Ted Hurst (WR, Georgia State)- 2026 NFL Draft

He has the look.

6'3'' 185. Nearly Todd Pinkston measurables but 20 pounds too heavy for that. You can see the really long legs. They dont turn over too quickly, but with the stride length the speed looks adequate.

I wonder if he can get faster with some training.

No idea the round projection. Looks like a small school guy who will ascend the rankings from relative unknown to possible mid-round. Can he sneak in to day 2 even? Definitely one to watch at the senior bowl.

Had the catch of the day on day 1 of senior bowl practice

If Quez could do that - he wouldn't be on the PS.

Ive been watching a lot of mocks on YouTube and quite a few of them have us taking Hurst in the late 3rd / early 4th round

Well, I think he will be drafted in the 2nd but thatd be nice.

I like this kid and I really like that he is just turning 22 this July. Sometimes those 24 or 25 year old prospects are almost done developing. Not the case here. there's plenty of time to grow.

I think someone posted in the draft threads that the Eagles are reportedly considering Hurst with their 2nd round pick, so apparently they're high on him as a prospect.

Yes. The rumor was 3rd round. Good stuff.

I don't pay much attention to mock drafts as they are never accurate beyond the first couple of picks (they're just fun to check out), but having said that, the latest mock version from DraftTek has us taking Hurst with pick 68. Picks projected thru the end of day 2:

23 - Iheanachor

54 - Dennis-Sutton

68 - Hurst

98 - Wheatley

Im not super excited about any of those players, but its pretty darn solid.

Theyre all sorta exciting- IF they meet their potential. My problem is the first 3 picks are each boom or bust type picks. Thats a lot of boom or bust.

Finally get down to Wheatley, who you know what youre getting. Hes probably plug and play to replace Blankenship. Which is nice. Ill be comfortable at the safety spot. But... thats it. Theres not really much upside there. Hes not one of the exciting safety prospects.

Ill give it a solid B grade.

Out of curiosity, what would your ideal (but mostly realistic) first 4 picks be?

I am pretty much decided that safety will be BPA in round 1. So its whichever is left between McNeil-Warren and Thieneman. If Tyson is still on the board, thatll throw a wrench in plans because I think the eagles will consider him at 23. Depends on what they think about his injury history. They may say he is too good to pass on at that point and take the risk. But for the sake of this, we will stick with safety.

Round 2 BPA at position of need likely Edge. Possibly CB. Im hoping Howell, or Lawrence are still there. In the event both of them are gone, I think Jacas is an exceptionally eagles type of player, or Moore from Michigan but I think theyre going to be super high on Jacas. Exactly their type.

Early round 3 BPA at position of need getting in to the area of the draft where some OLs are worthy of their draft selection. And, there should be a couple nice CBs left. But the eagles are showing interest in some 3rd round type WRs. Germie Bernard, Ted Hurst, Stribling, Antonio Williams. The guy who reported on the Ted Hurts round 3 interest is the same guy that called with certainty our interest in Jergens round 3. So I cant ignore that. Im going to pencil in Hurst as a round 3 pick (if we didnt take Tyson in round 1).

Putting names to it using eagles needs, scheme fits, and my own projections where value is at for each position itll look something like this:

  1. S McNeil-Warren

  2. Edge Jacas

  3. G Rutledge

    1. WR Hurst

Thats 3 starters- Safety, Guard, and WR2. And a rotational edge who will play a large role with the 1st 4 picks.

Continuing on in to round 4, sweet spot for some TEs in round 4 and 5. If youre really lucky, Delp with his foot fracture is still there. Otherwise, the eagles showed interest in Boerkircher. Ill throw in my preference of Joe Royer and Eli Raridon. Round 5 looking at Gyllenborg. Now you have a TE2 who will be another big contributor.

And then round 5 now, youre out of the top tier CBs are gone at this point, but you can get a good scheme fit who can be your starter a year down the line. We are talking guys like Prysock and Hezekiah Masses. PERFECT Fangio CBs. Lenghty guys with enough speed, who exhibit high IQs in man match schemes. Also, one of my guys, Charles Demmings. This CB will play sparingly this season as CB4 but will be your starting CB2 the following season.

Once you address those positions, youre pretty much on to luxury picks in the late rounds. More OL depth (really a poor year for it). Maybe some DT depth (Landon Robinson, Van den Berg) or more Edge depth (Reiger, Nadame Tucker, Barham) . Another WR (though that idea seemed to fly the coop with the crappy Wicks trade yesterday). QB? Behren Morton intrigues me with his gamer attitude, toughness, and comparisons to Baker Mayfield. Eagles have shown interest. Cole Payton, Allar if still in round 6 his arm talent has to begin to interest you, Altmeyer round 7 looks like a steady backup for the QB factory. But Morton is the guy I think is most likely for the eagles.

If you see Howie, let him know I am available.

You tucked the manifesto into the Ted Hurst thread, alright. You’ve almost created a quick reference/grid for the people:

Safety

23: Thieneman, EMW

54: Stukes

68: Clark

98: Kilgore

Wide Receiver

23: Tyson

54: Bell

68: Stribling, Hurst

98: Lance

Etc.

yep thats the whole blueprint. I hope Howie read it and printed it off and hung it up in the war room.
