Many career choices come with risks. Whether it's physical, mental or personal such as relationships. And we make those choices based on many factors. It's tough to tell a talented kid, who has a chance to be a professional, that the risks could cause health issues in his 40's, 50's or beyond.

The list of risky or dangerous careers is extensive, but people do them for reasons like money, passion, family footsteps, genuine interest or a perceived lack of options.

Studies like these are valuable in highlighting the need for better protection and developing better equipment. But I doubt it deters players from pursuing their talent.
