Personally I would love to keep him. I checked Over the Cap and Q and Coops contracts don't come due until 2027, so it is possible that we can re-sign him after this year.

Only issue is what does everyone think is fair market value. Would he take a team friendly deal or would he try to test free agency and get paid like Milton WIlliams did ?

If that position gets allocated so many dollars, where does it take away $$$ from other positions?

With that said, I would love to see Moro get extended.

Ideally you would like to keep him. I don't Howie putting more money in the DT position. I think he is crossing his fingers Bernard shows something do we can let Ojomo walk.

If Bernard shows any promise whatsoever, we will have to keep him on the final 53. It doesn't sound like the Eagles are expecting him to be an "NFL player" anytime soon.

Even if we extend Ojomo, we could always trade him if he continues to play at the level he played last season. So it will be interesting to see how an Ojomo extension is structured compared to players we would expect to keep around. IMO, Ojomo is better than Milton Williams which is why letting Williams leave in free agency was no big deal. A young, productive DT on his 1st extension should easily be able to bring back a 1st round pick if the Eagles were to trade him at some point during that contract.

Unlike the Milton Williams situation, we don't really have a ready replacement for Ojomo who will be playing on a rookie contract for a couple years. So it would be wise to work out a deal good for both sides. Byron Young flashed a little for us last year, but he'd need to be extended after this season if that was the plan going forward. Ty Robinson has yet to excite anybody.

Would love to keep him. Don't see how. Posted a couple of days ago about Steen. The Eagles need him but the contract Bergeron signed with Atlanta may make that impossible. Both 4th year guards and if Steen wants a similar contract I'm not sure Howie would pay it.

No. Not a chance.

I don’t know how they keep Mitchell and DeJean.

I'm sure there are always "conversations" about a deal with players whom are eligible and that they'd want to keep. It's probably Howie just feeling them out to see if there's any shot at getting him at a cheaper rate. But you know his agent will be advising to wait until FA to cash in. I'd be shocked if they got a deal done with him.

Plus there's just too many other money players coming up next year...obviously Q and DeJean...but also Jalyx Hunt. If Hunt has the kind of season we hope, he will end up being a big contract. Then there's Hurts...after this year, I imagine a decision will be made to extend him again. Lots of pay days coming up, as much as I'd love to keep Ojomo, I just can't see it being a reality.

Let me preface this by saying I'd prefer to keep Ojomo to help make a run this year....but I do low-ley wonder if he could be traded. I bet he'd fetch at least a 2nd rounder, maybe more. Saints just lost their top DT and Kellen Moore is familiar with Ojomo. If Ty Robinson, Byron Young, Gabe Hall or even Zion Wilson show something in camp, it might be a good move to trade Ojomo for a good return.

They're likely the highest priority now

I have confidence that Howie will figure the situation out, and both players will get a second contract with the Eagles.

Unlike the previous off-season with Williams, there is none ready to step in to play DT3 if Ojomo leaves in FA. Trading him now will push that situation forward and create a drop off behind the 2 starters. They could give him a 2-years contract to boost his current season and secure his service for one more year, buying time for the back-up's to develop. When DT3 emerges sooner than planned, they can always trade Ojomo to free up the spot and money.

I think he’s a really good rotational guy and we do need that depth. But they can’t invest too much in him surely? I guess maybe they want to avoid another Milton situation where he has a really good year and they lose him to a huge contract? But sometimes you have to accept you are going to lose some of these really good rotational guys because you have other priorities.

While we’ll have to see if he has another good year, but chagpt currently predicts he’ll sign a four year $90 Mm contract - just shy of milton williams.

I just don't think you can do that and sign our young dbs.

Better to get the third round comp pick which should provide a solid back-up DT for peanuts or draft one in 2027 in a deep DT draft.

Sounds nice and all, but there's no incentive for Ojomo to sign a 2 year deal and no agent worth their salt would allow him to. He's gonna cash in big next offseason assuming he stays healthy. We either roll this year with him, have him contribute to hopefully a championship run, then lose him next offseason and we get a 2028 3rd round comp pick...or....we trade him now for at least a 2027 2nd. Would be a tough choice for me, really. I tend to err on having as much firepower as possible for any given season, but a 2nd round pick in a loaded 2027 draft has good value.

It's ashame that Ty Robinson, last year's 4th rounder pick, seems to not be panning out to at least be a DT3.

You can't always rely on getting every possible comp pick. If for some reason you land a similar signing in free agency, it will cancel out.

Agreed with everything you said until here. A 4th rounder barely into his 2nd year in camp and already saying he isn't panning out out is a bit premature imo. Most 4th rounders don't make it to begin with, so just think he needs a bit more time to see if he can be something or not.

I agree with that sentiment in general. It's just that everything I've heard about Robinson is really discouraging...as in, he's not even showing any flashes of anything. He just gets bullied. Never say never, but if he's gonna pan out, there should at least be signs of it.

Fair enough, hopefully something comes once the preseason starts.

My thoughts exactly.

No way they keep Ojomo.......not with these monster contracts coming to Dejean and Mitchell. Ojomo, especially if he had good year, will get a pretty big contract. Much like Philips last year, they eagle will want to keep him, but a team with tons of cap space will outbid them.

Sheet no

I recognize that everyone can’t get paid, but if there is someone who could pull that off it would be Howie.

No way Eagles can afford to sign Ojomo, wonder if they can trade him and get a 2nd rounder if some team lost a key DT to injury..

2nd rounder and weaken your team or keep him and get a conditional draft pick if/when he signs elsewhere? I'll go with option 2!
