Just realized there's no thread for this but there should be. This show is amazing. It won so many awards for season 1

The Pitt fest episode was insane

My favorite characters are Robby, Mohan, King, Whitaker

There were a ton of emotional episodes in season 1 and have been a bunch of season 2. They do touch on current social topics. I was surprised how quickly an ice episode happened

Noah has done an amazing job with Robby

I understand Santos not liking Langdon because of what happened and seemingly swept under

Even the new student docs are interesting

Robby breakdown

Such a powerful scene

Whitaker finding him

Really enjoy this show. It's ER meets 24. And it's odd but nice to see Noah Wyle playing the grizzled vet as opposed to the young med student.

I kept hearing about this, we finally started watching and have been binging it since last week, almost caught up to current. I hate that shows release 1 episode a week. So once we get through current, we're gonna wait til next week to watch the final 2 (this week's and next week's) rather than waiting a week to watch just 1 episode.

It's almost like continuing ER. It obviously looks and feels familiar but there are actors I thought were on ER but aren't. There are 2 other actors besides Wyle that were on ER. Charge Nurse Dana was in 1 ep, probably as a patient. Some other guy was a patient for 1 episode each.

It's got the similar action, bouncing from scene to scene but doing it 24-style was a good choice. And some of the tropes like surgeons showing up and ALWAYS being rude to the ER staff and pretentious like they're better than them. The cops wanting their own served first, the security keeping an eye on a prisoner, the stories of people who have struggles at home or can't afford health care. It's all very familiar but at the same time fresh and welcomed.

I've seen some social media posts and reactions. For many it's the first show they've put their phone down and paid full attention and not been scrolling. Also younger viewers aren't used to characters that have nuance: some things you like about them, some you don't. It's not always black and white. I saw some comments that people are used to reality shows or dumbed down characters that have 1 trait where you're supposed to just like them or hate them, but this show has characters with depth...and shows character growth. Like those in season 1 starting out that now in season 2 are more mature after just 10 months and acting more seasoned. Some people think Robbie is being horrible to Dr. Mohan but he's also encouraging her and telling her she's doing a good job, he's trying to be a mentor to push her...but also when he goes too far he apologizes.

I like that it handles mental health, neurodivergent patients and doctors, and shows that you can't always stop and lecture or process things you have to move on in that busy environment. It's accused of being too "woke" and preachy but I think some of it is just presenting what life is really like. There are autistic patients who can benefit from dimmed lights and less noise. LGBT people exist. But I don't think they're like being too preachy about it. Like the trans person in season 1, some shows would have made that an entire episode and got on a preachy soap box. Instead, the patient was just a patient with a normal issue and was treated, and there was a brief comment about being misgendered in the system and she fixed it, the trans woman said thank you. That patient was never seen again. Wylie in an interview said trans people have shared feedback appreciating it.

The next episode up is the ICE episode which I've heard is "too woke" but at the same time, ICE is out there doing these things so it's just reflecting reality like Law & Order and other shows do.

Wylie writes and directs some episodes. So does Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Abbott from night shift, also SWAT doctor because he has all this free time lol). Saw an interview with Hatosy where he was asked about fan suggestions to have a spinoff that shows the night shift. A commenter said it might be cool to see a whole season where the night shift takes over where the season finale of the day shift ended and keep the 24 hour cycle going. That could be interesting.

This is going to take a bunch of awards again

They're so scared of Robby lol

Robby is going to crash out. So Robby is possibly suicidal

Surprised Al-Hashimi confided in Robby. She must not have got the vibe that he doesn't trust the ER with her and her disappearances. Though her medical history now explains it

Santos with the smartass reply after Robby chewed out the 2 guys who didn't want to move the big boobed woman was funny. Her character seems to provide the sarcastic relief for the show. Will they have her forgive Langdon?

This season has touched on a lot of current social issues which is nice

Next weeks episode looks good

Watching it with my wife. She works at a hospital that is a level 1 trauma center and she keeps remarking about how realistic it is.
