Firing Fangio would be dumb AF.
May 21May 21 There is little doubt in my mind that when Fangio was reported as mulling over retirement during the off season, it was a ploy in his contract negotiation for an extension. What better way to create leverage?

May 22May 22 Yeah, but that has nothing to do with why he was fired. He should know that, being a coach. If you don't perform and produce results, you get canned. Basic sports 101.

Nobody said anything about Fangio getting"fired." That was the Phillies manager we were talking about. The media had Fangio retiring after this year. Fangio just said that was bull, which I am GLAD about- he is the king of D.
May 22May 22 Fangio should be happy to have all the defensive talents the team has. Of course, he has inputs on bringing the talents on board and development of young players. Fun to have all the pieces to deploy and create. To make this defense feared by the other teams' offense.

DOH!
May 22May 22 Everybody the media speculated "could retire" has not. People will still continue to believe click bait "reports."

May 27May 27 Fangio saying he's got 2 more years in him could just be his way of avoiding this season being a "farewell tour" or whatever. I hope it's true, but we'll see after this season. Could also depend on whether or not we have to find a new HC.

He still likes doing what he does and he already lives in the place he wants to live.
