Not my strategy but its the path that's been set.

The education system is cranking out illiterate, country hating, lil commies for decades. I have nothing to do with that.

Im more than ok with any scenario that starts dealing harshly with them. F em

Wait?!? Wasn’t it the MAGA crowd that screamed that the democrats are a bunch of elites and that’s why the Harvard etc. need to be under federal control? I think illiterate is mostly assigned to the MAGA faithful and that’s not really debatable.

Country hating is the rhetoric the far right has always used to get more illiterate fascists into their cult.

For sure but no doubt I'll have to repeat over and over and over again that I'm not talking about actual MAGA nuts. So sad it has come to that but the division and binary thinking is total and that's where we are now.

Yeah, absolutely. It seems more and more likely that another Civil War is brewing, depending how this current administration goes about the rule of law and elections.

Seems like it would have to be more of a guerilla type conflict.

...and I never suggested anyone try to move any of them. That discussion was a good example of how far people are wrapped into this binary way of thinking. JohnSnow is the other poster here that explains it well. MAGA is a catch word now for all the Trump voters but not all of the Trump voters are real MAGA. In any case, Lynched is a full blown knuckle dragger MAGA enthusiast.

Are you the guy who doesn't actually live in the US? You really underestimate how many of these people are unreachable. Hate and/or religion controls them.

I'm just curious how much you see or interact with these people on a day-to-day basis.

Look at the far far right! They’re basically calling for a Civil War and are saying that the Trump administration isn’t doing enough… let’s assume they mean killing of people who aren’t in their cult.

Here we are again. I'm NOT talking about the MAGA hardcores. I'm talking about the people that moved from Biden to Trump plus a small percentage of people that just always vote Republican and now have some remorse. Trump won on the margins. It was not a landslide. Moving even 5% of the Trump vote is enough to change the outcome of a general election. Enough are reachable.

In any case, yes, I live abroad. As such, I'm not in a workplace setting everyday with loads of MAGA or in the Wawa. That is true. On the other hand, I'm recently retired (early, I'm just past 60) and I have plenty of time to stay connected. I take in a lot of US right wing media and right wing influencer material and I also have lots of old high school classmates on FB who are MAGA. There are also some MAGA people here believe it or not. One of my brothers (lives in CT) and his family are also all very MAGA and I speak with them fairly regularly. I'd say I have a solid understanding of how unreasonable they are generally.

The way I always envisioned it was that it would degenerate into recurring violent small scale events that were politically/culturally motivated. I called that "lock&load" in here and have gotten a tremendous amount of sheet for throwing that phrase out there. No doubt I was way early to call that out but it seems quite close now. One SUV filled with a small group of armed lefties popping up and knocking off a bunch of DHS agents is enough to set it off.

Idk, I’d hate to think we are on the cusp of no return already. The Trump administration would do well to lower the rhetoric, but that’s just not the way their leader handles these things. They double and triple down on everything, regardless of it being true or not.

Doc Philly has been very clear in the fact that he is not talking about hard core MAGA. I’m not sure why some of you feel the need to keep hammering him about this, but he is on your side.

I think you know the answer.

The NRA successully lobbied Ronald Reagan to ban open carry in CA after black residents started buying and legally open carrying in CA during the Civil Rights movement.

The NRA is not a gun rights group, they are a whites only, conservative gun rights group.

Right on cue. A kid open fires on a school and the NRA holds rallies in the same town but a guy gets gunned down for exercising is 2A rights and they say this sheet.

There is a reason why people who are super pro-2A do not like the NRA. They more or less became a giant grift.

Right. Note I'm not saying "civil war" here. However, I am saying I expect a lot more violence than what we are currently seeing. I hope I continue to be wrong.

Half of the posters in here doing that just like to give me sheet, fair enough. The others just straight up can't think beyond a simple binary perspective.

Man I would love to be a fly on the wall for those interdepartmental calls/meetings.

I'm guessing they're very heated, but still professional. (Something about the law that's funny, when you get disagreements between two groups that work with the law, it's hilarious how much heated professionalism there is over a huge disagreement. It's maxed out when two lawyers who hate each other and have a massive disagreement are arguing. Topically, you'd think they're just arguing over minutiae and getting pedantic about it, but when you read between the lines it's more or less lawyers telling each other "F you and the horse you rode in on and your mother" but it's not obvious they're doing so.)

Which is a shame because usually the Feds are super cool. It's not like the movies or tv where the Feds roll in and the local cops roll their eyes and there's a big struggle over solving a case. My department was small as hell, so there was limited interaction with Feds compared to other departments, but from the limited interactions we had with them they were all cool and very good at their jobs.

Why do any of you engage with a dumF who's trolling - badly - after emptying a case of gennessee and waiting for his mom to finish work so he can mop the glory hole?

I get what you're saying, I really do. I'm just not as optimistic enough about this population as you are. People keep saying the "fringe" Trump voters aren't as stubborn and I don't believe that.

Personally I think we should focus on the youth vote and non-voter.

That's not fair. We've been hit over the head with these people for over 10 years. You can't blame us for being pessimistic about their ability to use common sense. What rationale person votes for Donald Trump in 2024? It's not a stretch to believe they would somehow talk themselves into him in 2028 (even the non-hardcore)

Haha… not making sense whatsoever. I’m not on board with the over the top transgender ideology. There are two genders: man and woman.

That’s the difference between us. You’re incapable of calling a spade a spade due to your cult and lack of comprehension.

I think he does call a spade a spade, and also calls them a lot worse.

That's a good point. If we were being fair the discussion would be a reasonable back and forth about the non MAGA types and the idea you have that it might be hard to pull them back to something sane. However, what I typically get as a reply is more in the "MAGA idiots are not coming back and in fact they should be dismissed as evil and sub human" vein.

btw - I like the thought of the 1st time voters and those who voted for the first time in '24. That group is not particularly large but they are surely malleable. Good point in your other reply.

Inexcusable conduct by that agent. He needs to be held accountable and thrown in jail for a long time.

Unfortunately that accountability is probably 3 years away.

you can twist yourself into saying the first one was self defense but this one was straight up murder.
