Do you pay 2 DTs $60,000,000 combined a year?

Annnnd I was right.

I thought for sure Howie was going to trade Carter because there was no way he'd sink that much cap into two players at the same position. Man was I wrong. And now neither one are playing worth their contracts. Add on the complete misses at trades like Huff and Greenard and the mess is just piling up. This team is going to be eating top ramen cap for years to straighten out this mess.

There is nothing wrong with the philosophy. They’ve just both gotten worse.

Yeah, but I'm not ready to toss Carter or Davis out the window.........True they haven't played up to par and that's something that needs to be addressed by Fangio. But the defense as a whole had not performed as expected and that's something else that has to be addressed. What could be the reasons?

-Has the terrible offense caused the defense to tire sooner in games?

-Has the injuries to Greenard, Smith and Hunt caused offenses to double up Carter more since there's been no outside pressure? The pass rush has been lousy...

-Is Carter's wrist injury a factor?

-Is Davis in as good a shape as he was last year?

-Is the loss of Nakobe Dean and Blankenship causing more breakdowns than expected?

-Is Fangio's heart still in the game? He was rumored to be contemplating retirement last year......

-Has success too early made some of these young guys a little lackadaisical?

-Why are Dejean and Woolen struggling so much? Was Woolen overrated when he came here? Is Dejean healthy?

There's a balance that's needed between offense, defense and special teams.....and the eagles haven't had it all year.

Just because the players got paid much $$$$$ doesn’t always translate into said player playing great, and living up to their astronomical contract.

I could bet that once their contracts are over, we'll think it was worth it. You can't make conclusions this early, especially when most of the team is playing real bad.

Good question.

Hmmm, I think I would. The Eagles build through their Lines, O and D. Those positions are very important to them. So if they have 2 stud D Linemen, gotta pay them.

But what if they have 2 ubderperforming players, who just got paid a ton of money, as if they were Simmons, and both have no future incentive to perform or achieve. ???

Their goal was never to perform Sprints after practice, it was to Get Paid. They did get paid. Now ...it's...in the great Carter words :" I do not care what the fans want".

I always hated those resignings.

Davis is a loser

When's Clint Hurtt going to get some criticism for the absolute garbage coaching he's been doing with the d line the last couple years? He might be the worst coach on the team. And people talk about him taking over Fangio. Hard no.

Yeah, I gave credit to him all along, as I thought the DLine was going to be the strongest part of the Team.

I was wrong. I’ll eat some crow.

Even if the D was entirely healthy, I still think they would be having some issues. Dean and Blank are missed.

The d line was pathetic last year as well. They were last in the league in sacks before they picked up Phllips and then saw some improvement. They're currently tied for 29th and mostly healthy. The amount of crap Kuper gets for the oline and nary a peep out of anyone ever about Hurtt. Given the assets he has to work with He might be the worst of the bunch. He can pack a bag.

Greenard, Smith, and Hunt are not healthy this season? Therefore, not much of an Edge.

Carters had his injuries, the only Healthy one is Davis and the backups. Or so it seems.

IMO, they don’t need to be in the top 5 of sacks to be a good Defense. Getting pressure is of importance too. Makes the QB throw the ball quicker, which means the back 7 has less time to cover.

The defense is mostly healthy. They'll likely have all 11 starters this weekend. Nobody said they had to be in the top 5 of anything. Just not be in the bottom and look like they want to play on sundays. They're 27th in rushing yards allowed as well. They stink. And they look like they quit.

That game against the cowboys at home should have got someone benched. Possibly fired. A good coach would demand some accountability at some level somewhere. All we get is AI generated pep talks and buzzwords about togetherness from Howie and Jeffrie's hand puppet.

Who do you propose getting benched when they ALL stunk, gave minimal effort, and didn’t feel like tackling or covering??? You are gonna bench your healthy starters? Or your 2nd or 3rd stringers??

No one is getting fired or benched yet. They”ll give it to the Bye Week, evaluate coaches and players and health and scheme. AND then something should change/happen, if they come out of the Bye week and still look/play the same.

A team benches players, and conducts firing of Coaches, IF they have a plan ready to go, for said actions. NOTHING about this years team tells me that they have this type of plan already in place.

What a terrible decision this looks like by Howie! Giving Carter and Davis huge contracts and just completely overlooking DE.

Carter has barely been more than potential since we drafted him (1 great year in 2024) and Davis just has not developed like we all hoped. He’s not a bad player he’s just nowhere near elite.

Carter is immature. He's 25 and acts 18. Booker from Dallas owns him by the way, and that kid is only 22 or 23. Carter needs to grow up and take the next step in his development or he needs to be moved because the ROI isn't there if he's going to give minimal effort and commitment. He's being beaten physically, which I imagine he's not used to at all. Time for him to focus and step up or be lazy and step away.
