Don't think any more trades will happen prior to the draft. The biggest thing FA alleviated was the need for a 3rd CB. On to the draft!

1. Trade! I think there's a 95% chance Howie will be eyeing up an OT and will trade up to ensure he gets his guy. Who that guy is...that's the real question. But I don't think he's gonna wait to see who falls to 23, he'll move up. The trade: Eagles send 23, 68 and 137 to the Panthers for 19 and 83. Eagles take OT Blake Miller.

2. Edge Dani Dennis-Sutton - Barring a surprise trade for an Edge, Howie will almost certainly take one within the first 3 rounds. In my scenario here, DDS won't make it to pick 83.

3. WR Bryce Lance - Kinda reminds me of Christian Watson a little bit. This will be a Sean Mannion influenced pick. Brown will likely be traded in June and even if not, he'll be gone by next offseason at the latest.

4. OL Brian Parker II - Versatile, athletic lineman, can back up multiple spots. Need to keep that OL pipeline fresh

5. TE Sam Roush - My favorite sleeper pick and think he'll be a good starter in 2027 and beyond.

5. S Michael Taafe - Another potential sleeper pick and 5th round is probably the best we can hope for as far as where Howie will prioritize Safety.

6. Edge Michael Heldman - Taking a flier on developmental depth. Heldman could surprise.

I like the draft as well as your trade.

Since Heldman is a new name here's what I have on him.

Central Michigan 6'4" 260

Walterfootball - unrated

Drafttek - rated player 392

Profootballnetwork - untrated after 650 rated players

ProFootBallfocue - unrated after 600 players

ESPN - unrated after 600 players

The Athletic - unrated after 700 players.

Odds are about 100% he can be had as an undrafted free agent.

While Howie does have a history of trading up to select his guy, I think when it comes to OT in this year's draft he'll actually wait this one out patiently. Once you get past Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano who will go off the board in the top 15 picks, the remaining first round OT prospects are not that far off from each other IMO:

  • Kadyn Proctor OT Alabama - The type of player the Eagles would pursue if Jeff Stoutland was still the OL coach, probably not on their radar now; projected 1st round

  • Monroe Freeling OT Georgia - Raw prospect but great scheme fit for zone blocking; projected 1st round

  • Caleb Lomu OT Utah - A more experienced prospect who is a strong pass blocker, needs work on run blocking, also good fit for zone blocking scheme; projected 1st round

  • Blake Miller OT Clemson - Very experienced prospect who is a good scheme fit for zone blocking; projected 1st-2nd round

  • Max Iheanachor OT Arizona State - More of a raw prospect compared to Freeling above but likewise a great scheme fit for zone blocking; projected 1st-2nd round

I think the Eagles comfortably can walk away with one of the latter four prospects at 23 as I don't see 7 OT going off the board in the first 22 picks. They can afford to go with a raw prospect like Freeling or Iheanachor if they choose since Lane Johnson is returning this season but if they prefer someone more experienced, one of Lomu/Miller should be available at 23.

100 % agree.

I don’t think Howie will trade up for an OT in the first because like you said, he won’t have to.

I believe that Howie will only trade up for a blue chip player who’s sliding. Someone like Vega Ioane or maybe a Dillon Thieneman in that 15-20 range. Otherwise he’ll stick and pick…

Heck! I can even see him trading down for 2027 picks and take someone like Max Iheanachor or Chris Bell late in the first.

Yeah he very could end up being a UDFA. But, I like his upside hence taking him with the last pick so we don't have to fight for him in the UDFA frenzy.

I totally understand what you're saying, but I don't think Howie will look at it like that. Of those you listed, Freeling and Miller are the top 2, followed by Lomu. Personally, I don't want Proctor and I'm not interested in Iheanchor at 23.

Howie's tendency is to "get his guy"...if that's Miller or Freeling or maybe even Lomu...whomever it is, he will want to ensure he gets him and not "settle" for Iheanchor or whomever at 23. That's just not how he operates.

Trading down for 2027 picks isn't a bad idea...as long as they can still get a good player or 2 from this draft (i.e., a good player meaning that will start for us at some point, at least).

Exactly…

Overall this isn’t a good draft class. It lacks elite talent and has only a handful of blue chip players who’ll all be out of reach for the Eagles.

If they come out of this draft with LJ’s heir, a good WR, OG, S and TE they can build on and a quality pass rusher it’s mission accomplished.

Let's move on. No one knows about the new offensive line coach but Stoutland was not supernatural He had his failures too - can you say Andre Dillard.

The type of player the Eagles take will be a player who fits the offensive scheme. If the new scheme relies on movement then Proctor probably isn't the guy.

I hear you too, I wouldn't be surprised with a trade up, given the history and the trade you mocked isn't bad. Just have a gut feeling Howie is gonna be more patient this year looking at the value of who is on the board

Perhaps I should have phrased that differently, the point I was trying to make was that Stoutland has a different scheme than what Sean Mannion is likely going to implement and that Proctor is less likely to be a scheme fit with the new coaching staff who will probably run a zone blocking scheme.

I can't quite get a good feel for this draft. Most draftniks have said this draft overall is relatively weak. That could give further motivation to trade up to ensure a top talent in this draft. Howie has also traded up more times than he's stayed put or traded back (in Round 1). Ideally, I'd like to be able to stay put and have a good player be there at 23. But if OT is the target, I'd fully anticipate a trade up. There's a decent chance that WR could be our 1st round pick too. And the more I think about that, the more I'm convincing myself that WR will be the target. I'm 100% convinced Brown will be gone and Howie knows Hurts needs good weapons to maximize the offense. If Omar Cooper Jr is the target, there's a half decent chance he'd still be there at 23.
