reports.

The Eagles also officially put Andre Dillard on IR. He's out for the season.

That means the Eagles are at 67 players and have 14 more moves to get to the 53-man limit.

We’ll be tracking all their cuts here:

WR Deontay Burnett

Burnett had a tremendous training camp but that still didn’t help him make the roster. The Eagles would like to get him on their practice squad if he clears waivers, according to a source. Burnett joined the team last December and had a 41-yard catch in the preseason finale.

RB Elijah Holyfield

Holyfield also joined the team late last year and seemed to have a pretty good camp. He had an advantage in the competition for the fourth running back spots but it looks like the Eagles are keeping just three.

RB Adrian Killins

The speedy UDFA from UCF had a good camp and the coaches seemed to like him. He seems to be a good candidate to get to the practice squad if he’s available.

WR Marcus Green

After spending last season on the practice squad, perhaps that’s in Green’s future again. He was cut and brought back during training camp.

WR Manasseh Bailey

The UDFA from Morgan State had a great catch to close out the scrimmage and training camp at the Linc on Sunday, but he was never really in contention for a roster spot.

C Luke Juriga

Juriga, from Western Michigan, got more money than anyone from the Eagles’ undrafted class. He’s likely going to be a practice squad member.

DB Grayland Arnold

Arnold was another high-priced UDFA from Baylor. He had a good training camp and was talked up by the Eagles often. His release might give a guy like Marcus Epps or Rudy Ford a shot.

WR Travis Fulgham

Added late in training camp, Fulgham is 6-2, 215 and made some impressive catches.

OG Julian Good-Jones

Good-Jones is an undrafted rookie from Memphis.

DB Elijah Riley

Another UDFA, Riley made some big plays during training camp. The Army product might have a shot to stick around on the practice squad.

TE Tyrone Swoopes

Swoopes has some NFL experience with the Seahawks but he was a late arrival in camp. It’s worth noting that Noah Togiai is still on the team for now. He might make the roster.

RB Michael Warren

The tough-running UDFA from Cincinnati never really got to show off his running style with the Eagles this summer. He was hurt by the loss of preseason games.

So wait... They are keeping 3 RBs? One of whom can never stay healthy and another of whom is currently injured? And the other we really don't know if he's a legit #2?

They may very well be keeping just 3 on the active roster (for now ... that just doesn't seem reasonable when you have an oft injured #3 ... Clement ...  and Sanders also missing some time in camp due to injury), but you can bet they will have a couple RBs on the PS that can be called up as needed and moved back down.  I'm guessing Holyfield will be one of those they'll try to get on the PS - all reports indicated he had a pretty solid TC.  Further guessing they are watching the waiver wire to see who else shakes loose before committing to a 4th on the active roster.

Anyway, hoping Burnett, Juriga, and Arnold clear waivers and are added to the PS - the latter 2 give us young prospects to develop at positions in which we need to identify young talent/successors.

Honestly hope Holyfield makes the PS.

Me too. And Warren. They are going to need options on the PS.

I just want them to keep the most physical, tough guys. Too many soft pansies have been collecting on this team. Time to chase them away with physicality.
