Posted August 4Aug 4 Training Camp Notes 8/3:1. Jalen Hurts came out firing, first completion to Dontayvion Wicks, next to Elijah Moore, then DeVonta Smith. All for 15-20 yards.2. Then in 7-on-7s, a miscommunication between Hurts and a WR, led to a Quinyon Mitchell pick-six.3. Jalen Hurts then followed that up with his best throw of camp so far, a 30 yard TD over the middle to Elijah Moore. Tight window throw.4. Jalen Hurts hit DeVonta Smith for a one yard TD. Then followed that up with a two point conversion to Smith.5. A great play call from Sean Mannion led to a Jalen Hurts 11-yard rushing TD untouched.6. Moro Ojomo had a big day, was in the backfield often.7. Third round rookie OT Markel Bell got some first team reps today. Performed well, received a lot of praise from the vets.8. Darius Cooper with a nice diving catch over the middle from Jalen Hurts.9. Uar Bernard got his first "sack.” Would’ve taken down Cole Payton who was pressured on the play.10. AJ Epenesa has been having himself a nice camp. Had a "sack” on Tanner McKee.11. Andy Dalton was the QB2 for 11-on-11s.12. Arnold Ebiketie "smothered” Eli Stowers in coverage and the play had no chance.13. Andy Dalton hit Will Shipley for a TD. Then hit Hollywood Brown for two.
August 5Aug 5 Author Day 4 Notes:• As you saw in the headline, Jalen Hurts had his best day of camp so far. He was accurate all over the field, left-middle-right, and short-intermediate-deep. He ripped his best throw of the day down the seam to Elijah Moore, who got open deep down the middle of the field behind the linebackers. Moore double-caught the pass, but was able to control it and run in for a score.I also thought Hurts made a nice throw to Dontayvion Wicks near the left sideline, plus another strike over the middle that hit Moore in stride, allowing him a chance for some yards after the catch. He was effective in the red zone as well. On one TD pass, he rolled right found nothing in the corner of the end zone, then looked back toward the middle and threw a strike across his body to Wicks, who was covered on the play by Riq Woolen. He also threw a strike to DeVonta Smith near the front corner of the end zone.Hurts even had a nice play as a runner. The offense ran one of the old scheme's signature plays, a well-executed red zone QB draw that was wide open, allowing Hurts to gallop in for an easy score.Hurts did throw an INT today, his first of camp. He had what looked like a miscommunication with Moore. Moore went one way, and Hurts' throw went the other, right to Quinyon Mitchell, who made the easy pick-6.• The Eagles' other super-important Jalen, Jalen Carter, also had a good day, as usual. There was one play against the second-team O-line in which he was doubled by Myles Hinton and Drew Kendall, and Carter tossed them like someone picked the right defensive play in Tecmo Bowl. Hinton went to the ground hard.Carter also disrupted a pass play with immediate pressure that led to an A.J. Epenesa sack.• Moro Ojomo was the other standout D-lineman today. He had a couple of impressive tackles for loss on run plays, teaming up on one of them with Byron Young.• Backup EDGE Arnold Ebiketie showed something in coverage today. He stuck with Eli Stowers on a throw over the middle. It looked like a little crosser, and Ebiketie was able to break up the pass. I don't know how much Ebiketie dropped into coverage in Atlanta, but he looked pretty natural doing it. (Of course, this might be a bad look for Stowers, too, if you're a "glass half empty" type.)• Makai Lemon disappeared from practice at some point early on in the day. Presumably, he's hurt, but there have been no updates yet.Update: It is indeed an injury (exactly what we don't know yet), but it's "not significant," per Jeff McLane: • Andy Dalton is outplaying Tanner McKee early in camp.Dalton isn't doing anything special necessarily, but he is on time with his throws and he is taking what the defense is giving him. He connected with Hollywood Brown a number of times today, including on a two-point conversion after throwing a TD to the flat to Will Shipley. Dalton's best throw of the day was a strike in stride to Johnny Wilson over the middle.McKee had a bad miss to Wilson, who got open down the field. McKee left the ball well short. Missed opportunity for a chunk play.• I'll say this for Cole Payton... He is going to be fun to watch during the preseason games. Today he threw a YOLO ball deep down the field to Erik Ezukanma, who was surrounded by three defenders. It was actually an on-target throw that Ezukanma had a chance to haul in, but the defenders were able to break it up.Payton is not afraid at all to let it rip.He also had a red zone TD pass to TE Stone Smartt, who found a small hole in the defense to settle into; and another red zone TD pass that was deflected by Tariq Castro-Fields, but hauled in by Ezukanma after the deflection.• I have enjoyed watching Tank Bigsby in camp so far. That dude is an Energizer Bunny. He had a lot of carries today, and a bunch of catches. If training camp is any indication, he will have a higher workload than he did last season, as he should.• 🚨🚨🚨 Uar Bernard had a sack today! I mean, it was kind of a coverage sack, and Payton kinda ran into Bernard, but it was a sack nevertheless. Bernard was excited as were defensive teammates on the sideline. Some of the vets really seem to be rooting for him. Moro Ojomo, for example said after practice that he and Bernard share Nigerian descent, so they have that bond.• EDGE Joshua Weru, another rookie from Africa, looks pretty natural running agility drills. He has almost no shot of making the team, but he absolutely has athleticism worth developing on the practice squad.• Another undrafted rookie who has caught my attention early in camp is S Maximus Pulley. He had a diving catch for a would-be INT in the back of the end zone. I thought he got both feet in, but pretty much everyone around me disagreed, so I'll defer. He has also shown some physicality in the run game. He slammed into an offensive lineman during a goal line session today. He didn't make the play, but I just liked his fearlessness.• We noted in prior notes posts that Nolan Smith (a) looks bulked up this year, and (b) is still wearing a big brace on his arm. A look:Smith acknowledged that he "put on some LB's" this offseason. Jalyx Hunt also said that he added muscle.• I got a chance to watch undrafted rookie LS Rocco Underwood have an extended field goal snapping session to holder Braden Mann, with Jake Elliott looking on. Ideally, the long snapper will put 3.5 revolutions on the football so that when the ball reaches the holder, he can put the ball down, laces out. You do not want to have the holder to spin the ball these days so the laces point out. Back in 2017, I took my own slow motion video of Jon Dorenbos snapping during practice. Notice that he has the laces down on the snap, he puts a perfect 3.5 revolutions on the football, and my boy Donnie Jones can place the ball down with no need for a spin.Anyway, most of Underwood's snaps required Mann to spin the ball. I'm sure Elliott didn't love Underwood's snapping session.Side note: Part of the plot of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is that Miami Dolphins kicker turned murderous cop Ray Finkle is on the hunt for revenge against Dan Marino, who did not spin the ball so that the laces were out when he missed a potential game-winning kick in the Super Bowl. Maybe Marino could have spun the ball better. I dunno, I'd have to watch the tape. But Finkle should've been trying to get his revenge on the long snapper every bit as much as Marino, if not more so.https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2026-training-camp-practice-notes-day-4-jalen-hurts-best-day-so-far/
August 5Aug 5 Author Camp Notes – Good Day for OffensePosted August 4th, 2026The consensus among the beat writers covering Eagles Training Camp is that the defense out-performed the offense over the first three days. The offense has talented players, but the defense could be the best in the league. They are just better. Add in the fact the offense is installing a new scheme and you can see why the defense has looked better. The offense didn’t install new plays on Monday, instead running stuff they had already practiced. And that resulted in the offense’s best performance of the summer. Jalen Hurts threw multiple TDs and the offense had some really impressive moments.Jimmy Bama has notes on Hurts performance. As you saw in the headline, Jalen Hurts had his best day of camp so far. The offense ran one of the old scheme’s signature plays, a well-executed red zone QB draw that was wide open, allowing Hurts to gallop in for an easy score.Hurts did throw an INT today, his first of camp. He had what looked like a miscommunication with Moore. Moore went one way, and Hurts’ throw went the other, right to Quinyon Mitchell, who made the easy pick-6.The PHLY crew noted that Hurts showed a lot of emotion after some of the big plays. He has probably heard some criticism and gotten frustrated because it lacked context and created bogus narratives. As we’ve talked about, it can be tough to evaluate some things when you don’t know what a player or unit is trying to do. Hurts and the offense were in more of a fair fight on Monday and won their share of battles.I like Hurts showing emotion. I want him dialed in and fired up. Too much emotion can be a bad thing, but I don’t think anyone will accuse Hurts of being too emotional anytime soon.*****BLG was impressed by the WR corps.Good practice for the Eagles’ roster bubble wide receivers. Elijah Moore ran a sharp route to get open in the middle of the field for a completion of at least 15 yards. He later caught a touchdown from Hurts, as previously mentioned. Darius Cooper caught everything thrown his way, including when he made a diving grab on a Hurts throw over the middle. Johnny Wilson made a couple catches over the middle on passes from Andy Dalton. Wilson did fail to secure a Tanner McKee pass to him that was a little low but still catchable. We have talked about how deep this group is. They are going to make final cuts tough on Howie Roseman and the coaching staff. There are three locks.DeVonta SmithMakai LemonDontayvion WicksHollywood Brown is a notch below that. He’s likely to make the roster, but does have to earn it. I’m guessing Cooper is in the lead for the number five spot now. There is a case for Wilson and Moore. Wilson has unique size at 6-6, 228 and is a good blocker. He’s willing to do the dirty work. Moore has good experience and has been a workhorse receiver in the past. Cooper seems to be playing the best for now and that has him in the lead.Lemon missed the team portion of practice today. Jeff McLane reported that it was due to an injury, but isn’t anything too serious.Quez Watkins and Danny Gray are a couple of veterans who have had their moments. Here is BLG on Watkins.Quez Watkins almost made a sick one-handed catch in the back of the end zone via a McKee pass but it was ruled that he did not get both feet in. Yes, Quez Watkins is still on the team and has been since he returned to Philly on the practice squad last season.Really deep group this summer.*****Speaking of Jeff McLane, he did have some defensive highlights from the day.Another day, another Jalen Carter highlight. The defensive tackle did his damage against the second offense this time around. It looked like he steamrolled guard Drew Kendall into tackle Myles Hinton, who ended up on his back. Carter nearly had an interception, but a Hurts pass sailed through his hands and still found its way to receiver Hollywood Brown.Edge Nolan Smith had what appeared to be his first sack of the summer. He beat tackle Fred Johnson on the outside and Hurts had nowhere to run after the pocket collapsed. Arnold Ebiketie dropped into coverage and impressively broke up an Andy Dalton attempt to rookie tight end Eli Stowers.Carter makes a splash play every day. He is healthy and seems to be on a mission to show he’s worthy of the big contract he just got.Jimmy Bama noted that Smith has bulked up this offseason. It will be interesting to see how that affects his performance. Speed and athleticism have been important for him, but he didn’t stay healthy. Smith will be a free agent after this year so he wants to show he can stay healthy and be productive.*****Dave Zangaro has notes on the backup QBs.Andy Dalton looks way better than I expected. Coming into camp, I thought it was silly that Dalton and Tanner McKee were splitting reps but Dalton has been good. He can still sling it. Dalton began the day with a great ball to Johnny Wilson over the middle in the first period of practice and threw a dot to Wilson with Mac McWilliams in coverage a bit later. The rookie fifth-round pick Cole Payton isn’t gun-shy. He threw a dangerous pass to Erik Ezukanma into triple coverage that luckily fell incomplete; it could have been Payton’s fourth INT of camp. But a bit later, he forced a ball to Ezukanma in the end zone during the developmental period. Ezukanma was able to catch the pass after it got knocked around a bit in tight coverage.Dalton is showing why the Eagles wanted him and also wanted a competition for the #2 role. His performance is good on a couple of levels. First, he could prove to be a good backup for a team hoping to compete for a Super Bowl. Second, his performance increases his trade value for any team that has an injury and needs a veteran backup. It is disappointing that McKee hasn’t looked better, but he is learning a new offense and it is still very early. The reports on Payton are encouraging. He has NFL ability and isn’t shy about taking chances. You love to see that aggressive mentality in a rookie. So many of them are scared to make a mistake that they play too conservative. Payton has a playmaker’s mentality.*****This is interesting.Weru is very under the radar. It would be wild if he made a push for a roster spot.*****Lane Johnson was excused from practice. Fred Johnson and Markel Bell split time at RT.***Ty Robinson has shown some flashes in the last couple of days. He still doesn’t play with the physicality you want, but he is athletic and has a good motor.***Great news for the young guys. There was a fear they were really hurt. Good sign that they were back on the sideline.*****Here is the PHLY crew discussing practice.https://igglesblitz.com/2026/08/camp-notes-offense/

August 6Aug 6 Author Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 5: The defensive line owned the offensive lineThe Eagles defensive line continues to dominate day in and day out at training camp. Some notes:By Jimmy KempskiPhillyVoice StaffKyle Ross/IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectJalen Carter has been a beast at the start of Eagles training camp.Day 5 of Philadelphia Eagles training camp was the longest yet this summer, and there was hitting with the pads on. We have a lot of notes to get to, so, you know, let's just get to them.• The Eagles' defensive line absolutely destroyed the offensive line today. Everyone made plays.Jalen Carter had a two-play sequence in which he got a tackle for loss followed by a Jalen Mills-like finger wag; and then on the next play he smacked Tyler Steen with a club move and got free for a sack. Later, he rushed outside of Steen and into Markel Bell, who was filling in at RT for an absent Lane Johnson. Steen followed Carter, and Carter was able to occupy both Steen and Bell. That allowed Nolan Smith to loop inside unblocked for a sack. Carter has been a beast these first five practices.Nolan Smith also had a nice play in coverage. The offense ran a misdirection play to the left, and tried to sneak Tank Bigsby into open spaces on the right, but Smith wasn't fooled and was all over Bigsby, forcing Hurts to throw the ball at Bigsby's feet.Moro Ojomo was in the backfield a lot. He got the best of Landon Dickerson a few times, plus some of the second stringers. He has picked up where he left off last year. One sneaky-important player for the Eagles this year could be Byron Young. As the fourth interior lineman, he is going to get playing time this season, and he'll be starter if Carter, Davis, or Ojomo go down at some point. He also had a quick pressure against the Eagles' starting O-line.Even the linebackers got in on the action. Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell both had sacks blitzing off of the edge. And finally, I should note that on a lot of the run stops that the Eagles got today, Jordan Davis was occupying multiple blockers but giving up no ground. This Eagles front seven has a chance to be special.• Of course, when one side of the ball is playing well, the other side oftentimes isn't. I thought the offensive line had a really tough day. In addition to simply getting beaten a lot, there seemed to be some miscommunications and/or mental mistakes. We noted the play above where Smith got free because Steen and Bell both blocked Carter. But there were other plays like that, too. On one play, pre-snap Fred Johnson was watching Cooper DeJean, who was lining up as if he was going to blitz, but at the snap DeJean bailed into coverage, and with Johnson preoccupied with the potential blitz Jalyx Hunt ran inside of him unblocked for an easy sack. And then just generally speaking it was a parade of flags all day, some on the defense, but seemingly more on the O-line, both for holds and dead ball pre-snap infractions.• Jalen Hurts had his best day of camp so far on Monday. Tuesday was a lot tougher, but he also didn't get a lot of help, especially with DeVonta Smith missing practice with a hamstring injury.Hurts uncorked a deep ball to Quez Watkins that I thought Watkins should have been able to run under for a long gain, but he couldn't make the play.Hurts also threw a strike to a wide open Will Shipley on a wheel route, but Shipley dropped it. That was the worst drop of camp, by far.On another Hurts deep ball, this time to Hollywood Brown, the ball sailed a bit past its target and was intercepted by Michael Carter. Carter caught the ball initially, but it popped up in the air when he hit the ground and he was able to concentrate and catch the ball again on its way down.Even when he got some help, the result wasn't always there. For example, Darius Cooper hauled in a Hurts throw with one hand in the back of the end zone, but wasn't able to get two feet inbounds. • It wasn't all bad from Hurts and the offense. One positive takeaway is that Hurts has quickly built some rapport with Dontayvion Wicks.Wicks had a really nice route on an out-breaker that beat Riq Woolen, and Hurts got it to him in rhythm. Wicks also beat Cooper DeJean near the front corner of the end zone. Hurts also probably had his best throw of the day on a curl route to Wicks, who was being covered by Quinyon Mitchell. Hurts delivered that pass away from Mitchell, to a perfect spot near Wicks' outside shoulder. Wicks was able to shield off Mitchell and make the reception.I like what I have seen from Wicks as a blocker as well, which we highlighted in a film breakdown of him earlier this offseason. Andrew Mukuba slammed into Wicks on a run play, but then Wicks turned the tables on Mukuba and blocked him through the whistle. At the end of the play, Wicks fell into Mukuba's leg. Mukuba didn't like that and the two players got into a fight that broke up quickly.Through five practices, Wicks pretty clearly looks like the second-best receiver in camp.• One guy who I would have on the 53-man roster if cutdowns were today is Cameron Latu. He had a physical block on Jalyx Hunt, coming across the formation on a misdirection play. And on kick coverage, he absolute RAN OVER Darius Cooper, who was trying to block him. Cooper went to ground hard, and Michael Clay liked what he saw from Latu.Latu has some versatility. He can be a blocking tight end, a fullback, and he's a good special teamer.• One under-the-radar undrafted player who has gotten my attention so far this summer is Joshua Weru. In 1-on-1's Weru ran around the corner on John Ojukwu, and although I'd have given the win on the rep to Ojukwu, Weru's speed was obvious. And then late in the day, Weru tried a speed-to-power bull rush on an enormous Hollin Pierce. He knocked Pierce back and got a hand on Cole Payton. The Eagles have something to work with there.• Jake Elliott is coming off of two consecutive down years, so he's worth keeping an eye on in training camp this year. He was 7/7 on his kicks today:Elliott's first six kicks on Tuesday were all during one kicking session. That last 44-yarder was a situational play where the offense got tackled in-bounds and had to rush the FG unit onto the field with the clock ticking down. Good day for Jake.https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2026-training-camp-practice-notes-day-5-defensive-line-owned-offensive-line-jalen-carter/
August 6Aug 6 Always hard to know in TC if the defense looks this good because the offense is bad or if the offense looks bad because the defense is good. Learning curve for the offense is expected, though. So far, the biggest thing to me is Lemon missing all this time in both the spring and now TC with a hammy issue. He hasn't shown anything yet to inspire hope he's ready to be a big part of the offense this year. Combine that with the fact he looks like a 12 year old, not getting a good feeling thus far about him. Wicks being the 2nd best WR is camp is both encouraging and disappointing at the same time. Stowers being quiet so far isn't inspiring either.

August 8Aug 8 Author Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 7: Good day for the top three QBsWho stood out and who disappointed in Eagles training camp Friday?By Jimmy KempskiPhillyVoice StaffColleen Claggett/for PhillyVoiceTanner McKee had his best practice of camp so far.Day 7 was the hottest of Philadelphia Eagles training camp, by far, and it was a solid day for the Birds' top three quarterbacks as well as the offense as a whole. As always, we have practice notes.• With DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon both out — and Dontayvion Wicks absent for most of practice — Jalen Hurts spread the ball around. He completed multiple passes to Elijah Moore, Dallas Goedert, and Darius Cooper, and also connected with Hollywood Brown and E.J. Jenkins. He also took off running and juked Cooper DeJean in the open field. There weren't any highlight reel throws or plays from Hurts, but he was able to get it out quickly to his receivers in his progression with the ball rarely hitting the ground. Solid day.I will say that one habit that Hurts has gotten into this summer is rolling to his right and throwing back across his body to the middle of the field. He completed a pass like that to Cooper today, and it's like the third time I've seen him do that this camp. He has had success with it so far, but that's probably something the Eagles' staff should correct before he falls in love with it.• I didn't have Darius Cooper on my 53-man roster projection to start camp, but he is going to make the team. He has consistently made several catches every day, and he is also an enthusiastic blocker in the run game. He has been the third-best receiver in camp so far, behind Smith and Wicks.• Tanner McKee worked with the second-team offense today, and he had his best day of camp. He had a really nice sideline throw to Danny Gray, and the highlight of the day was probably a fade route to the back corner of the end zone to Johnny Wilson, who I thought got one cheek in for the TD reception. That was a well-placed throw by McKee and Wilson did a nice job high-pointing it and making the contested catch.• That wasn't Wilson's only good play. He also beat Mac McWilliams on a go route down the left sideline. Andy Dalton underthrew it a little, but Wilson had good positioning and boxed out McWilliams for the long gain. • Nothing Andy Dalton is doing is going to wow anyone, but four times I wrote in my notes, "14 on time." 14 on time to 49. 14 on time to 47. 14 on time to 49. 14 on time to 45.Dalton never had a Howitzer for an arm, and in his later years what arm strength he had has waned. But he seems to know where to go with the football and it is coming out with good anticipation.• In addition to the quarterbacks having solid days and getting the ball out quickly, there were some other little signs of encouragement from the offense, like good blitz pickups by Saquon Barkley and Will Shipley. Long way to go, but it's starting to feel like the offense is getting it together a bit.• Jalen Carter had a batted pass today. He has had a bunch of those this summer. He and Jordan Davis are both really good at getting their big paws up and batting down passes. After practice, Davis was asked what coaching points they have on batted passes. Davis said that they look for the quarterback to take his non-throwing hand off the ball, which signals that he is about to let it rip. At that point, if they're not close enough to hit the quarterback, hands up!• I watched backup center/guard Willie Lampkin quite a bit today. That dude is small, but strong. He moves linemen in the run game, and I was impressed with how he is able to get his hand on interior defensive linemen, lock out his arms, and anchor against power. Lampkin is an extreme oddity of an offensive lineman who is only 5'11 and weighs just 290 pounds. He may even be generously listed at 5'11. He was a Rams undrafted free agent who mostly played RG in college, but got some work at center. He was a beast in their preseason games last year. Video via Brandon Thorn: I'm looking forward to watching him play in the Eagles' preseason games. I believe he has put himself in decent position to earn a roster spot, because of his play and his versatility.• Undrafted rookie slot CB / safety Kapena Gushiken had a forced fumble and recovery today, when he gave E.J. Jenkins a nice little pop after a reception. Gushiken doesn't have good size (5'10, 189), but he's fast (4.33 40 at Ole Miss' pro day). Quick highlight reel:My top three undrafted rookies in camp so far:S Maximus PulleyEDGE Joshua WeruCB/S Kapena Gushiken• C Cam Jurgens left practice early. I didn't see it, but Zach Berman of The Athletic said that Jurgens went into the medical tent and then inside. Zach said that he was walking normally under his own power, without any help. Jake Majors filled in for Jurgens.• After four days away with an excused absence, Lane Johnson returned to practice, but he did not participate in team drills. Rookie Markel Bell filled in for him. • I'm gonna need an occasional cloud at practice tomorrow, thank you in advance.https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2026-training-camp-practice-notes-day-7-good-day-for-top-three-qbs/
August 8Aug 8 Author Eagles training camp observations: Big day for couple of depth receiversHere are our observations from Day 7 of Eagles training camp at the Jefferson Health Training Complex.By Dave Zangaro • Published August 7, 2026After a walkthrough on Thursday, the Eagles were back on the practice field Friday morning for the hottest day of training camp so far. This session in full pads lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes with a few water breaks built in.The Eagles will practice again on Saturday before an off day Sunday.Let’s get to our observations from Day 7:1. As always, we’ll start with housekeeping:• After missing the previous four days for a non-injury reason, Lane Johnson returned on Friday. We didn’t get any clarity about his absence but it was good to see No. 65 back on the field. Johnson was a limited participant on Friday as the Eagles ramp up his workload after his absence. Johnson did not participate in team drills.• Center Cam Jurgens left practice during team drills, making a visit to the medical tent and then heading inside. We’ll find out more about his status on Saturday.• Here was the Eagles’ injury report at the start of the day:Not practicing: WR Britain Covey (hamstring), OLB Keyshawn James-Newby (ankle), WR Makai Lemon (hamstring), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring), S Cole Wisniewski (hamstring)Limited: LB Chance Campbell (groin), RT Lane Johnson (progressing his workload), OG Micah Morris (shoulder)This was the third straight missed practice for both Smith and Lemon.• OLB Jonathan Greenard remains on the Active/PUP list with a pec strain. 2. Depth chart notes:• Because Lane Johnson was still not participating in team drills, rookie third-round pick Markel Bell again lined up with the first team at right tackle. He has looked solid in that role.• When Jurgens left practice, Jake Majors took over at center. Although, it seems unlikely that would be the Eagles’ plan in the season. They would likely either move Landon Dickerson to center or insert Drew Kendall.• Here’s a look at the OL depth charts to start the day:First team: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Markel BellSecond team: Fred Johnson, Drew Kendall, Jake Majors, Willie Lampkin, John OjukwuThird team: Myles Hinton, Michael Jordan, Willie Lampkin, Micah Morris, Cameron Williams• Tanner McKee was up first with the second-team offense at quarterback, but Andy Dalton got some work too.• The Eagles opened practice with Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore and Dontayvion Wicks as their top three receivers but mixed and matched after that.• Arnold Ebiketie got some reps with the first-team defense to spell Jalyx Hunt.3. Coming into this training camp, one of the most intriguing battles was at the back end of the receiver position. Two of the players fighting for roster spots — Darius Cooper and Johnny Wilson — had great days on Friday. Cooper has had an excellent training camp and continued it on Friday. He began his day with a first-team rep win over Quinyon Mitchell; Cooper made a catch in front of Mitchell and shielded the All-Pro from the football. But that wasn’t the end. Cooper ended up with about 4 or 5 catches in this practice. One of those catches was a low ball from Jalen Hurts that Cooper scooped up just off the ground. Another was a toe-tapping catch on the sideline on a pass from Tanner McKee.Wilson, meanwhile, had two great catches after a relatively quiet start to his camp. The first big catch was a gain of around 40 yards on a pass from Andy Dalton. Dalton reared back and launched a deep ball that actually ended up slightly underthrown. But Wilson adjusted, came back and made the catch against the coverage from Mac McWilliams. Later in practice, Wilson was able to make a grab on a McKee pass in the end zone over Jonathan Jones and Michael Carter II. It’s the kind of catch you want to see from a 6-foot-6 receiver.4. Jordan Davis got off to a great start in team drills, working a swim move to get into the backfield for a "sack” on Jalen Hurts. Davis had a breakout season in 2025 and is continuing to hone his pass-rush skills.5. Jalen Hurts is clearly getting more and more comfortable in this new offense. While there weren’t a ton of passes from QB1 in this practice, he did get off to a quick start. The first play in team drills was a play action boot to his right before hitting Elijah Moore in stride for a pickup of around 10 yards. Nothing crazy but this was an on-time play that could be a staple in this new offense. After that, Hurts hit Dallas Goedert on a deep hitch and later hit Darius Cooper in front of Quinyon Mitchell. It was also an efficient day for Tanner McKee. While Andy Dalton has outperformed him on the whole, McKee is starting to heat up. McKee has more pure arm talent and once he gets caught up to speed in this offense, I expect to see it more.6. Michael Carter II had a pass breakup deep down the field in coverage on Samori Toure. The deep ball from Dalton wasn’t far off the mark but Carter was in the hip pocket of Toure. Even though Carter never turned his head, he watched the eyes of the receiver and knocking it down.7. Another day, another batted pass from Jalen Carter. That’s at least 3 or 4 through the first 7 days of practice. Batting passes at the line has become a real strength for Carter. After not having a single one as a rookie, he has 13 over the last two seasons. Both Carter and Jordan Davis have this ability.8. Dallas Goedert is starting to see more targets the last couple days of practice. That shouldn’t be a surprise. What was more surprising was that he didn’t see a ton early in camp. Typically, we’ve seen the offense run through Goedert in training camp and we’re starting to get back to that. Goedert said he thinks the rapport he has with Jalen Hurts carries over into this new scheme.9. We probably don’t talk about Saquon Barkley enough but he busted through a big hole on a stretch play to the right on Friday. Barkley has looked solid all summer.10. Some odds and ends:• Rookie UDFA Kapena Gushiken knocked a ball loose from the hands of E.J. Jenkins. Nice play from Gush.• Rookie QB Cole Payton didn’t get many reps on Friday but he still nearly threw an interception. Kelee Ringo stepped in front of a pass but was unable to secure the pick.• Arnold Ebiketie got some first-team reps to spell Jalyx Hunt and made the most of them. He used a spin move to get into the backfield for a "sack.”• Moro Ojomo and Uar Bernard both jumped offsides during this practice. That’s a rarity for Ojomo but has become commonplace for Bernard as he learns how to play American football. He has a long way to go.• WR Erik Ezukanma had a bad drop in team drills.• Will Shipley had a solid run with the second team. He has had an underwhelming camp but has flashed a tad more the last couple days.• Jason Kelce was at practice but he wasn’t just watching. He spent a lot of time coaching up some of the Eagles’ younger offensive linemen. If he ever wanted to be a coach, he’d be a really good one. But he already has like 47 jobs.Jason Kelce is out here coaching up Tyler Steen. pic.twitter.com/3MZvlG8y4L— Dave Zangaro (@DZangaroNBCS) August 7, 2026• New 76ers player Jaylen Brown and baseball executive Theo Epstein were at practice Friday. Brown got a nice round of applause from some fans who recognized him.Stupid Observation of the Day: After practice ended, the entire team gathered in the center of the field in a circle to sing Happy Birthday to Jalen Hurts. The Eagles’ quarterback turns 28 today.https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/eagles-training-camp-observations-day-7-johnny-wilson-darius-cooper-jalen-hurts-tanner-mckee/745900/
August 8Aug 8 I know most folks are down on Shipley, but I still think he can play a little. And add some value to the roster.
August 9Aug 9 Always concerned when Jurgens or any of the offensive linemen get hurt.......I think one of the biggest concerns I have is whether Chris Kuper can coach up the backups the way Stoutland always could.......More than anything this season, the health and effectiveness of the offensive line is what will make this offense go.I think the defense is going to be overwhelming.......especially if Campbell, Makuba, Smith and Woolen can play up to expectations. This defens is loaded with talent. But I don't think Howie is done. He'll be looking for veteran cuts prior to the season starting looking for safety and OL depth.
August 10Aug 10 I’m loving to hear the defense is dominating, but I have to say I am getting concerned about how the offensive line is getting dominated. On top of that three offensive starters have been out. I think it is highly doubtful we will see any starters in the preseason. I hope the offense doesn’t start slow, but knowing they started slow running a similar offense like they did in the past I know it’s likely the case. They still need to keep trying to stay the course and not go back though.
August 10Aug 10 Author Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 8: Jalyx Hunt is a beastWho stood out – and who didn't – at Eagles training camp on Saturday.By Jimmy KempskiPhillyVoice StaffBill Streicher/Imagn ImagesJalyx Hunt is on the verge of becoming an NFL star.Day 8 was the longest of Philadelphia Eagles training camp so far, and it was another hot and humid one. We have a lot of practice notes, so let's just get right to them.• Let's start with the OL-DL 1-on-1's which were really fun to watch today.1) You can probably count on two hands the number of times Lane Johnson has lost a rep in 1-on-1s during training camp the last decade, but Jalyx Hunt got him today on an inside move. Later, Hunt was going up against Markel Bell, and Bell did a really nice job on him for the win. But even on a lost rep, I was impressed by Hunt's ability to stack one pass rush move after another. A lot of pass rushers will try one move, and if it doesn't work, that's it. But after Bell blocked Hunt's initial move, Hunt tried an inside spin that somehow had a lot of force behind it, and Bell was able to block that, too. Still, the best pass rushers are able to keep throwing more and more at opposing offensive linemen after they are initially stopped, and I've seen that from Hunt this camp in a way I hadn't previously. After Hunt's loss to Bell, they lined up against each other again, with Hunt getting the best of Bell around the edge.I thought Hunt had a breakout season in 2025. I think he's going to go "double breakout" in 2026.2) The other star of 1-on-1s was Willie Lampkin, who absolutely owned Gabe Hall on consecutive reps. Lampkin is like 5'10, and Hall is 6'6. When they line up, it looks like Hall could just pick Lampkin up and throw him, but Lampkin just has such great technique, leverage, and balance. It's really something to watch. Lampkin also pretty easily got the best of undrafted rookie Zion Wilson.I'd be curious to see Lampkin go up against Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter. Easiest prediction ever: Lampkin is going to be a fan favorite after the preseason games.3) Ty Robinson got a win over Drew Kendall. He used his club move, as shown here:That was Robinson's most effective pass rush move at Nebraska, as shown here:That club move was Robinson's go-to move throughout the 2025 season, and it didn't work after that one win against the Giants, shown above.Similarly, when Robinson lined up against Kendall again, he went right back to his club move, but this time Kendall easily blocked it.Robinson's club move reminds me a little of the scene in Knocked Up where Seth Rogan's character's repetitive dance moves are being critiqued by his friends. In fairness, I will say that Robinson has been better in practice of late, after an alarming start to camp.4) Byron Young had a couple of nice power moves, beating Jake Majors on consecutive reps.5) Jordan Mailata pretty easily handled Nolan Smith on back-to-back reps.• We don't often mention the star players in our practice notes, because, I mean, you guys/gals already know them. But I will mention here today that Saquon Barkley looked explosive today, and he was also a little feisty. During a red zone session, Barkley charged through the line and only had Cooper DeJean to beat. DeJean had his toes on the goal line, and decided that taking on Barkley with a full head of steam probably wasn't worth it in an early August practice. So he made sort of a business decision and side-stepped Barkley. I think this was a totally reasonable thing to do, to be clear. No need to be a hero. But Barkley let him know, screaming "WOOOOOOOO!" right in DeJean's face lol.• The catch of the day was made by... oh hey... Darius Cooper again. Cooper was running toward the sideline, and when he ran out of real estate, he planted both feet on the ground and made a catch while falling to the ground. Great catch. He is clearly going to make the team, and I'm beginning to wonder if he might be the WR3.• Andy Dalton threw way high to Johnny Wilson, but Wilson plucked it out of the sky without even jumping. Wilson is 6'6 3/8" with 35 3/8" arms. Those are numbers that would be ideal for an offensive tackle. Entering camp, I thought Darius Cooper or Johnny Wilson would make the team, and the other wouldn't. But Wilson has had a good camp, too. Maybe they'll both make it.• Elijah Moore was very involved today:Hurts found Moore on a little bloop pass over the line to beat a blitz. Moore was wide open on what may have been a coverage bust.On a broken play, Hurts bought some time out of the pocket and threw to Moore. Zack Baun had a chance to make an INT or at least a PBU, but Moore ran back toward the football and almost kind of intercepted it himself in front of Baun. Nice play.On the last drive of the day, Hurts found Moore in the end zone for a score, after which Moore punted the football in celebration. It was a crappy punt.Moore has been better than expected. There's going to be a tough cut to make at receiver, whoever it may be.(Baun later did pick off a Hurts pass intended for Moore, that I think (?) was tipped at the line.)• Cam Jurgens left practice yesterday and did not return, but he was right back out there on Saturday. Early in practice I though he looked good. On a designed QB draw with Hurts, Jurgens got to the second level and made a nice block. He showed the quickness and athleticism that he had in 2024. BUT... For the second straight day, he exited with some sort of injury. I think that has to be concerning. • I really like what I have seen from Drew Kendall both today and throughout camp. During 11-on-11s Kendall didn't have anyone to block, so he was looking for work, and he flattened Moro Ojomo, who was being blocked by another lineman. We did a film review of Kendall earlier this offseason, and one of my nitpicks was a lack of aggression at times. But he has been a lot meaner this summer. He got some first-team reps at LG, and also later at C after Jurgens exited with his injury.• Jordan Davis had a couple of "wow" moments. Barkley was running through the line, and Davis stopped him with one arm while fending off a block. He also beat Tyler Steen cleanly on a run play with the offense backed up against their own end zone.• Eli Stowers had a drop to start the day, but he had like four or five catches thereafter. I'm going to call that a good day for him. Stowers has been invisible during a lot of these practices, so making a bunch of catches could be a confidence booster. We'll see if he can stay active.• I like what I have seen from the safeties so far. Andrew Mukuba is definitely a better player right now than he was this time a year ago, and Marcus Epps is generally where he needs to be.Today, while playing safety, Michael Carter broke on a pass intended for E.J. Jenkins and was able to break it up. Carter flexed his muscles after the play. He got first-team reps at safety. If the Eagles don't make any moves at safety, I think they'll be fine there. However, if I were Howie Roseman, I'd still be very tempted to go get a guy who can force turnovers, because that's not Epps. I think a playmaking safety could kind of put this already ridiculous defense over the top.• Tank Bigsby had a monster pancake block on a blitzing Ambry Thomas. Eye-opening. But then on the next play, he whiffed on a Jeremiah Trotter blitz, fell to the ground and held onto Trotter's leg for dear life, lol. Two extremes on consecutive plays.• I think that one bottom of the roster camp battle that has emerged is Will Shipley vs. Dameon Pierce for the RB3 / KR job. Both guys had a decent day, both running with the football and catching it.• Cole Payton threw another INT today. Bad throw, bad decision. Undrafted rookie S Maximus Pulley got him. Payton rebounded to make a number of nice throws to close the practice, but the careless decisions are going to anger Nick Sirianni.• Jake Elliott went 6/6, and is now 19/20 in three kicking sessions:Spoiler: The Eagles aren't going to bring in competition for Jake.https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2026-training-camp-practice-notes-day-8-jalyx-hunt-beast/

August 11Aug 11 Author Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 9: Fight! Fight!Monday's training camp practice for the Eagles featured a fight, another sparkling performance from a wide receiver, and some fun situational drills.By Jimmy KempskiPhillyVoice StaffColleen Claggett/for PhillyVoiceTyler Steen got a little frisky in practice on Monday.Day 9 of Philadelphia Eagles training camp is in the books, and there were some fun situational periods today. As always, we have a lot of practice notes, so let's just get right to them.• Darius Cooper had to have been close to double-digit receptions during 11-on-11's today. But what has been impressive about his camp so far is that he's doing it in a variety of ways.1) He had a contested catch with Michael Carter in coverage.2) He's consistently getting open in the middle of the field and making catches on the run.3) He ran an out route today and got all kinds of separation against Riq Woolen, and then shortly thereafter hit Woolen with a double move and dusted him down the sideline. Jalen Hurts was able to connect with Cooper on that play, and even though he underthrew it Cooper was so far behind the defense that he was able to wait for the ball to get to him.He has simply had a tremendous camp, and I thought today was his best day yet.• There was a fun situational session in 11-on-11's near the end of the day. In was an end of game situation, offense on their own 35, 55 seconds, a couple timeouts, down by 4.On the first play of the starting offense vs. the starting defense, Quinyon Mitchell made a diving INT to seal the game. He then punted the football.• Later in another end game situation, the offense lined up on the defense's 35, 52 seconds, no timeouts, again down 4. Here's how that went:1) Hurts to Cooper for 7.2) Great pass breakup by Mitchell on a sideline throw to Cooper.3) Hurts to Elijah Moore for 3.4) Hurts to Cooper near the sideline, but it was a low throw that required Cooper to go to the ground to catch it, and he couldn't get out of bounds. Tick tick tick.5) Spike. So then the offense had 2 seconds to run one last play from the 14 yard line. Vic Fangio only rushed three, and Hurts had alllll day. He eventually rolled right, threw across his body, and found Moore for a TD.After the play, a whiny Nolan Smith complained loudly that Hurts would have never had as much time to throw as he did. He then suggested to anyone within earshot that they ingest one of his body parts, lol.In my view, it was a legit play. Nobody came close to Hurts, so he extended the play, patiently waited for something to come open, and then made a good throw for the win. That was a really fun series to watch up close.• There was a good fight today. Tyler Steen blocked Ty Robinson through the whistle, Robinson didn't like it, and (boxing match bell) it was on. Steen tossed Robinson to the ground and then jumped on top of him, while bodies accumulated over the pile. It took a while to peel everyone off. Steen definitely got the best of that fight. If you'll recall, Steen tried to fight the entire Commanders defense last season:He can get a little frisky.• Ty Robinson may have lost the fight, but he had a good day otherwise. On a two-play sequence he hit Jake Majors with his patented club move, getting free for a sack. Then he hit Majors with a bull rush that resulted in a pressure.Robinson had a slow start to camp — and it's not as if Majors is Larry Allen — but he has come on of late.• Andy Dalton had a tough day.1) He threw off-target to Moore, and his pass was nearly picked by Woolen. (I thought Woolen should have had it.)2) Dalton had Cooper open over the middle and threw behind him.3) He missed Britain Covey for what should have been a pretty easy throw over the middle.4) He had another miss to Cooper late in practice.5) In the situational 2's vs. 2's, Dalton had a chance on 4th and 10 to hit Quez Watkins with a deep ball for the win, and he overthrew him. That was his worst day of camp, by far.I thought Tanner McKee made some nice throws. His best throw was on a play he got to step into a throw to Brandon Hayes.Cole Payton didn't get many reps, but his most notable throw was way over Hayes' head down the field.• Tank Bigsby is fun to watch. On a play in which Moore got open over the middle with room to run after the catch, Bigsby was hustling down the field, looking for someone to block. He found Woolen, which allowed Moore to pick up another 10-15 yards.• Undrafted rookie long snapper Rocco Underwood had a really high snap to Braden Mann during a punting session. It was a good foot or so over Mann's head. Mann was able to gather it in and get the punt off. Underwood also had a few snaps that were off to the right a bit. This morning we identified long snapper as one of the Eagles' three biggest positional concerns. https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2026-training-camp-practice-notes-day-9-fight-tyler-steen-ty-robinson/
August 12Aug 12 Author Eagles training camp observations: Elijah Moore making roster pushHere are our notes from Day 10 of Eagles training camp in 2026.By Dave Zangaro • Published August 11, 2026It was a long practice on Tuesday morning for the Eagles. The session ended at 11:43 after 1 hour and 43 minutes but then the offensive and defensive players lined up together and ran some extra gassers. The Eagles have a walkthrough Wednesday and practice again Thursday before their preseason opener in Baltimore on Saturday night.Let’s get to our observations from Day 10:1. As always, we’ll start with housekeeping:• Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard remains on the Active/PUP list and doesn’t appear to be nearing a return. DC Vic Fangio said on Tuesday that Greenard will be out at least another couple weeks.• All-Pro cornerback Quinyon Mitchell got hurt in a 1-on-1 drill against Hollywood Brown and did not return to team drills. Mitchell tweaked something and went to a knee. He got stretched out by trainers for a while and then put his helmet back on and stood on the sideline. It looked like he tried to return but was held out. So we’ll see what happens with him on Thursday.• After leaving Monday’s practice early, iOL Willie Lampkin was a full participant on Tuesday.• The injury report to start Tuesday’s practice:Not practicing: WR Danny Gray (concussion), OLB Keyshawn James-Newby (ankle), CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder), WR Makai Lemon (hamstring), RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring), WR Johnny Wilson (knee), S Cole Wisniewski (hamstring)Limited: LB Chance Campbell (groin), WR Britain Covey (hamstring)• DeVonta Smith worked out with trainers before practice.2. Depth chart notes:• When Quinyon Mitchell left practice early, it was second-year CB Mac McWilliams, who got bumped up to the first team at cornerback. (Remember, Jonathan Jones is out too.) McWilliams has had a strong training camp and is fighting for a roster spot as a backup corner.• Fred Johnson got some first-team reps to spell Lane Johnson. But here’s how the lines began the day:First team: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane JohnsonSecond team: Markel Bell, Willie Lampkin, Drew Kendall, Jake Majors, Fred JohnsonThird team (in developmental): Hollin Pierce, Micah Morris, Willie Lampkin, Myles Hinton, Cameron Williams• The kick returner group on Tuesday included Tank Bigsby, Britain Covey, Elijah Moore, Darius Cooper and Brandon Hayes. The injured pair of Makai Lemon and Dameon Pierce watched behind that group.3. The biggest highlight of the day came on a deep ball from Jalen Hurts to Elijah Moore. Moore ran a double move into a deep post and Hurts hit him in stride for a 50-yard touchdown pass. Moore beat Andre’ Sam over the top for the long touchdown and then celebrated by punting the ball on the roof. (Not sure if it got stuck or not.)Moore has been having a good training camp and it’ll be interesting to see what the Eagles do when they put their roster together. I think he has outplayed Hollywood Brown in camp.4. I watched the WR vs. DB 1-on-1s on Tuesday. Here are some notes:• Quinyon Mitchell went down awkwardly in his second 1-on-1 drill against Hollywood Brown, who ran an in-breaking route as Mitchell went down. But on their earlier rep against each other, Mitchell put on a master class. Brown tried to run a double move but to the outside but Mitchell read it perfectly and undercut Brown and then picked off the Jalen Hurts pass. These drills are heavily slanted in the favor of the receivers so it’s hard to break up a pass, let alone pick one off. It was a beauty from Mitchell.• Brown had a drop in his first 1-on-1 against Mitchell.• Dontayvion Wicks got inside on Riq Woolen with a quick move and caught the pass.• Darius Cooper shook Kelee Ringo and made a nice grab inside.• Samori Toure did the hard part and got loose against Mac McWilliams but then dropped the ball.• Jakorian Bennett got a PBU going up against Quez Watkins on the sideline. Watkins later made a deep catch after beating Bennett.• Erik Ezukanma nearly pulled off an incredible diving catch after getting a step on Tariq Castro-Fields but couldn’t hold on. He was upset at himself after that one.5. The Eagles ran a 4-minute drill on Tuesday where the offense needed a first down to ice a game. This is an area where the Eagles were exceptional in 2024 but took a step in the wrong direction last year. The first-team offense was able to get a first-down with two consecutive runs from Saquon Barkley. The first came when Barkley hit a big hole to the right of the formation and was able to sidestep Jalen Carter. Barkley got a handoff up the middle on second down to move the chains and give the offense a win.It can sometimes be tough to evaluate the run game in these practices because there’s no tackling to the ground. But Barkley has looked strong and has his normal burst this summer. The second-team offense got a first down after three straight runs from Tank Bigsby set them up with a 4th-and-short. They converted on 4th down when veteran A.J. Epenesa jumped offsides. Good job by rookie Markel Bell to notice it and move when Epenesa jumped. The third-team offense failed to pick up a first. A false start from veteran Michael Jordan turned a 3rd-and-short into a 3rd-and-long. On 3rd down, veteran safety J.T. Gray broke up a pass intended for Samori Toure.6. One of Jalen Hurts’ best throws of the day was on an out route to the sideline for Dontayvion Wicks. The timing on the throw was perfect and Wicks caught it in bounds. It has been impressive how on time these two have been together.7. Byron Young got a sack in a team drill on Tuesday. Young is still buried on the depth chart a bit because he’s behind Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo. But Young has been a steady member of the rotation and should be on the team again in 2026.8. Dallas Goedert completed a catch in the middle of the field with Zack Baun draped all over him. Goedert is a reliable big target for Hurts.9. Impressive reflexes from Cooper DeJean in team drills. There was an obvious miscommunication on offense and Andy Dalton threw a pass right at DeJean. But DeJean didn’t see it coming because his back was turned. DeJean turned his body just as the ball nearly hit him, but the All-Pro had the reflexes to pick it off and head the other way.10. Some odds and ends from Saturday:• Jake Elliott was 6-for-6 on his field goals in the full-team setting and is now 25/26 in this training camp.• Jakorian Bennett had a PBU working against Elijah Moore.• Eli Stowers got an early catch in this practice and is slowly starting to turn a corner.• Ty Robinson has been more active in recent days. He got a cleanup sack on Tuesday. Robinson got off to a slow start in his second training camp but has been making more plays recently.• Jalen Hurts took off on a scramble after already rolling to his right on a play-action bootleg in that direction. Vic Fangio mentioned that Hurts looks faster in this camp. He definitely does when he gets a head full of steam.Stupid Observation of the Day: During the tackling circuit, on a drill where the most you’re supposed to see is a light thud, Zack Baun erased Britain Covey. He tackled the 5-foot-8 receiver to the ground. Baun then flexed in celebration to playfully tease Covey, who is a favorite among his teammates. On their next rep, Covey was quicker with a move and avoided Baun completely.NBC Sports PhiladelphiaEagles training camp observations: Elijah Moore making ro...Here are our notes from Day 10 of Eagles training camp in 2026.
